It really could be a scammer - just because the number was legitimate for you, does not mean that it is for others.  Scammers routinely spoof legitimate numbers, which is why people should not confirm anything via phone or text, but call the number on the back of their card, from their statement, or the number on their bank's website.

Claims to be Discover but it isn't! I called Discover to verify and they keep saying it's not them. This number has called me twice today already

Discover card. Left a message for my ex’s girlfriend. I have no idea how my number got linked to her!! They are trying to collect a debt.

They left a message, it sounded like she said from Scarab Security, but not sure. All these reviews are saying Discover. I did recently apply for a checking account on their website. I think they would email me first. Not going to call back.

they are leaving voicemail massages about discover card. first it was a female caller, now its a male caller.I blocked the phone number,but they are able to still leave the voicemail. about 30 voicemail's I do not own a discover card..

They said they were from discover credit card company wanting me to fax them my ssn and license info in order to keep my account active.

Legit call from Discover Consumer Protection.  Calling to verify recent activity on my card.  I actually tried logging into my account online and was not able to access my account until I returned the call.

Well I think it is a scam becauae I have NEVER had a credit card in my life and there calling me?  I pay cash for my needs and wants  and if I can't afford it then I do with out hence I'm not in any kind of debt! Most people are so stuck on material things its really pathetic. Just remember folks when you die you can't take it with you!

Definitely not Discover. I contacted their main number 800-347-3085 and they looked up the number in their directory and it does not exist. Most likely someone fishing for information.

Not name calling but it is definitely Discover. I just called the number on the back of my card to verify that it was an actual Discover number and they confirmed and did transfer me to the right division. Its the fraud division. They wanted to confirm a couple of charges on my card.

Always call the number on the card to be sure.

Just a heads up. People can call you nd have another number show up even if they are not calling from that number. I'm guessing that both responses from people are correct. It is a Discover number, however, scammers are probably making calls showing they are calling from this number whjen its actually not Discover.

Just call the number on the back of your card, they can tell you if you have been contacted or not. Don't be a victim.

I've been getting calls from Discover Card every day for three months including weekends and holidays on my answer machine with either Fred, Stephanie or Loran saying "It's important that I talk to them. They've given numbers:1-800-347-7588 or 1-800-347-5543. I checked up their official web site out of Salt Lake City and turned it to their Fraud Department. I have no record, have no such card and no record of me filling out an application.  I reported these to our state attorney general and www.donotcall.gov. under the Federal Trade Commission in Washington.

It is Discover and it is their Fraud Division. I do not know why all these other people are saying its a scam unless they do not want to pay their bill. I am glad they called me it was about some suspicious charges on my account.
