Hello! Portfolio Recovery is a JUNK DEBT BUYER - meaning a debt that cannot be legally collected. Junk debt buyers purchase debts that are outside the statue of limitations for lawsuit. Those who are calling you are NOT authority figures, they're bullies. They're working to fulfill a monthly quota, so the more of their time you take up, the less successful they'll be, and the less chance they'll have to clean out some naive, recently widowed woman's savings...I like to screw with them. One of my favorites is to pretend I'm senile and confused...keep them on the phone for 15-20 minutes, "looking for my checkbook"...That, or I try to gross them out, tell them that they sound like they have a pretty mouth, and that I']m going to masturbate while we talk...

Got a call on Sunday from this "scam" number 757-961-3546 and  also the caller asked me to return the call to 1-800-860-0644. This is a scam and when I told the "girl" not to call this number again she just laughed.

These people call all the time, I am going to invoke the STALKING LAWS in my state, which clearly defines stalking as unwanted contact for the sole purpose to harass or intimidate into submission.

That is what these people (trolls) do, it is undeniable and I have a recording where they told me they cannot legally collect but can call any time they wish. Of course it's between 8am and 9pm.

What if I were to call THEIR daughter all the time asking for something she does not want to submit to, would she not call the police? Maybe get a restraining order?

YES! That behavior does in fact fall under the stalking laws. They do not have any RIGHT to call every day for the purpose of harassment. I urge everyone who receives these calls to call their local local sheriff and show them the caller ID, and make a complaint with a restraining or "no contact" order issued and mailed to the offending company.

They are causing undue stress and interruption for nothing more than an unenforceable contract, and they know it! It is nothing more than harassment, look up the definition of "stalker" and see for yourself just how much it fits collection agency tactics.

Call a local financial attorney, they will most likely send out a C&D letter for free just to stick it in their face.

I dont answer the phone when I see this number

These idiots started calling my house today, on 7/29/09. The number came up on the caller ID as "Unknown Name" with the number in question. Since I am always leary of answering a call where the name is "Unknown" and the number is not local, I had no intention of answering the call. As far as collecting a bad debt., well maybe we have one I don't know, however my husbands job of 20 years was just "eliminated" by his employer, so guess what ~ my salary will be paying the mortgage, utilities, and gas for the car, and that's about it. If these poor [***] purchased a bad debt that we allegedly owe, I hope they don't hold their breath in anticipation of a cent. We just unplug the landline when we are home so we can't be bothered by the BS and anyone who really needs to talk with us, knows how to get us.

What's his home phone number? - I'm going to call him three to five times a day, everyday, including Sundays, asking him for money.

Well, well, well. Next time I have to drive to NY I will stop by his home to make sure he is well stocked with eggs and toilet paper. If it is at night and he is sleeping, I will be quiet but be sure he sees the "delivery" when he gets up.

Maybe fliers in ALL the neighbors mailboxes informing them what he does for a living will bring about a new found (dis)respect for this degenerate.

This Steven D. Fredrickson is a degenerate and worse, literally stealing money from the uninformed and naive, frightening them into paying even though his employee slobs making the phone calls do nothing to truly verify if the money is really owed or if they have the right person - which is the responsibility of Steven D Fredrickson...a degenerate sociopath with lots of money and power - and that's dangerous.

This scumbag needs to forfeit and return all the money he has made at Portfolio Recovery, be made to pay punitive damages as well, and serve some serious prison time, and the sooner the better.

I kept getting calls from this number almost everyday about an old debt. What I do now is call them at least 10 times a day (I just have the phone on speaker and hit redial) and when a live person comes on, I let them keep talking until they realize that they've been "pranked". Since I started doing this, I have barely had calls from them. May be everyone should try this trick

OK this is weird. I am complaining about a collection agency and right next to my comment I see AIS Services (collection agency) ad. Do they think they will get clients from a forum like this?

They called this am, when I was on the phone with a Dr., I didn't click over, so of course it kept blocking out what the Dr. was saying. I had to keep asking the Dr. to repeat his self. They have called before for the person that had this phone number before me and were asked not to call here. Nevertheless, they just don't get it, SHAME ON THEM, B_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _!!. So I will file a complaint with the FTC, to put a stop to them. Just don't let them spoil your day.
