- JenLEGIT!!
I'm not sure why the number appears as 800 but it is a legit number from First National Bank of Omaha. My card number was stolen and used in another state. I did what others states on this site and called the 1-888 number off the back of my card and I'm so glad I did. I did tell the service representative I wish the number would show up as First National Bank and I would have answers. But when it reads Unknown I do not answer.- Caller: First National Bank of Omaha
- EW| 1 replyThis is a legit number from First National. I would call the number on the back of your credit card just to be extra safe, but my account had been compromised when I received a call from them. Highly recommend not ignoring this one.
- Caller: First National
- Tygerkat replies to EWAs phone numbers are easily spoofed its wise to always call the number on the back of your card. Never give such callers personal information no matter who they claim to be. Just hang up and dial the number on your card.
- MBI received a call today as well as an email saying it was FNB fraud detection. I looked up the number on-line and was wary because of the mixed comments, so called the number on the back of my card. I was immediately routed to their fraud detection department. NO SCAM. There were charges coming through for over $1000 each from Great Britain. They canceled my account and issued me a new card immediately. I had checked my account and these charges hadn't posted yet, but they caught them. THANK YOU FNB! Now if someone would just catch the thieves and toss them in jail!!!

- Swirian replies to DAVIDTHANK YOU! Just got the email!
- Jane replies to FNBO CC HOLDERSame here. Turned out someone ran up my credit card over $2000.00. Said they would cancel the charges and close the account and send me a new card. Got the new card and called to check on it and the charges were transferred to it instead of taken off. I'm waiting on my new bill before I call and complain just in case it gets fixed first.
- FNBO HolderLegit number, but if you get a call from them, call the number on the back of your card just to be extra sure. Then you can ask them about getting a call from Fraud Prevention department....there were bunch of illegal charges posted on my card and FNBO said they would cancel my card and send me a new card.
- Call type: Valid
- lawmanOK I was thinking its another BS scams Well just for laughs and giggles I called the real number on the back of my credit card that is issued by First and yep I was compromised. Ohh Lordy They froze the card and they guy in Houston never got his gas. Happy Happy Joy Joy....
- Mike| 1 replyThis was a legitimate number. I got an automated call about fraud on my credit card, which turned out to be correct. This number is PROBABLY safe to call back, but just in case you should just call the number on the back of your credit card.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Mike
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers all the time and give numbers similar to the one they spoof to call back to, so its never good to assume the number is safe unless you know for certain it belongs to the organization purported to have called. Calling the number on the back of a card or statement is always the best idea when in doubt.Quote:This number is PROBABLY safe to call back,
The fact that numerous people have said its "legit" for First Bank and First National Bank is enough to raise skepticism, since those are 2 separate bank entities. - post pending moderator approval
- Mrs. M. replies to FNBO CC HOLDERI'm going to weigh in against the "cardholder" above and side with the first person to report this scam. I do not have a credit card associated with this bank. But apparently my "account" was flagged with having some suspicious activity. The person could not elaborate what suspicious activity was, nor could they correctly name the only credit card I have. This is a scam. It wasn't a mis-dialed number, as they asked for me by name. Be very aware of the cards you do have and know who they are issued by, before ever giving out so much as your number.
- Paulcalled the number on back of credit card instead and there was fraud and they are closing the card and sending me a new one

- Tygerkat replies to JPMattWhy would you bother looking up this number if you already know who called from it? Simply coming here to tell us your call was legitimate doesn't benefit anyone since scammers routinely spoof legitimate phone numbers and, as you said, you should always call the number on the back of your card.
- Tony replies to DAVIDIt's legitimate. I received the same call, then went to my account and there was a ton of fraud on it. If you're not sure, check your online statement first like I did.
- Jon replies to kimNever ever give personal information to someone that calls you take the company name from them and tell them you will return their call. Then either look up the number or look on your card for it. Never ever for any reason ever give out anything to someone that calls you people. That's scam 101. If you call them you will ohmost always be safe.
- JonI will add a reason. Say I steal your CC and use it for fraud. Then I call you abs say their is fraud on your account I need personal information. The fraud is real but now he calls about the fraud himself and gets your new card or worse gets a new CC in your name with the info. Also if your getting a call about fraud and you don't have the card you should be going to the bank website get their number and call them to make sure someone didn't take out a card in your name. People this is 101 stuff you will need this to survive.
- SusanWGot the call, no message. Googled number. Called it back. It was legit concerning some bills I paid for my daughter, things I don't usually do.
