But do you have an reading comprehension?  I am just wondering because that post was made 9 years ago.  I guess the other question is, who would buy a car, take out a loan, and not know who gave them the loan or where to make the payments?

So all these people have reading comprehension problems, too? Because that information would be on their paperwork.

So when you say "they", what you mean is your really talking about yourself and just clicked any ole post reply button and happened to reply to a post 9 years old to report about your call.

If it was that embarrassing to post about it, you didn't have to, your not obligated  to post and could have just closed the page once you realized who it was that called you.

You are welcome. This is a real Scotiabank number. Thanks for misleading so many people and ruining their credit because you convinced them its a scam, when its not. Sorry if you do not like Scotiabank's policy, but if you paid your bills on time you would not have this problem.

"WATCH OUT FOR THESE SCAMS" posted on 6 Sep 2009 and its highly unlikely they will ever read your ranting. Times have changed in 9 years and scammers are spoofing ANYONE's number to attempt to phish/scam people out of money. Just because a number is legitimate, doesn't mean the caller is!

If your credit was ruined because you read ONLY that post, then you have no one to blame but yourself for not thoroughly researching your caller, assuming thats what lead you to this thread to begin with.
You can't be sure who is calling you, since scammers spoof the CID name/number and you need to verify the caller by calling a reputable, official number to find out.
Never trust a caller to be who they claim to be. Always call from an official number to verify if they did.

If I were you, I'd worry about your own debts and not be concerned about others, whom you have no clue about their situation or debt standings. Debt collectors are also know to attempt to extort people who are not in debt.
Take your  "pay your bill, 'cause I'm a shill" act and stick it were the sun don't shine!

It is likely very common. Most people skim the paperwork (I am not one of them for the record)

    Disabused Caller
Four "official" Scotia employees said this was NOT a Scotia number (they say legit collectors number are 1 855). One other did say, at long last, it was Scotia's NCC. The calls first came from 438 469 1727 with is listed by Yellow Page as fraudulous in red. Then again, the people calling are sooooo weird and uninformed, it might well be a parallel system within the system (think Desjardins!). Yet they have infos about who they call, it is scary. Then they just sent a ill printed letter on the bank's letterhead with this precise 1 800 number. One write here that this is a Curtesy Service... Some are far from being polite, and very arrogant (probably fit for collectors). Indeed these people probably work for more than one bank, since they're ill informed about the account details. If they are legit, they should all be fired. If not, the stranger it is... and the bank system is being abused by scammers. Impossible to trust. Just hang up and the hell with the "credit record".
