Try calling the # on your bill replies to Patti
Try calling the customer service phone number on your bill.
Comenity Bank covers a multitude of credit cards. Chances are the number you are calling is a back line to the collections  department and won't connect you to anyone.
They are trying to call you about a past due on your credit card.
They do this when the payment isn't received by the due date.
I've accidentally completely forgotten to make a payment a few times and by just calling them back and making a minimum payment I was able to get them to reverse the late payment fee.

    Big A,
It was never my intention of posting misinformation. THANK YOU for the correction! It is so nice to know where to get the RIGHT information.
My personal experience was the only thing I was posting from. That's exactly why I said that these were my experiences, and that the posting only contained a small bit of the law.
You sound very knowledgeable. I appreciate your information.
In my case, repossessing the car wasn't an option because the car had so many problems. It had a bad head gasket (would have been $1300 to fix at the time), the car's value was far less than I owed (i had bought it for much more than I should have because I was desperate and had deservedly bad credit), and I was honest when talking to the repossession tow truck driver. He had called the bank and asked if THEY wanted the car towed knowing it really wasn't worth ANYTHING. If I had just kept my mouth shut they WOULD have towed it away and it wouldn't have been a lawn ornament for the next several years.
I didn't even mention that the gas tank was rusting on the top. I didn't know it until after the repo man came.
I was living in upstate New York at that time.
THANK YOU. I am not being snide. I REALLY DO appreciate being educated. ESPECIALLY when I am WRONG.

Perhaps I was a little rough, since you had to read instead of communicating in another fashion, but I see so many people posting things here that are simply flat out wrong.  It seems you got a raw deal, and should have had representation to help you along with this.  Next time try to seek out someone to help you, I know that in my state there are groups that provide representation at no or low cost, and I am sure there are some where you live.  I have done a lot of research on these matters, so as i find information I make sure it is readily available for others.  Like everyone else here, I started out clueless, but thanks to others here and my own research, I am much more knowledgeable in things, and you can be also if you simply read what is here and read up at whatever links are posted.  So basically learn as much as you can, help others and keep yourself safe from being scammed in the process.

One has to wonder why these allegedly “legit” companies need so many phone numbers to call people with.
Seems to be a frequent flyer in these pages with a very bad reputation.  Be advised that they are not subject to the FDCPA since they are the creditor.  They may however be subject to state laws.
Web site with contact information:  http://www.comenity.net/comenity/ContactUs/
    Now for the interesting part.
BBB page with 1,642 complaints, and 215 negative reviews and they still get an A+ rating.  What the heck is that all about?  http://www.bbb.org/centralohio/business-revie ... olumbus-oh-6558
They must be paying big bucks to the BBB for that.
Bizapedia has them as a Florida Fictitious name but they are located in Ohio:  http://www.bizapedia.com/fl/COMENITY-BANK.html
    Name verified at Sunbiz.org
Send them a cease and desist letter by certified, return receipt US mail.  Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

We get numerous calls per day from this number.  Caller ID shows "Comenity".   If we don't answer,  no message is left.   But then they call back again, using a different phone number.   "Comenity" still shows up on caller ID.    If we answer,  we get a recording asking us to hold for the next rep.     I just hang up.   If they want to talk to us,  don't put us on hold when we answer.

    Idiots.

Called this morning (Saturday) at 7:50 AM!  First call number on ID was 614-754-4131.  Called again at 9:05 AM and this was the number - 720-456-3697.  Also got a third call at 10:39 AM.  All stated they were from COMENITY.  This tells me it is a SCAM!!!  No messages were left.  I did not return their calls.
