- GatorMomReceived 2 calls within 15 minutes from this number on land-line, I answered the 2nd one and a computer-generated message gave me recent card transactions, one of which was in S. Africa and had been declined. We don't live in S. Africa. Meanwhile my husband got 2 calls and a text on his cell phone. He called back this number, and transferred to a human. Our Elan Financial Services card number had been stolen. In this case, it was legitimate as we confirmed by trying to log in to our account, which had been blocked, and via the confirmation of transactions other than those given by the computer-generated message. My husband was told this was a "known problem". Hope it wasn't a major data breach.

- arlingCalled three times today in about a 20 minute time frame. First call they left message about credit card fraud for a person not at this number and on an Alliant Business Visa which we do not have. No message left on second or third calls.
- Suspicious replies to dimplesI just got off the phone with US Bank, having called the number on the back of my card. The representative confirmed that this number in question IS NOT US Bank's fraud number. 800-379-8461 is a fraud.
- M. T.I am on the phone with US Bank and they said this number in in fact a SCAM! Do NOT give your personal information to this number. Please call 1 (800) 872-2657 which is US Banks Customer Service number. Please note that I am not a scammer.

- AmyJust got the text message saying there was fraud. Called the REAL US Bank number. She has that number does not belong to them and no fraud was on my account. People that are saying this is real are scammers.

- AmyNumber is not US Bank and people that are saying it is are in on the scam. Unfortunately, I think they target people who they already have bits of information on, like name, last four of card number, address, etc to get your trust. That information can be found pretty easily, i.e. any previous transaction may have that info or simple online search. Our information is already out there and all it takes is one employee a utility/cable company to sell it for some change. The cards may have already been compromised by people who might think this is legit and now they want your identity which you might have given them when you call back. BEWARE of this number.

- RU DaftI received a call from this number indicating potentially fraudulent activity on my card. Even though the caller knew my name and last 4 of my CC number, I still thought this might be a fraudulent call as the caller contacted me on my work number which I thought US Bank did not have on file (apparently they do). I did not call the number left on the voicemail and contacted US Bank directly by the number on the back of my card. My call was immediately redirected to fraud services where they asked me to verify a couple of out of state transaction which I had made and now my account is in good standing. You are smart to question calls like this and your best course of action is to contact your bank on a known published number if you receive a similar call.
- Mister Knuts| 1 replyThis was a legit call from my Fidelity Visa cards fraud prevention department.

- CWG40 replies to Mister KnutsIt's a scam and you're part of it. You're fooling no one. Shills on an 800 number--worse than snakes on a plane.
- MelroseFredScam - called the real US Bank, everything is fine. Interesting the number of shills on this site. Like a previous poster stated, they use proper grammar so they must be English speakers getting paid to post that this scam is legit.

- Kathleen replies to GwenYes, #is legit for a USBank #. I just spoke with them via the # on the back of the card. 800-379-8461 is OK, but always OK to call back of card # if you have any doubt.
- Bud71Do not trust this number. Call the number on the back of your credit card if you suspect unauthorized use of your card. Caller ID shows Cardmember services.

- YD replies to mommyStill active, posing as US Bank, looks like a fraud.
- CindyGot a text message on my cell phone asking if a certain charge on my credit card was valid. Text message also stated that I will receive call from 800-379-8461 and/or I should call 800-379-8461 in order to dispute the charges. These people are scammers trying to get personal information. DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER AND DO NOT ACCEPT THE CALL. ALWAYS CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD TO VERIFY CHARGES.

- John SmithAll of the people in this thread saying they supposedly called the number on the back of their card and were told this phone number was legitimate and that its their fraud department are LYING! I came to this thread because I have also received a call from this phone number, regarding a credit card that I cancelled due to theft SIX MONTHS AGO! It is OBVIOUSLY A SCAM! Just to put the nail in the coffin of the LIARS posting here for these scam artists...this is what ACTUALLY happens when you call the number on the back of your card. The representative will verify your identity, check your account activity, and let you know if they see anything unusual. When you ask them if they would be able to verify the legitimacy of the phone number that called you, they will tell you that they have no way of checking on that. BOOM! DONE! Myths debunked. Liars go get jobs and stop trying to steal money that doesn't belong to you!

- NicoleI received messages regarding charges and to verify if it was me or not that made those charges. I responded with "help" for a text and I called the number they listed (1-800-379-8461). They wanted my full SSN and credit card number. They then tried to say that someone named Robert had a credit card with them and listed my phone number as the contact. I don't know anyone named Robert. Needless to say, it is a scam. I did verify with my credit card company and I didn't not have any fraudulent charges and everything with my card is fine. DON'T GIVE OUT YOUR INFORMATION!!!
