Was asking for Judy.  No one here by that name.  Person says, "You're not Judy?".  I repeated no one here by that name.  Was rude and hung up before I could finish telling them not to call again.

This co. called my parents house a couple weeks ago looking for me (haven't lived with them in 7 yrs). So I called them to see who and what it was for and they asked for my last 4 digits of my social. I refused to provide as I had no idea who they were. The guy then proceeds to tell me that I have a credit card debt from 6 years ago...I don't. He then tells me what my last 4 digits of my social are - he has them completely wrong. He also had my birthday wrong too. He started switching my words around and trying to make me confess about something that's not mine and not true. Then he started laughing at me. I told him that I wasn't sure what he thought was funny, but having this conversation on a Friday night, was not something I considered to be funny. He asked for my contact information and I told him that he can find me if it's really me he's looking for. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me that she can hear our conversation and she refused to get on the line with me.
And now today, just got a missed call on my cell from this number at 1:46 pm.

I don't want to call them because then they'll have all of my information. This debt is not mine and it's ridiculous as to what extent they will go to. My husband said that the scrounging for $$ as they only have 7 yrs to collect...I don't know if that's true or not.

We received a call form this number last night while we were out, and when my 17 year old daughter saw Norfolk, Virginia but did not recognise the phone numbershe said she was going to call it and find out who it was...this was because I have a military spouse husband and we lived in Norfolk for more than five years and I taught school there.That it could have been any one of a number of my husbands former shipmates or a childhood friend looking for my daughter.

She said that when she called the number back there was a long hesitation and then a recording saying that they were a collection agency and their call was in regards to trying to collect a debt. We just took out  mortgage, and as most people know,they want your life's history when you do that, and we know that there is nothing out there that we owe to a collection agency. It is good to know that I can ignore these calls.

Portfolio Recovery Associates is NOT a collection agency for Capitol One. They are a junk debt buyer and bought the debt from Capitol One for pennies on the dollar and are now trying to collect on it.

I don't know when you defaulted on the loan, but do NOT pay them a dime, until you check the SOL (Statue of Limitations) for the enforcement of collection of debts in your State:

If the SOL has expired and you send them a token payment, this enables them to reage the debt and "restart the clock", DON'T DO IT! And, STAY OFF THE PHONE!

same as the rest of you.  they call with allegations of debts pears past due or paid off years ago.  these guys are grave robbers the scum of the earth.  filed ftc complaint; hope that helps.

Thank you for the information - I paid off a bad debt about 14 years ago and now this company is trying to get the same pay off as before.
I found out that bank that they say the are collecting for was bought out by a bank I have a current credit with.
I will not be answering the phone when I see their number again.

Call several times a day, inappropriate times, never leave message. Answered once, and they argued that I was the person they were looking for, they were rude and insulting. I was not the person they asked to speak with, and they do not live here. Yet they continue to call day after day. They need to be stopped and arrested for intimidating and improper business practices. 1-757-961-3546 needs to be dissconnected by force of law!

Thanks for the info. I have been getting calls from Norfolk VA and would not answer. Figured it was a scumbag. Had someone call my 87 year old father who lives in another state. I lost it and called the number only to get a recording. Boy did I fill that recording up. Told them to never call anyone in my family, friends, neighbors or even enemies! I will hunt them down if they don't leave me alone. Never heard from her again. Now getting these calls from Norfolk. Maybe we should post a youtube video to alert others.

There is a derogatory picture of Muhammad on their website. As a Muslim, I am deeply offended by that and I have contacted them and asked them to please remove this picture off their website. I hope that they will do so or I shall contact them again.

Caller left no message.  I called number back and "Robert" said it was Portfolio Recovery.  They had to have used initials from directories to try to locate a James.  Robert didn't listen to my explanation and hung up so I called back and insisted on talking with a supervisor. A  Ms. Davenport looked up my number and removed it from every record that they have it listed on.  (One person was deceased).  This is aggravating, especially if you don't have any unpaid debts!  Be persistent and insist that they comply with the do not call policies.  Just trying any number is harassing.

they have been calling constantly at all hours on my cell trying to pick up on a dept I PAID OFF 10 years ago.

Just answer in a fake language if a real person does pick up.  The calls stop.  Bong hai!  Don't know why a "bail recovery" service would be calling me - I've never been arrested and have never posted bail for anyone.

I'm getting these calls like everyone else,how they got my # is unreal...like you I don't owe any past debts just bought a house three years ago no LIENS etc...yet these nut cases are calling !! I don't know what to do... somebody tried to sue me a few weeks ago which I had thrown out .They need to lock up these jerks and put them in jail or place them in  Mike Vicks's dogs cages since they are operating from the Norfork,Va.area. I'm so angry !!!

1-757-961-3546: They called on my business phone & as I have dealings with some other states, I needed to pick up but as soon as I heard the recorded message about Portfolio Recovery, I hung up.  I'm sick to death of all these unwanted, unsolicited phone calls coming in.  We don't even answer our home phone any more unless we recognize the number.  What's the point of Do-Not-Call if these lowlifes can still call & harangue you?!!!! What an invasion of privacy.
