- CKI received a call claiming that they are calling from the department of homeland security and told me that they have received information from my country that I have not updated my USCIS number. I was doubtful about the call because the line was very noisy and also the USCIS office closes at 6:00 PM and I have received the call after that time.
- JRI too received the call from same number and said my A# is not updated and demanded me to pay fine of $839 through Western union money transfer. He had some basic information and pulled some info from me. I recognized it as a fake call and refused to do so.
- PB| 3 repliesI have received calls from this 1-800-375-5283 number at least 4 times now. I was careful enough not to give put passport and visa information out. The caller identified himself as Steve from USCIS - Department of homeland security. When I asked for more details from their side, he started talking very rudely to me. I immediately sensed that this is a fraud call.
I even called USCIS back and checked if there is any problem in my file and they assured me that all my details are fine.
Please double check the caller's id and ask questions before giving out any sensitive information.- Caller: USCIS

- Kamal| 1 replyI have received calls from this 1-800-375-5283 number yesterday. The caller identified himself as Steve Marsh from USCIS - Department of homeland security. He said there is a serious case filed against me for my Alien Registration Number was not filled in properly in my i94. He said I will be deported within next 24 hours. When I asked for more details from their side, he started talking very rudely to me. I asked who was supposed to allocate that number and he became very rude.. He insisted that I have a mobile phone with me. It was horrendous period of 2 hours of stress before he hung up as he found out that I didn't have the money to pay for the penalty.

- MaverickHi,
I got a call as well. He named himself as Alex Walter. He threatened me that he would cancel my VISA too. I realized it was a fake call right out. - Deep| 1 replyI also got a call from this number.
The guy had some basic information about me. When I realized it is fake, I asked him to call back after 30 mins. - visaholder1245 replies to DeepI got two missed calls from this number today (Aug 1 2013) early morning 6:30 AM CST. I am not sure if the call i got is from these fake people or actual USCIS
- Vijay| 2 repliesI got the exact same call from a guy called Steve marsh (with a pronounced Indian accent) saying that I have not filled my A# in my I-94(!!!) and I'll have to pay $1954 immediately. He went on rambling that there is a legal case filed against my name and was particularly very rude in his tone. The funniest part was he was asking me to pay the amount without disconnecting the call and that too from 7-11 using money.greenpath (unheard!!!) service. Later it so happened that I told him I don't have the funds to cater this immediately and upon my repeated telling he disconnected the call abruptly.
Guys most importantly if you get this call, PLEASE DO NOT DISCLOSE YOUR OFFICIAL DOCUMENT SERIAL NUMBERS LIKE SSN NUMBER, I-94 number, etc. Tell the person that you do not care about being deported and ask them to send a legal document if they can. They disconnect the call immediately.- Caller: USCIS

- Elspeth replies to VijayUSCIS does NOT call you and threaten you with deportation because you don't have your Alien Registration Number listed on the I-94 form! If you receive a suspect call, like this one, always call the local office - you can find a number to call here - http://www.uscis.gov/
Please do report the calls - if only to alert others of what is going on. The more people know about this scam, the less likely they are to get scammed. - xyzHi,
I got roped into the same USCIS call scam on 08/16/2013 and lost $4800. It was the same call from Steve Marsh and regarding missing Alien number in I-94. Just want to know, if this fraudulent activity going on with USCIS number then why this scam is not on radar of USCIS department and no one taking action against this. Some people sensed that it was scam but what if no one know much about USCIS policy and US law and these frauds have all the information. How do they get all personal information of an individual.
Can't we do something to sent these people into jail. Can't USCIS look into this scam??
Please guys, file case against these scams so that it can brought into US government's notice as only Indian's are getting targeted in this scam.- Caller: USCIS
- ShrikantI have also got the call 3-4 times..first 2 call i received and found this is fraud one. Now I stopped to answer this call. Anyone knows how to get rid from this types of call.

For confirmation he told me a number from I-94 that OMB No 1651-0111(Later came to know, it is common number). He started threatening me that cops will arrest you within 10 minutes. I told, I do not have that much money to pay. He started bargaining with me that How much you can able to pay. finally I decide and concluded that its scam and hung up the phone.
He always trying to maintain phone contact with me contentiously. He not giving time to think and to take suggestions from others.

- AcIt happened to me also. Just now. Got a call from 800-375-5283. The guy said the same stuff -- issue with i94, some number needs to be updated etc. They he took my details and transferred to another guy 2. He asked more questions and transferred to guy 3. In the entire process, I ended up providing details. I guess they already had a lot of details. Guy 3 started asking to transfer $750 through Western Union. Then he hungup after the money transfer discussion went long. Its a SCAM. Dont get duped. And dont provide your details either.
