- JBUSCIS are incompetent. I reported calls from this number to them, to the FCC and to the FBI, but they keep coming. I can't believe that they can't talk to the NSA, trace the calls, and bluntly tell the Indians that they need to act against these scammers. Yes, the calls are from India. I am of Indian descent, and I recognize the accents. Must be a bunch of laid off call center jokers out to try to scam people living here.
- athenaReceived a call from the same number 1-800-375-5283 did not answer it and checked the number online to find this thread figured something was amiss since we are all born and raised in the US so why would immigration be calling our home.

- ATGot two calls just now. When wife picked up guys said there is immigration complaint against me. She disconnected and when I picked up he said there is a complaint against my wife. Heavy accent and broken English. When I said just mail me the documents and don't call again or I will go to police, guy said he doesn't care. Finally disconnected.
There should be a way to shut down these scams.- Caller: USCIS / Immigration 18003755283
- CBI got a call on my home line from 1-800-375-5283 saying they don't have my I-94. To confirm its from USCIS, they called me on my mobile (which I gave , my bad) and the number was same. They also told me USCIS send 3 letters. I told them I always gave my I-94 when i left the country at the departure port. Now I am a US citizen. They said it does not matter, wether a US Citizen or Not, if u dont submit ur I-94 then they will deport me and asked me to go online. to fill. the details and follow the process of sending money (not thru CC but thru some vouchers). That's where my wife saw this and other scam website and we got concerned. I told the person (details probably fake Charles Stuart - Sr Counselor, USCIS - Employee ID 853849) that I have Internet problems and call me back in a hr . The guy started to abuse me and used words that I have never in my 15+ yrs in US heard any customer service person say. I hung up and researched the below site.
I am pretty sure its a scam and want to report it. If any one has similar experience , pls share what the did next.

http://blog.uscis.gov/2013/08/scam-alert-caller-id-spoofing.html - LTCalled business over 10 times. Horrible accent, Hung up when I asked to talk to somebody who spoke English, then called pack repeatedly again. Told him multiple times I didn't know the person he was looking for (had to make him spell the name) Then he asked who I was. I replied 'NOT THAT PERSON'. He hung up again, and haven't heard from him since. (15 minutes)

- Unamused receptionist replies to Teresa KelleyWe just got caller ID, but the voice was the same as someone who has been calling for months. He has a very quiet voice and a strong Indian accent and introduced himself as Kumar the first few times he called. Lately he has simply been hanging up when I answer, but from late May to early June he would call 5-6 times a day to tell me he loved me! He would say he was calling form Vonage, or from the "marriage bureau," or anything else to get me to talk to him. I went to the police about this creep, but there was nothing they could do :/ They believe he is calling from India and bouncing his signal around to make it seem like it came from the US. At one point he gave me the number 281-203-5552, which I tried to use reverse phone look-up on. All I got was a landline in Spring, Texas. :(
If you get a call from this number, please hang up immediately!!! There are creeps out there who will do anything to get your personal info! - KK replies to PSGot the call from 800-375-5283 today, advising me three immigration cases were filed against me. I told them to send me details via registered ad as I hadn't received any paperwork so far. They said they sent me three times the paperwork. I asked to send me the paperwork 4th time and stop calling me and hung up. Immediately, the same person called me again. This time I asked him to shut up and threatened to complaint to police and hung up. Again, the call came in. This time I did not pick up to let him put in any message on my answering machine. He, of course, did not put in any message. Hasn't called again for 7 hours now. Yes, they sounded with Indian accent. Next time, I am going to speak in their language as I am from India. Let us see what happens. Only suckers would part with any information or money to callers pretending to be calling from government agencies. BEWARE.
- Scam AlertGot a call from 800 375 5283 with a guy with obvious Indian accent perpetrating to be USCIS. I could smell curry even talking on the phone with this guy! This is a scam targeted towards SE Asian (Desi) sounding names. Caller would try to intimidate saying you have some sort of immigration violation and you'd be deported unless you immidiately pay them some horrendous amount of money. DO NOT give them any personal information or money!
Apparently a 'spoofed' number as it really belongs to USCIS.- Caller: Perpetrated USCIS

- SusanCaller ID showed "Immigration&nat" "1800-375-5283". A woman's voice with accent ask for me and verify my name, address and phone name, then transfer me to a "senior member" a guy with same heavy accent, saying that I need to updated my I-94, otherwise I will be deported. I tell him that I'm a citizen and told him to fax me the form, he said he can't do that. I suspected it's a scam to try to get my information. So I just told him that I don't believe him, then hung up. But I was still a litter worried, so I search up this site, and relieved that I did not get trick.

- syed nizamuddinI got a call this morning from a woman. First she asked me to confirm my name then she said that she is from INS and that I had multiple violations under my name - like my Alien number is not updated and she kept listing multiple bank violations etc. She asked me to get a paper and pen ready as she is going to give me my file number. She actually made me write down a K file number. I told her I am a US citizen, she said its been cancelled . She then threatened that FBI is on their way to my house in 20 mins to arrest me to deport me to my home country. And I will not be able to enter USA for or eleven yrs. I said I didn't get anything in the mail about any violations and that I will call my attorney. e at this point the call went dead. Be aware of these calls and do not ever give any personal info on phone.

- Monica D.These people are targeting Indians in the U.S. Obviously good number of people are getting frightened and paying up. As long as money can be made these scums will keep calling. We need to spread awareness by asking all Indian associations to warn their members via e-mail. Indian grocery stores should be asked to display warning posters about such calls. There are new immigrants living in large cities who can get intimidated. Please help to spread the word. Temples and Gurudwaras can also help.

- arguruReceived a similar call today as listed on the blogs. The guy was extremely rude, he said I would go to jail, told me not to hang up as I am being under surveillance, recorded etc.. He asked if I was at work, how far is work from home etc. He told me to drive back home immediately with the phone line on. I still hung up his call and found out from my husband that this is a prank call and not to worry. He also sent me the link to this blog.

- CanadaI am from Canada and my dad answered a phone call from an 1-800-375-5283 number.
My dad didn't understand what the guy on the phone was saying so he passed the phone over to me and they were talking about how they are from the USCIS and that there is a legal case or something against my dad even though we are not from the States but, he had information that knew my dad's name and where he is from which was weird. The guy on the phone said he would transfer me to another guy to provide further details in regards to this case or whatever. While he transferred me I searched up the phone number and realized it was a scam to try to get money from you. When the transfer/call got disconnected the same guy called back and apologized about how the transfer got disconnected and he would be transferring me again to an office or firm of Jack Roberts or something like that. Then I started to question him about why he is transferring me and what is the issue here? The guy on the phone then froze for a bit and started making up random things like this is the USCIS calling and I already discuss with you earlier about what this is about and then rambled on and then transferred me. I just hung during the transfer and they haven't called back since. It seems they are targeting immigrants from all parts of the globe so be careful. I am glad I saw this page before the guy called back.- Call type: Prank
