- Got a Call| 1 replyI have no business with BB&T at all, yet someone I know received a call asking for ME to call them up at the number. I am on time with all my payments and have no accounts with BB&T. The fact that people are posting here with poor grammar in support of this number lends further credence to the fact that this is a scam call. Why else would people come to this page if they haven't received a call from them? How else could they know about this number in relation to BB&T unless they were working for the scammers?
It's been said before but cannot be said enough, DO NOT respond to this number in any way, nor give any personal information. - Jae replies to Got a CallThis is a real BB&T number. I know because I actually checked with BB&T. The debt belongs to my parents who passed away and I was contacted as their rep. So, ignore at your own peril!
- nicWow. This is quite the thread.
Just got a call from this number, glad I didn't answer.
(For the record: I don't bank with BB&T, and never have. I have absolutely no outstanding debt (or even late payments) with anyone) - Wayne VA replies to BBT EmployeeYou are an inconsiderate ass!!
- anna potter| 2 repliesyes this is BB&T and yes we call on Sundays, and will continue to , you have to pay your bills, and yes we will
repo your car also...- Caller: bb&t cooections
- Call type: Debt collector
- WolfmanJack replies to anna potterAmazing, the hiring bar must be really high there since you can't even spell your company name correctly. Perhaps you could redeem yourself by posting the legally physical address of this company.
- MidNYteStorm replies to anna potterThanks to your post, I believe this is a scam.
- 2horsesThis number is BB&T Collections ... however, the person calling should make sure before they reach the customer and start speaking in a nasty accusatory tone that the information the rep has is UP TO DATE. I got a call about a past-due car payment that was made - yes it was 12 days late due to unforeseen circumstances - yet the rep said it had not been paid. I gave the rep the info from my Bank of America account showing that the payment had cleared my account and BB&T had the money. The rep said "Well, that's not what my records are showing!" So I hung up, immediately called the loan line to get my balance due which I will be paying off next week. No more BB&T business from me, ever. No collections rep should ever speak that way to a customer, especially when the customer gives them the payment information. Maybe collection reps would like to be sure the information THEY have is correct before calling?? Obviously, that would be too easy and no credit for making a collection call. Ridiculous.

- Dj replies to SleepingI received a voice mail from this #, gruff sounding woman. I called the # back, recording said it was BBT. Held for a moment and line was answered by same gruff voiced woman. She asked why I was calling and I told her I was returning a call from them. She asked for acct #. I refused to give it to her. She asked for SS#. Told her I would give her the last 4 digits. She said that wouldn't help her see why I was being called. Told her I was not giving my SS# out on a call that I didn't initiate. She said ok and hung up. My mortgage payment comes out of my acct automatically, my pay checks are auto deposit and I keep at least $2000 in checking and $5000 in savings at all times, so I have no doubt that this is just some type of scam.
- In Florida replies to Shameful employeeWhat is the MAILING address for the collections department of BB&T? Also, is there a fax number associated with this phone number?
- Digital age. replies to BBT EmployeeYeah bbt bought my bank. Screwed up my automatic mortgage payment. Now they say they cannot arrange for a new automatic debit, which is required in my mortgage note, without faxing me a piece of paper that I have to staple a blank voided check to and mail back to them.
Because they are apparently stuck in 1970.
I had money in the account and asked my branch bank to get me in touch with the person in the mortgage department who could arrange for a debit. Never happened.
People miss deadlines. Banks hirebassholes to call them...like you.
But only a really really really [***] bank manages to make it so hard to pay them that people give up.
Seriously, people in my area make fun of how badly your bank has screwed the pooch in this merger. - ANNA POTTER replies to responsible, yet disabled| 1 replyDO NOT BUY THINGS YOU CANNOT AFFORD 800-222-1913

- joeI called BB & T and they tell me this is a scam and has nothing to do with the bank.
Needless to say this is the 5th time they called today alone.
So I confronted the person and asked for my $500 as I am the BB & T do not call list.
Person hung up. - JimThey keep calling but I have no Loan or account with BB & T
Scam If it was BB & T the caller Id would confirm a working number at the company - JOE JOEI called BB & T who disavowed any knowledge of calls to my phone number.
They told me plan and simple this is a "SCAM" as my number is not in the system. They claim 1,000 of customers are being affected due as they have been hacked!
Said they could not help me as they are not affiliated with this "SCAM" and would never cold call people for a loan or account details without a full caller ID and written notification first.- Call type: Prank
- Va GalCalled my cell at 7:20 pm. Said they were BB&T - when I called back got an automated msg. Hung up. Called the next day AT MY WORK number (a no no). Told them this was a work number (public btw) and that I was going to the bank to deal with the bank officer and tellers and NOT giving them any information over the phone. Hung up on them. Suspect that this in about a loan I have w/ BB&T that is NOT overdue. Will be instructing my co-workers to ignore any of their calls.
- Caller: BB&T contracted debt collection service
- Call type: Debt collector
- Va GalA follow up - called my branch bank office to call this number and a) tell me who it was and b) why they were calling. They verified it was a BB&T number , and the call was because I was late LAST month (and paid the overdue plus due amt) so they call now at the first of every month EVEN THOUGH I do not have to pay by terms of my home loan until 23rd of the month! GRR. I didn't argue with my branch officer - but they are INCORRECT. I did in fact pay the over due amt the day that I paid the monthly amt due (in addition to the over due amt). I have never liked BB&T, I like them less now. If I didn't have my loan with them, and my pay roll wasn't direct deposited to them, I'd NEVER deal with them again, and would take my business elsewhere in a heart beat. Word to the wise - if they call - verifiy with your branch officers NOT them. Never, never give that information over the phone. If they don't know you and you don't know them - then NO NO NO. Always go in person to the bank when dealing with these matters - never go through some phone call out of the blue. And BB&T? Get a clue. People aren't going to work with you this way. Automate the call - tell the caller the amt over due or what the call is FOR up front - eg. Car Loan overdue. Then the person has been informed and can ask at the branch. Asking us to do this over the phone or computer.

- NancyI have been in a professional position for over 40 years with 8 of those years working for the bank and I am sure that the BB&T employee is not really an employee, but someone that just wanted to sound off. No bank employee would ever speak that way about customers, because the customers provide the business that keeps the employees in a working position. I, too, am receiving many calls from BB&T from various numbers and intend to call them today. Apparently, there is a scam going on and the bank should be aware of this. I had an automobile financed with them, set up on automatic draft, came out the same day every month and paid the last payment on Tuesday(never late). Somehow, someone has gotten my financial information and I want the bank made aware. If you are receiving unwanted calls, then someone has your personal information as well and you need to contact BB&T. Please everyone disregard the individual that was so nasty, as you are giving him the attention he wants.
