Same as most other posts.  Caller ID Portfolio Recov".  They called looking for someone else.  The person calling was nice and polite.

Bottom Feeding scumbag debt collectors.  PRA uses tactics to get your money at all costs.

The slimy practice of filing for judgements in counties where you do not reside is reprehensible.  They do this because their skip tracers can't locate you and know that the only way to vacate the judgement is to provide the address where you actually reside.  Now they have you.  Most states don't allow this practice and none should.

Portfolio Recovery, using one of their many numbers to try to slip through.  Keep calling, I'll keep blocking.  I have yet to receive anything from them in the mail despite my requests for it.  I don't pay unknown debts over the phone - send me something in the mail, I'll request validation of the debt, and we'll go from there.  I strongly suspect this is a very old bill that is still bouncing around, despite being paid to the original creditor.

DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE AND FIGHT THEM!!  They are trying to collect from a friend on a debt he settled back in 2007. He became disabled and could no longer work. He cashed in his 401K and called up everyone he owed money to and cut a deal to pay off his debts. They all accepted half of what he owed and he was done with them. Now Portfolio is trying to get hundreds of dollars from him on trumped up amounts and huge interest charges. These debts do not even show up on credit reports from all 3 credit bureaus. They are lying and telling him he owes them money. Because he is disabled and social security is his only source of income, they can not touch him. Also those debts are over the time limit to collect. It is just the constant phone calls and letters where they are trying to intimidate him. He is looking into getting a lawyer to sue for harrasment..

A debt collector cannot file a judgement in a state other than where you live.  They would have to retain local counsel and verify your county of residence.  Why do you think they stalk you and try to get a location?  Rather, they will just pester you to the point where you want to Darth Vader them.   Portfolio Recovery is a bottom feeder and they will try to pull every dirty trick.  However, they have been sued for millions.

Daaaaang, I bet that is how my contact is probably loaded. Never actually had a chance to look at all of them. That is a crying shame. SMH. I have sent countless letters. Thank you all for the tips. Lord.

I don't have a clue on who they are looking for, but I do know that I don't have any debts what-so-ever, so theres no reason for them to be calling me or my number I have had for more than 25 years.

I have probably left a message here before but no going to look for it. I see that these people/company has lots of phone numbers, so I guess I can't block them all. I was blocking them since I thought they didn't have but just a few. Still not answering them since I have business that I am interested in talking to them about.  7/13 - 3:48pm this is the last time they called, so far. Plus, I have no debt to be collected. All bills are paid and up to date.

The number 1 in front of my calls indicates an out of US area, comes from overseas. Just keep blocking until Congress people get involved.

My boyfriend owes money to a dental place so it's in collections and they are calling me too! And at work smh!

These autodialing systems make me crazy, but this is technology.  The one thing that Portfolio Recovery Associates does NOT take advantage of is technology because they have no idea who they are harassing when they call the same numbers day after day.

But here's the rub folks----answer the call, let them talk for a minute or two, then tell them to STOP calling you.  This will give you the evidence you need to join a Class Action Lawsuit that is being put together right now by a law firm in Chicago.  Their main target is PRA and it's for billions of dollars.

Again, answer the call, give them a minute to talk, ask them to stop calling you and that's all you need to join the lawsuit.  TURN THEM IN!!!!!!
