- rude or ignorant| 1 replyNotice that these people who call you are commonly Rude, Abrupt, sound uneducated , and do not sound like they care that much about customer service. They don't leave messages with family members, or just hang up if the person they are looking for is not there. When you call them as some people mentioned they are rude and sound unprofessional.
- Caller: scotiabank, I dont think so.

THESE IDIOTS PRAY ON IDIOTS,

- YOU GUYS ARE BUSTED| 1 replySO I HOPE YOU HAVE NOTICED THAT THESE SCUMBAGS PRAY ON PEOPLE WHO ARE AS DUMB AS THEY ARE. ARM YOURSELF WITH KNOWLEDGE ON HOW YOUR BANK OR CREDIT CARD COMPANY WORKS AND WHAT THEIR CONTACT NUMBERS ARE.
NEVER CALL A NUMBER BACK THAT IS NOT ON YOUR BANK STATEMENT OR ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.
AND FOR GODS SAKE, NEVER EVER EVER EVER GIVE INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE, OR YOU WILL FELL REAL DUMB, EVEN DUMBER THEN THE THIEVES I HAVE POINTED OUT TO YOU.- Caller: SCAM ARTISTS
- Sniper 1Call from 1-800-375-5872 claimed to be Scotiabank, looking for a "Mr. Shawn R Aktinson". What a [***] sad rant they left on my voice mail....LMAO
Called the wrong "dog" this time. Reported this little stunt to BBB. - Me| 1 replySadly a lot of misinformation in these posts. The people screaming fraud have clearly not followed up to verify, or are just trolls.
Confirming this number is simple. Call or drop by your local Scotiabank and let them know you have received a call from this number (The department internally is called NCC or National Collection Centre). It would be common for a teller to not be familiar with the number or department, as they rarely deal with customers in arrears. This can be solved by speaking with the manager of customer service (all branches have them)and they will either let you know it is legit, or call us themselves and we can provide employee numbers to back it up.
For those of you claiming that you cannot be in arrears because your payments come out automatically, it would still be in your best interest to contact us. Automatic payments are far from perfect and can be returned for reasons other than non sufficient funds.
For those of you claiming you have no business with Scotiabank, the call may be due someone with same name as you having skipped out on their debts. If a bank has no contact numbers for an individual (happens often), they will perform canada411.com, or other similar site searches to try and find those people. Someone with your name that lives in the same area of the country as you is not uncommon, so banks will place calls to these potential matches. We will attempt to verify you and if we are unsuccessful we will remove the number. *** Keep in mind while you may be able to dodge us this way, the impacts on your credit rating will remain.- Caller: Scotiabank
- Call type: Debt collector
- DIDo replies to WATCH OUT FOR THESE SCAMSDido everyone if you want to call the bank use the number on the card or the ones listed on your statements. Thats all i have to say about that one!! Call the numbers you have already and know are the right ones the rest simply delete and block.
- Rob replies to pissed offHi Everyone,
I just called scotiabank and confirmed this is their number, for late payment.
I am 100% sure of this.
We gotta make sure dem bills get paid!
If you don't believe me, call your branch and follow up on your payments, you will see theres a late payment situation.
Cheers - ScotiaBank customer replies to ScotiabankI fully agree with Scotia Bank and support his words 100%. A few months ago I held this stupid person on the phone with one hand and called Phone Buster and made a report. I was told to report to Scociate I deal with and I gave them a secret code via a pin pad and the rest is history they got caught and the RCMP and OPP got to what they wanted and could not promise that it would not happen again as there are a lot of hackers on line internet which I never use my Scotia Visa or other to purchase stuff.
So People get a secret code to your Bank and do not worry as the Bank usually sends you a letter to a default payment IF ANY. and this is what you should trust. So excuse you remarks to ScotiaBank, as he is right at 100% .
Oh and How do you know if I am not a cop chequing on people like the responders on this site.!!!!!! ?????
Take care ScotiaCustomer Thanks ScotiaBank Love Yea ♥ ♥ ♥ - MarkThis number is definately Scotia Bank collections. If you call the main Scotia Bank number, they will confirm this. It is always a good idea to confirm before personal information is given out!.

- the dumbass? replies to Sergeno worries mate, got another job, and have never and will never default on a payment, unlike yourself.
whata loser... - formerEmployee replies to YOU GUYS ARE BUSTEDyou're an idiot.
call any branch, ask them to provide you the number for the Scotiabank NCC
they will give you this number. - SmileyfaceI'm sorry but this is a scam. I do not have credit cards or a mortgage/loan with Scotiabank. All I have is a business account. They have called me and they have called my husband, who does have a mortgage with them but it is all up to date. The fact that when you call that 800 number it tells you your call will be recorded for quality purposes, but it DOES NOT TELL YOU WHERE/WHO YOU HAVE CALLED. I have dealt with another large canadian bank and whenever they have a late payment / collection issue they send letters, or leave messages with a name and direct number to call, and a file number. Then when you call there is no doubt you have called the bank you think you're calling. This Scotiabank thing is a SCAM and I am going to try to find a way to report it. Beware people.
- Caller: Scotiabank???
- Confirmed| 1 replyI received a call from this number as well today, and am currently on the phone with Scotiabank (I called their main number), and they just confirmed that 1-800-375-5872 IS their collection centre.
- Caller: Scotiabank
- telemarketerI missed a phone call from 416-750-6018 today and they left a voice mail on my cell, saying they are from Scotia Bank and the call is for this bla bla person (NOT MY NAME), asking me to call 800-375-5872.
I did and the woman on the line told me my cell# is not associated with any file...I said good, so they just dialed a wrong number...The woman said, no, your # must be somewhere otherwise they wouldn't have called em...I said then what this is about...She said, sorry ma'dam, I can't help you because your number is not coming up in any of the files...
It's a dead end for me. I never had any cards from Scotia Bank except a Scene card. (not the debit/visa) I don't see the possibility of late payment.- Caller: Scotia Bank
- Call type: Debt collector
- Becky replies to these people are scumbagsI called the 1-800 number on the back of my Visa card. The person I spoke to did verify that this number 1-800-375-5872 is the National Collections Centre and he transferred my call to them. They were simply making a courtesy call to remind me that my payment was late. It was the first time I've been late on a payment, and it was only 12 days late. If you are unsure whether the number is real, then call your branch or Visa and confirm the number with them.
- BuddyIt is a scam. I called ScotiaBank and they said they have nothing to do with them. Call the REAL ScotiaBank and they will confirm this. If it was a real debt collector, they will have your account flagged when you call them. They will never have a debt collector on your tail if your account is not flagged. STAY AWAY!!! IT IS A SCAM!!!!! Go to the source. Call ScotiaBank for yourself.

- LeeThis is a scam, got a call from a Robert J Atken there today saying call Scotiabank back about an important banking matter. Total scam because I've never even stepped foot inside a Scotiabank in my entire life. I've dealt with TD Canada Trust since my parents set it up for me when I was a child! I have a mortgage with them and a chequing and savings account. My credit card is with MBNA and that is it. Complete scam trying to say I have an important banking matter with Scotiabank. How could I possibly when I've never dealt with them? They look like such a bad bank I'd never even want to deal with them!
- Caller: Scotiabank
- nocreditormortgage replies to ScotiabankI am FINALLY going to have my share of these messages -- just read "Scotiabank's" message from last year. This is totally bs-- I OWN my house, no mortgage, no credit at all with Scotiabank. I am going to get to the end of this bs, I receive multie calls everyday. I usually hang up, then at times just press answer and walk away. I would NOT believe any of this at all.
- DB Tuner replies to YOU GUYS ARE BUSTEDYour and Idiot and you should pay your bills, stop talking about what you don’t know
The number is legit and they tell you to check with the branch if your uncomfortable,
It is common process for collection agencies to verify your info to ensure they are calling the right people but more importantly to gather information on you so they can track you when you’re not paying.
Bottom line is pay your bill or make arrangement to pay them later.
As for uneducated people, the fact is they are the ones who are most likely to not pay their bills, the educated people for the most part are not getting called by the collections department.
