re fraud prervention, seems legit, but do not return call using this number. Instead, call the customer service phone number on the back of your credit card.

Call was legit but verified it by calling  the number on the back of my card.
    Thanks

I can verify that. After reading this thread, I called the number on my card, punched in appropriate items, and was sent straight to the fraud department. Seems there are a number of card numbers that were somehow compromised.

This is indeed fraud alert with 1st Bank of Omaha card services. I appreciate them watching and questioning unusual charges before they become an issue.

If in doubt, always call the number on the back of the card, talk with the fraud department, and ask them the questions to determine if they really phoned. You'll know immediately if a hold has been placed on your card, and you can solve the problem with them on the phone.

Don't assume it's a scam. Follow up. Then post accurate information not assumptions.

I got an e mail telling me I had suspicious use of the card. I called the number provided and gave some info, they looked at my account and said that there had been some activity in a foreign country. My wife is overseas and the details fit the scenario that I expected. I called the number on the back of the card and verified that the call was OK. It was. All is good.

LEGIT!  I received several calls and an email about fraud protection and to call their number back.  They gave me a reference number to respond with as well. Being suspicious, I found the credit card they were referencing.  Instead of calling back the number on the voicemail I instead called the 800 number on the back of the credit card and asked them if there was a problem. They said "yes".  Someone charged my account $263.00 for a train ticket on a Norwegian rail train the day before.  I said it wasn't me and so they cancelled my credit card and immediately issued me another one which will be mailed out today.  Nice!

While this number may be a legitimate bank fraud number, NEVER NEVER NEVER give out any information to the caller or call back on this number. It's much too easy for scammers to spoof phone numbers these days. Imagine all the victims you can reel in by spoofing a legitimate fraud number. The person looks it up quickly while on the phone with you, sees that it's really a bank number, and willingly discloses their credit card number. To protect yourself and ensure that the caller is legitimate, not just the number, hang up and call your bank via the fraud reporting number on the back of your credit card. They'll be able to assist you if there's a real problem and alert you if it's not.

Legit.  It's too bad the email doesn't look the part.

I'm going to go ahead and second what Truth said. The email may be legitimate, but to err on the side of caution would most certainly be the best move. It's better to take a few moments to call the number on the card and know for certain than to call the number in the email and end up someone coming here asking how to get money back after being scammed.

I am Japanese and using ANA USA credit card.
When I was traveling to other places 400 miles far from my home, I got an email from the First National Bank of Omaha that said "We are contacting you because we have noted some unusual activity on your credit card account and would like to verify 5 transaction(s)."
I called the ANA Card USA customer service instead 1-800-288-4206. A Japanese staff connected 3 lines and helped me.
If you have ANA USA credit card, you should call the ANA Card USA customer service.

If this is a legit number, then they should call with a "Concerning card number..."  Which my phone call didn't provide... Sure would help me track down which card they are speaking of...

Besides why am I getting a phone call from these people when I don't have a card with them?

Don't know if the number was legit. Called the credit card company using the number on the back of my card. They could not confirm the number but did verify that they were notifying customers about possible card fraud. Turns out that there were unauthorized charges on my card.

BEWARE!  Received an e-mail saying there were 5 charges suspected.  Checked my account, then checked here.  Glad I did.  I'm calling the company today to report this!

The call I got turned out be a legitimate call from my First Bank credit card. The Fraud Prevention Program had blocked my credit card due to some large purchases I made for my home remodel. I think it's good that they are proactive with purchases made on the credit card to prevent the hassles that fraudulent purchases could cause.

It's a legit number from First Bank.  I also received a call, along with an email from them questioning an online charge I made.  The charge was legit but from a site not familiar to them apparently.  Just doing their job and I thank them for it!

This is legit.  They could do business a little better however.  A simple, "this is ______ bank and we have suspected fraudulent purchases for you card ending in ####, please call the number on the back of your card" would be better.   Normally, I would have hung up and not thought twice about it.  Once I listened for a few seconds and it started asking about actual purchases (with amounts and dates) I hung up and called the number on the back of my card.

REceived email from FirstNationalFraudAlert@fnni.com, saying questionable charges on my CC (which I don't have one from that bank) and told me to call this 800 number.  Thank you to all the people who posted above!  I will not be calling the number!  Sure don't want to be receiving calls from them in addition to emails!

Here's a copy of the email.
