- Megan replies to lynneIn India they have entire companies who hire Indians and train them to scam Americans.
They get paid to do this and bonuses for "scamming the dumb Americans"
They teach them the IRS scam and tell people they owe money and if the do not pay the sheriff will be at their door in 30 minutes. SHAMEFUL! - jaun valdez replies to RockyBullcrap -- this is a scam 100%. Scammers can spoof any telephone number to make it appear they are calling you from that number! NEVER take a call from this number or give information over the phone from a phone call YOU did not originate! Scams abound, people. Use common sense: don't believe a dang thing from anyone that calls you.

- Eric| 1 replyRep with an Indian accent claiming to be from Verizon. He said I was selected to receive $99 credit to my bill for being a loyal customer. We've been with them for some years so I thought this was legit. He asked for my pin number but our account is under my wife's name so I told him I didn't know it and asked for a call back number so she can call when she's off work. He said that he could wait and we could 3-way the call. I told him she was at work. He then asked for her full name and and last 4 of her social. I unfortunately gave him that info but when he insisted again to 3-way call her, I wised up and hung up the call.

- EEA man with a thick Indian accent called to let me know that we were overcharged and would be receiving a refund of $20. I could receive it on a Visa gift card or directly to my account. He needed to me verify my information to include pin number. I am not the main account holder and they did not know my name despite it being on the account as a secondary. I told him that I was not comfortable doing that and he replied that I could pick it up at any local store and then hung up.

- BigA replies to EricWell, expect your phones to stop working shortly. They have enough information to go to a Verizon store, report your phones as lost or stolen and then buy some really expensive phones using your account. I can't believe you gave them your wife's SS#.
I would suggest that you have your wife read this:
If you feel your SSN has been compromised, in addition to putting a fraud alert at the 3 credit bureaus, you may want to notify the IRS. Here is the link, fill out the proper form (probably 14039):

https://www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/report-identity-theft - Rachel in TexasThis maybe a genuine Verizon number but scammers are using it to spoof caller ID. My husband received a call to which he couldn't understand the heavy Indian accent. He handed the phone to me. The man said he was calling to give him $99 off our bill but needed to verify info of the account holder... Well, I'm the account holder, so why would they call the number who's not? If they want to give me $99 off, why would they call? Then ask for info? I've been a Verizon customer since we had car phones. I've never had Verizon call me to give me anything. He couldn't understand me and he hung up on me.

- MommaThis number has called 3-4 times a day for months. The calls start at 8:30-9:00 am and continue until 9-10pm. It’s ridiculous. I’ve blocked the number but somehow they still come through
- tluvsCalls me once a week. I don't answer. IF it was Verizon, they would leave a message. They never do. I decided to answer the call today, say hello and hit mute and they hung up. I do not think Verizon would do that.
- ChristinaI just got a call from this number. They told me I qualify for a $99 rebate on my next Verizon Wireless bill. I doubted it was actually verizon but kept listening. They asked me to confirm the last name on my account, so I did. Then they asked me if the first name on my account was correct. I said yes. This is where I started speculating because Verizon will always ask you to confirm the full name on the account, not just the last name. So then they ask me to confirm the last four digits of my social. They read out 4 numbers that were definitely not the last 4 of my social and I told them no, that wasnt't correct. This was where major red flags came up because I don't think Verizon has ever asked for the last 4 of my social and if they have they don't just blurt it out, they ask YOU for it. So then after telling them that was not the last 4 of my social they asked me for the last 4 digits on my account. I told them I didn't have that information in front of me. This guy was stumbling on his words the entire time and I could hardly understand him. So then he repeats himself though he says, the four digit pin on your account, can you confirm that? So finally I told him I didn't think this was a legitimate call from Verizon and I told him I'd call customer service myself. He just politely said ok, you can do that. And I hung up. I'm smart enough to know it wasnt a legit call and I won't waste my time calling Verizon. But this call was definitely a scam. This phone numbe definitely is a Verizon Wireless phone number but this caller is definitely using a spoofing program to fake the number. If I was getting a legitimate rebate of $99 from Verizon Wireless they would have just credited my account. They wouldn't call and need to confirm any info on my account.
- ChilihuahuaCalls and calls until I blocked it. No message left.
- RajishI got a call today offering $99 off a new device today. I knew right away this was a scam. Verizon reps are all in the USA. I asked them for the name on the account. They had my name but that was not the name on the account. I told them that was not the name and who is this? She said Verizon again... I said no you're not. Who is this? She hung up.
Watch out people. Its super easy to spoof a caller id.- Caller: INDIAN SCAMMER

- TexasDudeI received a call from someone who claimed to be with the Verizon Rebate Team. They said they were giving me a one-time $99 rebate for being a loyal customer. All I had to do was give them my PIN to ensure they were talking to the right person. I told the person he was funny and hung up on him. The number that showed on caller ID is (or at least was) a legitimate Verizon number. I suspect the number was "spoofed" to make it appear it was from Verizon when it was actually from a different number trying to scam me.

- Marianne WCall received advising I was being given a $99 credit on my account for being such a loyal customer, paying bills on time, etc., but ai needed to give acct verifying info such as my PIN, etc. When I confronted him as a scammer, he repeatedly denied the accusation. I hung up.

- drpepper023Got a call today from this number claiming to be Verizon. Said I have been chosen to receive a 49 dollar credit for being a good customer. Nope, knew it was a scam. Did not even have to call Verizon to verify. you would more than likely get a notification from verizon on your account webpage not some random call.
