Got a call from this number yesterday. This morning I saw on here it was Sallie Mae whe I tried to call them back, I got a recording and then it disconnected. Not very good practice if they want their money but hang up on you when you do return the call.

Why would they be calling you if you're still in school?

I will start to repay my loan as soon as I obtain any employment.  For now, I just do not answer any number that I do not know.  I have already informed them that I do not have a source of income.

This is in fact Sallie May collections calling. They are calling the number that someone had listed on their student loans. I originally freaked out because I have Sallie May loans but I'm still in school.
I spoke with a gentleman and he asked me several questions. I simply said "I am a current student, my loans are in good standing, so your not calling about me because my account is listed under a different phone number."  He advised me he would remove the number.
I got more calls, called back and spoke with a nice lady, explained the situation, just got a new number and the loan was not in my name (a previous phone call identified the person they were calling for). She advised me the account was listed more than once, multiple loans in default I assume, and that I would no longer be getting calls.

Just pick up the phone if you don't owe them any money and tell them it's not you. Took five minutes of my day and fixed my problem completely.

And to those of you who said your a co-signer, THAT IS WHAT BEING A CO-SIGNER MEANS !!!!!!! YOU signed that YOU would be responsible if THEY didn't pay THEIR loans ! I'm not a fan of collection calls but do your damn homework before complaining for something YOU signed up for!!!!

I have loans with Sallie Mae but I don't have the $400/month they want me to pay. I've talked to then and I pay what I can and they still continue to call at least 10 times a day. Isn't there anything I can do about this?! I don't think I deserve the constant harassment because I'm broke.

They are legit...i just called sallie mae and they said its their collectors.

I gather from what I'm reading these annoying phone calls are coming from a debt collector from Sallie Mae.  I've never taken a student loan or any other type of loan from these idiots, so I'm not sure why they would be calling me multiple times a day.  Are these people a legitimate business or scammers trying to get personal information?  I would be very careful telling them anything.  I keep getting automated calls, so I have never actually talked to them and have no intention of starting.  I'll keep reporting them to law enforcement until they stop.  Best of luck everyone.

so yeah, it's obviously 2014 and Sally Mae has called me from 765-283-3227 and I have no loans through them, nor know anyone who got a loan through them. The previous owner of my number obviously did, or something, but they have their name, but my voicemail says MY name. Yet they keep calling and leaving messages on my voicemail..anyone know a way to stop them from calling me, or will me blocking their number only cause them to call from a different number??

765-283-3253 from "MCC" no idea who they are. Other posts say collections agency of some sorts for Sallie Mae - who ever that is.  They call day & night.  We have no debts.

I have started to get these calls the last few days and they call every 2 hours. I would pick up and no one is on the line and was told to hold. I even called them back and no one would answer. I do have a loan with Sallie Mae and I talked to a rep a month ago telling them I have been unemployed for several months now and was there anything they could do such as forbearance or a lower payment, but they just asked if there was anyone I can ask for money from. Really? So I told them I will make a payment when my situation will improve. They called me the next day and I told them I already spoke to someone and they said they couldn't help me so I don't know why they are calling me again. Now these calls are happening. Can't pay them with something I don't have. Duh!
