- MelA recording stated i'm being rewarded for being a loyal customer with a $50 gift card and 2 free months of service. I've been with VZW since the 90's with my Motorola StarTac and never received any kind of reward before lol. It asked me to press 1 to accept or 0 to decline. I just hung up. Then went to VZW site and changed my password and security questions. I'm also set up to receive an alert on my phone if there is any activity on my account.

- CathyThis # kept calling my phone, I never answered but it DID leave an auto voicemail offering $50 ...."to accept, press 1" ....etc. called twice in an hour. Obviously scam/phishing. I have blocked this number
- Caller: Did not leave company name
- JulesThey called about a $99.00 rebate that was supposed to show up on my next bill. Then they asked for my pin to verify my information - I hung up.
- Caller: Fake Verizon

- MartyThis is a verizon number but some scammers are spoofing it. Got a call about my Verizon account and a $99 rebate, but told them I didn't have a Verizon account and they hung up.

- The DoctorCID only stated "800 SERVICE". I believe if it really was Verizon Wireless, it probably would have come across VERIZON or VZ WIRELESS or something like that. But since I don't have Verizon Wireless, it's just another bunch of scam/spam/criminal activity.

- Scam Dodger replies to Bob in TXSame thing happened to me, except I didn't do anything for a minute or two and they hung up
- AnnoyedSo I just got a call from "Verizon" it was a robo caller saying they want to give me a $50 gift card and two months of free service to celebrate 2 years with Verizon Wireless, and all I have to do is give them all my account details. No thanks. And by the way, I've been with Verizon Wireless for 16 years, and I'm not stupid. Called Verizon and they verified it was not them that called me.

- TonyThe scammers have the ability to make any number they desire show up on your caller ID. That said they send you the real Verizon number to add credibility to their scam.

- WendyReceived call from this number at 2:22pm on Easter Sunday, April 1st. What legitimate business would ever call on a holiday? Besides that, I am on my company's Verizon plan so I don't even see the bill, I don't have an account number, I don't have a pin, etc. That alone should tell you skeptics not to fall for this BS. That so many of you take these calls as legitimate is downright scary. Are you really that gullible?? Really? Don't EVER answer unknown calls, don't press 1 to opt out, don't demand to talk to a human, DON'T DO ANYTHING! Come to sites like this one (there are several out there) and check the number. If nobody left a message, it's not legitimate. Legit callers will leave a message. Block the number and be done with it. Stop whining and complaining about repeated calls from the same number. Just block it. Period. End of discussion. These come in via Voice Over IP (VOIP) from overseas and cannot be stopped. Doesn't matter if you're on the DNC call list. Avoid the aggravation and just block these idiots. It's really simple.

- SIBI was on Verizon chat to get something off of my line. The rep told me I had to call 800-256-4646. I thought that was strange. So I went onto their website and looked up the numbers for help. None of them matched. So I called *611 from my phone and the guy helped me do what I needed. I asked him why the online chat could not help me. He said that online help can no longer cancel services, you must call in. So it made sense the online chat gave me a phone number, but something gave me pause and I am concerned that none of the numbers matched the one on the chat. I have had weird stuff with hackers breaking into verizon communications before. Always double check.
- JayBee| 1 replyThis is definitely verizon. I called and was disconnected and they called back from this number
- Caller: Verizon
- Tygerkat replies to JayBeeIf you know who called you, why did you look the number up?
Besides, even if it was Verizon for you that doesn't mean it is for everyone. Scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time. - JimAutomated Call claiming they were Verizon Wireless and offering a $50 gift card as a reward since i had been with them for more than 24 months. I hung up then called back and to talk to an agent it wanted me to enter my account pin. It's a very classic SCAM!
- Not Fooled replies to RockyI haven't called or contacted them recently about purchasing a new phone or contract and two phones on my places received calls from this same number seconds apart and voicemails at the same time. Also, I did not purchase a phone through their phone system, I did so in store a year ago. I do not currently have a bill due, so the calls and the way they came is fishy to me and they're not getting any information.
- rsfinnA computer-synthesized voice offering two months free service if I pressed '1' — obviously *not* Verizon Wireless sales, but some entity spoofing their phone number. I called back the number, reached a live representative, and calmly explained that it is in Verizon's best interest to work more aggressively to reduce the amount of unwanted spoofed calls, or their own business could be impacted. The representative agreed and said she would pass on my concerns.
I don't pretend that one such call will make a difference, but if everyone who received a call with a spoofed 800 number took a minute to call back the number's owner — especially when the number belongs to someone like Verizon — then perhaps things might begin to change. We clearly cannot rely on the government to help, but if corporations feel their business is impacted, then we might get some relief.- Caller: unknown (NOT Verizon Wireless)
