Portfolio Recovery Associates call day and night all hours. I answer the phone and they will not tell me who they are looking for just that someone at my number owes them money. I own my home and car and have no credit card debt. I work full time and it is very annoying to try and prove to the callers of this number that I do not owe anyone.

I thought by requesting the caller not to call they were not suppose to call anymore...

They are trying to collect on a credit card from 26 years ago.  I have informed them that they need to send me something that shows the items and or something that proves I owe.  I had been in a house fire and lost everything and I don't think I had paperwork back that long ago and either does my ex-husband.  I asked them to mail me something because no person in their right mind would send over $2,000.00 just because a person tells them so without proof.  I asked for proof and told them I would give to my lawyer because I had spoke to someone about this every year they sell this info but they said they couldn't go the expense of sending what I needed.

Asking them to remove you from their list will result in nothing. You must send a Cease and Desist letter. That is the O N L Y way to get them to stop!

If you don't send one to them, then you can expect more phone calls... it's just really that simple folks.

First, this stupid lady couldn't pronounce my wife's name correctly.  Then when I corrected her, I told her she wasn't home.  She then asked me to take her name and number down so my wife could call her back.  When I asked her what this was in regards to, she said it was a personal matter.  But she doesn't know my wife's name?!?!  To that I said, quite rudely, good luck on reaching her and hung up.

This number has called several times over the past few weeks. I simply let it go to my answering machine and they never leave a message. If they wanted me to return their calls they would have left a message.

I treat these like all other calls from numbers I don't recognize and just ignore them

This is Steven D Fredrickson...some of these comments towards me are childish and shameful, and it doesn't surprise me that those who are deadbeats, would make childish, immature remarks like this.

As to our collection procedures...we carefully follow the collection laws of our state and anyone claiming otherwise is a bald faced liar - it is YOU people who should be in prison for being a thief...not me!

I have contacted Virginia federal law enforcement and asked them to please arrest this Steven D Fredrickson arch-criminal and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law for his crimes. I believe he needs to be tried under the RICO statutes because it's quite clear that he is running a RICO operation. He must be stopped, and he must be made to serve the maximum prison sentence and pay punitive damages for the massive crimes he has committed.
