Sorry but no, the hotel isn't to blame because I haven't been in a hotel for decades.  I also haven't had any elderly relative being duped.  Though conspiracy theories give us a sort of sense of control and logic, there is no conspiracy.  Scam artists simply use autodialing.  They don't need to know your phone number because they just work through blocks of them, the machine dialing one at a time.  You give scam artists WAY too much credit for cleverness.  All they need is a machine that dials one phone number at a time, sequentially, without pause.

This number called my DNC listed landline today at 1155 hours.  As I typically get one or two scam artists calling me every weekday, I didn't bother picking up.  I came here instead, saw that it's the same old crap, and blacklisted the number on my call blocker.  Naturally, the scam artists will spoof yet another phone number and will try again in the future but I'll ignore and block that call too.  As legitimate companies would abide by the DNC list, there can be no doubt the caller was a scam artist.  If it was an actual company then they're calling illegally which, in my mind, puts them in the same boat as scam artists - and that's one boat I'd love to see sent to the bottom of the ocean.

I got a call from (786)708-4154. I answered it and said, "Please take this number off your calling list." Legally, they are supposed to listen, so this almost always works. But the man said in an accent, "Sorry, I can't do that" and hung up on me. Hope they shut this illegal operation down soon. If they harass me with another unwanted phone call, I will report them to authorities.

I am in Connecticut and just got a call from this number.  I do not answer if I do not recognize the caller-ID, then if they do not leave a message I assume they are a telemarketer and I block the number.  So this number has been added to my blocked call list.

My phone number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry since August 2003 so if they are telemarketers, they are violating the law.

To block calls like this I got a Panasonic KX-TGE245B that allows me to block up to 250 numbers and/or area-codes.  Panasonic has several new 2014 models that will block that many numbers.  You simply save the CID to the blocked list.  You can also block area codes by adding them to what they call a “Range List” (you are blocking the range of numbers starting with that area code).

There are several types of call blockers & call blocking phones.  I suggest you get one so at least you only need to deal with any caller once.

Last call from this number was in March.  Back again today at 1120 am PDT.  Call hang up.  Please remember about these obnoxious things that have two legs maybe:  Please do not respond to them, they make money off of you thinking you are getting even with them.  It only sets up more of these crooks to call more of us nonstop.  Report them all the time.  Remind impaired and elderly to never answer the call or give them any information.  Ever.  It is so sad that the elderly get more insecure and then you have to feed them this type of information to confirm they are right about all people being bad.  Before you think you are punishing them when you talk to them -- think of the millions or billions they steal from people each year as you feed them with temper tantrum reactions to their obnoxious calls.  Be wise!

Upstate NY-this number is on our caller id.  We have do not call so annoying beep, beep on answering machine.  I did not call back since the number was not one I recognized.

Answered call. When caller said he was calling from US solar I told him I was on the do not call list. Before I could ask him to remove my name from his list he hung up on me.

We got a call from this number today at 1:33 pm and didn't answer. The caller ID was MIAMI FL. No voice mail message was left. The number will be added to our call blocker.

Got a call from this number tonight. The caller ID indicated that the call originated in Miami, Florida. When I told the caller (male, American accent) that the person he was looking for was unavailable and that I could take a message, he became aggressive and abusive.

Why cant the government stop these calls.... You cant block because they always change their number. IT is getting annoying... I sometimes pick up and hang up right away to disconnect them.. when I see their number listed on caller id like just their city or something else.... I wonder if there is anything we all can do to get HELP with these annoying phone calls....

You forgot to mention the best part of the panasonic system is the first ring before the caller ID is sent is silent so other than the display lighting and read blocked caller no more annoyance from any area code or number you blocked

I try very hard to not answer any number I do not recognize---So I have disconnected my answering machine and now let all garbage numbers go to my FAX machine---It works

It was a real person supposedly from "Solar Panel USA." I think this was the second time from this company. The first time they said they were offering free solar panels, and I said they couldn't call me because I was on the Do Not Call Registry. This time I added the number to my call blocker. I don't remember if it was the same number last time.

They are trying to sell solar panels....TELL THEM YOU ARE A RENTER and don't own a home....they don't call again and hang up quickly.
