- Chris| 3 repliesSallie Mae continues to call me even when I sent them an E-Mail to " Cease & Discontinue calling me,weather it be by phone or E-Mails, to cease calling me or I would file a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office in Lansing ,MI. or BBB". They continue to call MCC 1-765-283-3176.I am going through Bankruptcy right now. I'm going to tell my Attorney about Sallie Mae and theit=r harrassing phone calls.

- Mike replies to Chris| 1 replyBankruptcy wont save you from Sallie Mae or there collectors, student loans are not covered in bankruptcy because they are federally backed. I have tried to get them to stop calling me by phone, email, snail mail, harassing them back... Nothing works because they think they are above FTC rules regarding fair debt collecting practices & because they have 5 different companies call you every day all from different states with different phone numbers.
- Kelly| 2 repliesCalling repeatedly from the same number without leaving messages. I have a loan with them but it's in deferment because I am in school, and after tons of paperwork continuously throughout the year proving to them that I am in fact enrolled, they still bother me. Never borrow from Sallie Mae!
- Caller: Sallie Mae

- AnnoyedSounds like all the same instances for me too. I've been ignoring the calls, but they used to be only once a day or so, now I got seven calls from them in one day! It's extremely annoying....
- fed up| 1 replyCalls 8-10 times per day, every day. No message. They're very persistent. MCC is an access # for a calling card. What a way to make a living!
- Call type: Debt collector
- HKTThis number calls me about 2-3 times a day and I answer and they claim to be Sallie Mae, I talked to someone from Sallie Mae and have resolved all the issues. I wish that Sallie Mae would stop doing this to people. It's stressful and annoying!
- stephthey just called me and idk how they got my number cuz i just got this number like a few dayz ago
- NYCThey have been calling me too, they are NOT Sallie Mae!
They are a collection company who has illegally gotten hold of our credit reports and they are fishing for people to pay them...DON'T
Please contact Sallie Mae directly yourself.- Call type: Debt collector
- NessI keep being called by the same number but no matter how many times I tell them the loans suppose to be in in-school deferment they keep calling. Ive decided to report them to like better buisness beurau and others because it is beyond ridiculous. Others who read this please join me in helping at least getting them to tone it down and get facts right and do buisness better!!

- Ness replies to Kelly| 1 replyI agree to your post. Im sorry I wanted to respond cause your problem with them sounds just like mine!! I thought Id suggest to you to try reporting them to the better buisness buerua and consumer agencies I truly believe they are breaking several laws and the harrasment of people needs to stop. Please help me if you read this to pass the word on. They need to stop the harrasment and dumb buisness practices.
- Aggravated!| 1 replyI have a loan through Sallie Mae, when this number called me they asked me to verify my address and when I did they told me it was incorrect. I asked them what they had on file they gave me the city where I had lived several years eariler. I told them my account was not delequant because I had just recieved a letter from Sallie Mae at my present address that this guy could not verify that my loans did not come due until September. He told me this was impossible. I simply told him if he wanted to speak to me he could send me papers showing who he is and what he wants. Still no papers and still plenty of calls. I just don't answer them now. Funny how Sallie Mae has an 800 or 888 number when they call and this guy doesn't. I refuse to talk to them anymore. They refuse to send me information and leave a message so I refuse to do business with them. When they can provide me with the correct current information I have given my lender then we will talk. Just beware!!
- SteveThey have been calling me 2 or 3 times a day for the last week. A cell phone, mind you. I got this phone for work and I have given this number out to exactly 3 people and I have nothing to do with Sallie Mae, so they have nothing to do with me. It must have something to do with the person who had my number before me. When I pick up, I never say anything, I just wait to see if they'll say anything, and they never do. Truly bizarre.
- i understand replies to never mind| 1 replyI get the calls from Sallie Mae also and i do have a loan from them and I'm on the national do not call list. However, i do owe them so they will call but its a computer generated list that either calls the person and when the person picks up the phone a human agent takes over the call from Sallie Mae, or your name is automatically comes up which is in there delinquent list and they call until you work something out like a forbearance to delay payment for $50.00 for a couple of months but you will still owe and interest is still adding up. If your unemployed let them know and they will tell you what you can do to make it less stressful on you to pay the full amount right away; they will let you know that the payments can be reduced temporarily but you have to talk with them first or your stuck, so i tell them something and the calls are less frequent, eventhough you've spoken with someone to work something out you may get another call, but be patient and let them know you've spoken with someone already and they will put something in there computer to update your info so you want get another call for about 25-30 days, ask for specific info like i do about the loan(s), its information they should know already, like what type of loan(s) are they? private, government, what? who name is the loan in or for; make sure your name is correct and not crossed up with some one of similar name, so first name-middle-lastname and try to see if they could tell you the social on the account while not really telling them first all of your correct info, maybe the last four of your social, what date did they start?, whats the account number(s) for each loan or are they all under one account? whats the minimum payment can i make to bring it current? if they sound like they don't know or they can'nt get that information then hang up and don't feel guilty about it.
- ChrisI answered the call the first time and they asked for Jason (or something like that). They still call, but soon as I answer, they hang up. They need to stop calling.
- aggrivated in alabamaI keep getting calls from sallymae/mcc i have no loan just a son who just graduated im aggrivated in al
- Jeri3 calls recently to my cellphone. When I answered the calls, there was nobody there to talk to. I got the impression they were random robocalls without enough staff to talk when someone actually answers. I have never had a Sallie Mae loan. I have NO debts whatsoever. My credit score is 800+. I want these calls to stop wasting my time and cellphone minutes.

- onesolutionI had a call last night from a rude employee there. I wanted to call them back due to a bunch of fraudulent calls recently, but he insisted to threatened me to give up my information.

- RobJust be aware that if you're not willing to make a payment *immediately* your best bet is to just not bother to pick up the phone. Even if you pick up the call and talk to them, all they're going to tell you is that the calls will continue until you make a payment - so it's pointless!
Don't feel guilty about it though, they're perfectly happy to make EVEN MORE MONEY off of you by assessing more late fees...works out better for them anyways.
I decided to answer the other day and told them: "Yeah, thanks for calling. I know I am delinquent from the 15 times a day you guys call me. I cannot afford to pay at this time since I am unemployed and have no money." She says "Well, sir, you should know that these calls will continue and that you may be reported to credit agencies." I said "Yeah, well, I don't have much credit left at this point - and couldn't get a loan to save my life right now EVEN IF I DID - so, good luck with that! Thanks, have a GREAT day!" and I hung up. Felt great!
Also - please know that due to legislation Sallie Mae lobbied to get passed in 1998, they are exempt from the "Do Not Call" guidelines and congressional guidelines for collection harassment...so don't bother bellyaching that you're on the "Do Not Call Registry." It doesn't matter.
They are also tied in with the IRS and can find you *at will* from your tax records and garnish your wages, without a court order, for as long as they see fit. But, that costs even more money than collections. The "collections agencies" that call you are ALSO owned by them. Sallie Mae bought the top 3 collection agencies in the US as soon as that legislation was passed - so it's all internal regardless of how they make it appear.
If my Financial Aid Advisor in college told me I could have bought a house for the same amount of money I'd be paying Sallie Mae for the next 20 years, I would have taken the house and been waaaaay ahead of the game by now.
A degree no longer gets you a job, how sad is that? Employers move uneducated people to the head of the line because they can pay them less.- Caller: 765 283-3176
