Call made very early in the AM stating that I was making unwanted and abusive calls to Verizon Wireless. This is becoming a regular issue and certainly untrue. I've also received a call before 7AM asking if I was satisified with Verizon; that number came up as unavailable. I truly doubt that customer service would be making such a call on a Sunday AM at that hour. I've had this number for years and would like all this nonsense to stop.

I received a call from this number at 5:30 AM.  Who is this?  It was a wrong number as the person she asked for is not me.  How do I stop them from calling me?

Don't give them any info. They called me phishing for info to complete my account transfer from Alltel to Verizon. I called Verizon *611 to verify that this was legit and they told me it was not, that no one would ever call me from Verizon requesting my info like that.

If you did give them some info like my stupid butt did, call Verizon and have them change your password stat.

Did the same thing, gave them info.  Thought better of it after reading this post, called Verizon and sure enough - no one on thier end was calling me.  Password changed and additional passcode set to account.
    Thanks for the heads up!

They called and asked about my switch from Alltel to Verizon and wanted account information that only I could answer. I said, "uh I am not comfortable answer...CLICK!" They hung up on me because I felt that they were scamming me...which they were.

It is definitely a scam.  Unfortunately I gave them some information thinking it was legit, and then I started immediately getting texts from verizon saying I changed my password and my email address.  Very quickly they changed my account information and locked me out of my account.  They also shut my husband's phone off and transfered the number to another phone.  Report them to Verizon immediately.  Their text messages even look legitimate.

I received a call today telling me that Verizon has stopped their new every 2 program and that they were going to credit my account in the amount of $2190.00.  They wanted my login id and said that they needed my password to verify the account.  I refused and they did everything they could to try to convince me to give it to them.  I called my local rep on another line and he said that it sounded really fishy and that I should ask for a phone number to call them back at.  They gave me 800-256-4646 which "appears" to be Verizon, but is not the customer service number.  When I asked for a name, they hung up on me.  Needless to say, I immediately changed my login id, password and challenge question.

They did seem to have a lot of information about me, but it is pounded into you not to ever give out this type of information unsolicited.

    Stay safe people!!!!!!

I sometimes have to call Verizon, and I remember their phone # as 1-800-2-join in.

    1-800-2-JOIN-IN
    1-800-2-5646-46
    1-800-256-4646

If you're getting calls at inappropriate times, I would suggest calling them during "regular business hours" and speak to a manager. I wouldn't call outside of business hours, because chances are the "higher ups" within the organization would not be the ones working nights or weekends.

    Good luck!

My wife received a call from a person claiming to be a Verizon rep needing to verify payment information due to a new system they have.  She gave our debit card information, then realized the potential for fraud.  We had to call our bank and cancel the card - Verizon will never solicit your personal information over the phone.

This is NOT a scam number.  This is simply Verizon Wireless Customer Service calling.  You generally will receive a call from them if you are interested in purchasing a new phone or contract, or if you have made a customer inquiry regarding the purchase of a new phone.  Like the other poster said, it is 1-800-2-JOIN-IN, which is Verizon Wireless.  Yes, if you purchase a phone using their telephone system, they will of course ask you for your credit card if you do not want to be billed for the upfront amount due.  Nothing fishy, nothing wrong. Come on people, caution is one thing, but stop misleading people.

    STOLEN ID
These idiots at Verizon are so stupid they shouldn't be allowed outside their homes let alone have a job. Someone tried to open an account under my name and I received a letter confirming application. When I spoke to them they found the account thru the app # and "supposedly" closed it, and connected me to the fraud dept. After 2 weeks, with no return calls from the sales dept., to confirm the acct. closure, or the fraud dept. to help me find out how and who did this, I called back and spent another hour talking to these [***], that now cannot find any info by acct app# or my name or my address or the contact # on acct. that they gave me 2 weeks ago. They all said that neither sales nor customer service could actually close this acct. so 2 people 2 weeks ago lied to me, and not finding any info now does NOT mean that the acct was closed. Only the fraud dept can do this, and after 3 more calls because sales and customer service said they would transfer me but just hung up, for some other lazy ass to have to deal with it. This says a great deal about this company. I spoke to 6 people over 3 weeks time and no one helped, no one called back, no one did a darn thing. I will never do biz with verizon and will always try to persuade people from using them. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!
