ID said Toll Free Call but it really is Wells Fargo.  I had a loan that used automatic deduction from my checking and the loan was paid off last month.  BUT, the final payment was different than all the previous payments and so their computer did not take the money.  I didn't know, assumed it was paid, but technically that made the loan overdue hence the phone calls.  I called them back, they had all my loan details without me giving them my SoSec or acct numbers, just my phone number.  I was able to make the final payment just by telling them to do it, no details or acct numbers.  It is Wells Fargo ...

SOB's from Wells Fargo collections dept.  I have a personal loan through WF, and if your loan is more than 7 days late they start calling you multiple times a day.  Just today I've gotten two calls from this number on my cell phone, and two on my landline.  They have called as early as 8:00 AM Mountain Time, which I DO NOT appreciate since I work nights and usually sleep until at least 10:00 AM.  Thank you, Wells Fargo; I'm well aware of the fact that my loan payment is late, but it's due to medical hardship which you've already been made aware of.  What a bunch of [***]!

Wells Fargo will always send you a letter and in that letter you will find their official numbers, address, and issue. These posts saying this is a legit call and/or numbers are most definitely posted by the scammers themselves!

One day, these types of people will reach the end of their stealing and scamming efforts! They will get what is coming to them!

You have no clue what you're talking about.  I have a personal loan through Wells Fargo which is now 5 days late, and I've been getting calls from this number all day today.  The number is listed on Wells Fargo's web site, for hell's sake!  See for yourself:

Do you REALLY think that all the people posting here are scammers who are making up phony Wells Fargo sites just to try and scam people?  Get over yourself, because 800-241-0028 is a legit Wells Fargo Collections number.

If it is Wells Fargo they need to communicate between departments. I have made arrangements with them to make a payment and I still receive calls.

I believe that the software their are using is not accepting the payment plans and simply believes that the whole amount is due.  Either that or the people you have talked to are not correctly entering the information.  I would send them a certified, return receipt letter detailing the understanding that you have regarding the payment plan and telling them that unless you violate that plan they are not to call you.

ask someone, preferably a teenager, how to block phone numbers on your phone. problem solved. you're welcome.

I receive this call every morning like clockwork.  There is nobody on the other end.  The call then disconnects.

Talked face to face with Wells Fargo ..they NEVER ask for your account number over the phone. Guy called for 15th time 15 days in a row from 1-800-241-0028 ..he said they don’t ask for account number and that it sounded weird. I told him to call his own number and he’d see that’s the first thing you’re asked for. LYING SCAMMERS!!

Keep getting this call coming in on my work phone .. can't block it because its on my work line ... have declined the call many many times and they keep calling but don't leave a message .....

The few callers above who have sworn this is a Wells Fargo number are so wrong and the callers above claiming to work for Wells Fargo are liars and scum of the earth.  They are after your SSN.  Well that is their money maker.  This is a scam and the pigs are out to steal your savings.  Do not trust any of these money grabbers.  They call individuals continuously until they find a loophole.  DO NOT RESPOND.

Don't call the # on the back of your debit card. #0028 is Wells Fargo collections for personal lines and personal loans. Not anything dealing with your debit card/credit card...
