- JiGood Lord, some of you have no idea how your insurance works. Your health insurance provider (UHC, BCBS, etc.) likely contracts with a pharmacy benefit manager, such as Medco, for ALL of your prescription benefits. Whether you're filling your prescriptions at a retail pharmacy or through the mail-order pharmacy, if you have Medco, Medco handles both. Using the retail pharmacy for maintenance drugs increases your own costs and contributes to rising health care costs for everybody. And your insurance sponsor, such as your employer, ends up with higher costs, and those costs are eventually passed on to you in the form of higher premiums.
Is it annoying to receive the calls? Perhaps. Is it illegal? No. Do I work for Medco, another PBM, or any insurance company? No. I just have a clue.- Caller: Medco PBM
- I have the answer| 1 replyThe number is from Medco, and they are calling you to talk about YOUR prescription benefits. Not a telemarketer, they are probably the company that handles your prescriptions. You have insurance, and you probably have a prescription id card with that insurance. That's the reason for the call. If you don't want to wait til they call you, call the number on the prescription id card, and tell them you would like to be opted out of all calls. But DON'T HANG UP.
Here's how to get the calls to stop, if you are getting called, and don't want to be called anymore.
When they call, actually answer it. Tell them you would like to be opted out of all phone calls, and DON'T hang up. Wait until they get the correct information, and be patient, it doesn't take long at all. Also, make sure that you tell them you want EVERYONE in your home taken off. That way you won't get a call for ANYONE. Once they have the information, it takes a few days for the calls to stop. But once it stops, it stops. Just be patient with the person you are talking to, they are only doing their job, they aren't there to make you angry, they are there to do the right thing, and make you aware of your benefits, and if you don't want to use them, and want off, they will kindly take you off. They are not a scam, or telemarketers, and it doesn't matter if you are on a do not call list, they actually do have something to do with you.
I hope this will help anyone that wants the calls to stop. It's really easy, I called them because I too was tired of the phone calls, and was told all of this. If I would've known that, I wouldn't have kept hanging up on them. The guy I talked to had me off the list, and I haven't had a call since.- Caller: medco
- EllenHave recvd numerous calls from this number and no one ever on the line. Called back and got busy signal.
- CoreyThey call me every few days. It is getting really annoying now. Is there a way I can put my cell phone on the do not call list for Medco or whatever numbers they're calling from?

- LisaI get calls frequently from this number, Medco, which is legitimate (though annoying!!).... My husband's company has their Prescription Drug ID through Medco and our insurance. Medco is new to us for 2012 (replaced another company), and that's why we've started receiving the calls. This is to allay the aforementioned fears of the call being from a bogus caller.... Not true. Just annoying, for sure.

- JeryGetting calls. They do not leave a message. Has been happening several days a week.
- RytherI keep getting the same number 772-335-4498 calling me every other day. Weekends as well. I answered the call a few times with no one on the other end. Just the other day a woman stated they were MedCo. This is the company who manages my prescription plan provided by my employer. They asked to speak with my wife which I though was unusual since I am the one who is the main insured. I stated that she is not the insured and they stated my name. They asked me for security purposes to speak further with me to provide my DOB and address. I simply told them I was not providing any information and that they should have on file. I told them if they ask me specifically the information they have on file to confirm I will but I was not providing it to them. I told them if they need confirmation of anything send it in writing and I hung up. Still get calls with no one on the other end. I would be cautious to provide any info as people can use programs to alter the caller ID they are calling from.

- Ryther replies to I have the answerI agree that you should ask to be removed if you do not want to be offered generic drugs but with that said it would be nice if the system they use to repeatedly call you would come up in caller ID as MedCo.
They also should have the system leave a voice message if you do not answer as why they were making the call. I think it would resolve a lot of concerns to the validity of the call and not require the constant-almost harassing numerous calls. - Al BCell phone rings 2 or 3 times. By time I answer no one there. Call back and get a busy signal. This happens several times a week. Phone is from St. Lucie(?) Florida.
- Bretaigne JonesThey call twice a day, every weekday. When I answer it triggers a call back to them. I just hang up.
