I have received several calls from 800-318-2596 and two messages have been left. The VM says it is from "Medicare" but when I called back I was told I had reached ACA (the rep said "Obamacare."  Those r two separate services.)

He said there was no reason listed for having called me and leaving a message to call back and it was "probably" just a call to remind me to sign up for 2019. When I told him I had not had that insurance for three years, he said something like, "Oh, yes, I see you have not applied since 2016." (What???  Didn't happen.)

He also said he would mark my file for do not call but I received another message from them this morning, same thing.

None of that makes any sense and I can't see it as anything but a SCAM.

OMGosh, are you SERIOUS? Are they sending out FAKE BILLS TOO? The number 800-318-2596 is to HealthCare.Gov and not to AMBETTER health care, so I guess that would be a clue, however a client would never think of that right away. Smart thinking on your part to catch on quickly during the call. I just signed on with Ambetter health insurance, so thank you for posting this. I will be on the look out for scamming bills. I JUST received a call from 800-318-2596 a few minutes ago. This is the third. I've called HealthCare.Gov and mentioned this to the rep. She said this was a new one on her. My caller ID reads Blue COSS Blue, not Blue CROSS, but COSS, so it's scammy. I haven't answered the calls. Plus, HealthCare.Gov WILL NOT CALL YOU UNLESS YOU ASK THEM TO CALL. I've not asked them to call me, so this an attempt to get private info to steal my identity. I did report it to DoNotCall.Gov.

Sorry for the abusive language. Really angry with the scammers. I apologize. My posts will be removed. I'm tired of the junque calls and having so much taken from me from these scammers. I even had marketplace rep not speak English well and I didn't understand her. She was from India I think and I couldn't understand what she was saying and i kept asking her over and over and over "what, pardon me, excuse me, what did you say, sorry to ask again, I didn't understand," both she and I were exhausted. So, I apologize, but there are some marketplace folks who have heavy accents and understanding what they are saying is difficult. Still the calls are FAKE, FAKE, FAKE. Marketplace WILL NOT CALL YOU, so don't believe any of the calls. I asked and was told they will NOT CALL.

I'm self employed and for years I've been insured through my wife's work plan. Turns out they have dropped spousal coverage, so I've taken out my own individual plan through Blue Cross. I assume a byproduct of this is the annoying phone calls from 800-318-2596, and the constant spam email from Healthcare.gov. I'm just waiting for the texts to start so they can complete the trifecta. No message left, which makes me think it's not a call from the government, but rather a third party that has obtained a call list from the government. Shady AF either way.

After reading all of these posts, I have no idea what to think. My call was right in line with a family member BCBS/ACA sign-up. I was reading the gov't is so inept with the ACA program, they are getting other parties involved to make these reminder calls. Possibly they are the robo unprofessionals trying to make their US taxpayer comissions. Still with the jury out for me, it sure doesn't hurt to be very cautious.

Open enrollment is over so there would be no reason to contact you.  Did you ask for information?  They do not call random people up.  This is a well known scam, so as far as I can see the jury has delivered the verdict.

I keep getting calls from this number and it always shows as a diferent company calling with that same number. Trying to talk to these people is insane. They hardly speak english and you have to repeat yourself multiple times.

I know this is a really old comment but wow this person is stupid... The health insurance marketplace is Obamacare. This number is the government calling to help you with an application that YOU submitted

Ok people, not everything is a freaking scam. This number is for health insurance through “Obamacare” they aren’t trying to sell you anything or steal your info. They just want to help you get the insurance you applied for. Yes it’s through a third party company. I work for this company. I promise they will never ask for any info they dont already have. They ask for your address and date of birth (which they already have) to confirm that you truly are who you say you are. But if you [***] wanna [***] up your insurance by ignoring their calls then that’s on you.

It’s not a “call list”. If you get a call from them it’s because YOU applied for insurance through them and they are trying to help you fix whatever mistakes YOU made on your application. And it’s a third party company contracted by CMS, which is the government

This is absolutely a lie. They will call you and send notices in the mail if you mess something up on your application. Stop spreading lies

If you work for this company then you already know who the number belongs to. So why are you here? Not enough people falling for your scam, perhaps?

I get 3-4 calls DAILY and it shows up "scam
Likely". I blocked each number..they sometimes use a phone number beginning with MY area code and 3numbers or not. Then the texts began.
I have spoken to at least 10 people and said I do not need ins from them and to remove my number. It got worse and now it texts repeated with a link I will NEVER* click. Ever since
ACA it has been a sh.. Show.

This number has been associated with SCAM calls for 6 years (since 2013). Perhaps the number is spoofing the healthcare.gov, but when my Caller ID shows BLUE "COSS" BLUE, I'm suspicious about whether it's a legitimate business.
