- Luke| 21 repliesClaimed they were fraud prevention for my credit card on my Voicemail. I'm calling my CC company back directly instead.
- Doubtedttoo| 4 repliesYes, this is legetimate. I called my cc company directly and cancelled the card.
- KC replies to DoubtedttooYes this is a valid CC fraud number. I did call my cc company directly but they verified what the person from this number told me. I was able to cancel my card before any more bad charges were made.
- dimples replies to Luke| 13 repliesIt is US Bank's fraud prevention number
- dmacI too got the call from this number and indeed it was US Bank Fraud Prevention for my REI Visa Credit Card.
- Caller: US Bank
- xmenThis number is really from US Bank Fraud Dept. If you're still uncomfortable, call the number on the back of your credit card!!
Have a nice day! - MMy father received a call from 800-379-8461, called them back without talking to me about it, and gave lots of info (including DOB, street address and -- he intially said -- SSN), to my horror. We were talking with the bank to put a hold on his account when he said he actually gave only the last four digits of his SSN, so the bank officer suggested she check on the number called. She was able to verify that the number was a US Bank number and that the person with whom she spoke was a US Bank employee. Huge relief, but (I hope) a good lesson learned!

Since I am on the card with my son and he has the card, I didn't have the number. They asked for my SSN to verify. I GAVE IT TO THEM!!!!!!!!! The warning bells were going off and needless to say I'm a bit nervous. I'm on hold with US BANK as I type....must find out!!!!!!!!!!! AGAIN a reminder to us all, NEVER give out your SSN!!!!! - SB| 4 repliesI received a call this afternoon from 1-800-379-8461 with a recorded message about a possible fraud transaction on our credit card. We had options to proceed by pushing #'s. You had to click on one option to hear the transaction in question. Then after you hear what the transaction was, you have the option of answering if it was legit or click this if it was a fraud. Unfortunately for us, it sounded like it was a charge we did not charge ourselves. The charge was @ a NY store & we live in MN.
The gal went on to explain to me that she needed to close the credit card account. Then I got suspicious & asked her why should I believe her? I asked for her name, but she would only give me her first name so I basically hung up & called the # on our cr card.
Immediately I got the same recording about their suspicion on a charge being a fraud and that our card was blocked. I then finally got a person on the line & it was legit. She had the same info as the other person who called me had & she did verify that that person was a co-worker of hers in the Fraud Dept. So, they did end up closing out our account.
IT IS A LEGIT NUMBER!!!! What a mess!! They were sending us out a new credit card to use immediately.
We went through this a few years ago where we had 2 credit cards used for a total of $60,000 in England!! - WYes, it is legit. Called REI VISA # on back of card, and they connected me with that same company. Do need to give either last 4 digits of SS# or date of birth.
- Angelripper| 3 repliesI received a voice mail from the number in question. Went online to my USBank account, and everything seemed normal.
I then called U.S. Bank customer service. They didn't know anything about it, but the rep suggested I Google the number, which led me to this site.
I then called the number on the back of my credit card and everything that's been said so far on this page was verified.
It IS legit.
Someone HAD used my credit card number for several things.
I will be getting a new card, and the card in question has been destroyed.
I have to say, it's nice to know that someone is keeping an eye out for weird little transactions like the ones that showed up on my card, because I'm not sure I would have noticed them on my own.- Caller: USBank

- ctznReceived a voice mail from this number today saying there had been suspicious activity on my card. When I called back they said it was an automated process that I needed to go through to lift the hold, and was placed on hold to retrieve account info. After being on hold for approximately 1 minute, the call ended. I tried a couple of time and each call, at the same time, ended.
This of course raised my suspicions (hence finding this site) but at least I didn't get to give them any info. The bit that concerns me however, is that in the message they left on my phone they knew the last 4 digits of the credit card. I feel more comfortable seeing everyone on here confirm the number is legit, maybe the program is a little buggy and dropping calls.
The only other reason I found the call strange after checking my account online is that there had been no suspicious activity (at least that I could see).
Calling the number on the card now. - Gwen| 1 replyI received a voice mail from this number this morning, indicating they were from US bank fraud detection service and wanted to verify transactions to my account. Rather than calling the number back, I called US bank directly. Upon imputing my credit card number into US Bank's automated system, I was transferred to their fraud department. Turns out that there were several fraud charges to my account, though they had not yet shown up on my online account. Card was canceled and paperwork pending.
This number is legit, but I would always recommend calling your bank/cc company back directly.

- Jake| 1 replyI got a call from this number. They indicated that they were with US Bank fraud dept. I did not speak with them, but did look up the real number of US Bank fraud dept. US Bank told me that they have no such number. This is a FRAUD!

- BarryJust received a call from this number. Automated voice stated it was from US Fraud Dept. I entered my phone number for validation and then my zipcode. They did not recognize the zipcode and they were going to transfer me to a account representative. I hung up and called the number on the back of the card. They told me that my account was fine (no fraudulent charges) and the 800 number that called was NOT a legite US bank Fraud number. BEWARE
- JBSpoke with a person. Claims to be US Bank Fraud Department about possible unauthorized charges on my credit card. I spoke to a Breanna. She basically was very good at pulling information from you at different times during the converation. Finally after giving her my account number and zip code she still could not find my information. She needed to Last Four of my SSN to pull up the account so she can tell me the charges. Thats when the red light kicked on. Who knows, she probably would want my DOB after the last four. They called me, how come they did not have all the information. I told her that I will call the credit card company myself and did not give her anymore infornmation. Called the US Bank directly. They confirmed my suspicions. There was no fraudulent activity on my account. They did cancel my acct number to be on the safe side and will issue me a new card. For all the people above who stated that this is a ligite number, you probably are involved with the fraud. At least I did not give them any other information for them to steal my identity.

- kkellerHad a message left to call this number about possible fraud on my US Bank Visa. I didn't call it back, but did call the 800 number on my card. There was an alert on my card, and I was transferred to their automated fraud number, where I was able to confirm my recent charges. I don't know if the original number is legitimate, but the message left was accurate.

- VicTHIS IS A TOTAL FRAUD/SCAM. It is called "PHISHING". If you get a call from this number or any other number, trying to pull information about your account number and yourself, do yourself a favor, call the number on the back of your card. The people on the other end of the phone are training to pull out the information from you and before you know it, it is too late. These people who are saying that it is a legit number must be involved with the Fraud.
