- kzI received this call today. I freaked out because some people said it was a fraud and I had already given them all my info. I called the number on the back of my card and they did tell me that there were fraud charges made and the number 1800-379-8461 is a legit number.
Best advice is to call the number on your card. - US BANK replies to Dennis| 2 repliesThis is a fraud number. I work at the bank and they tried to tell me this was a legit number. Do not give them your information. Call your bank directly.
- TRUTH| 1 replyThis IS a FRAUD Number, they tried to tell me they were a legit company but they are not. NO company should ask you for information over the phone. IF they are legit they will already have your information and will be able to tell you exact charges that have been made. Call your bank or credit card company directly. When you call this number it tells you that your account has been blocked and that you need to give them information, that should be a red flag right there. One of my parents works for the bank that my credit card is issued from. They called my parent's home and left a message that I should call this number about credit card fraud. Of course my parents heard that and knew right away that it was not the correct fraud protection number. This number is listed as a Fraud number and Banks do know about it. DO not listen to the above messages above that say this number is legit. Anybody can post on these walls, and I just don't want anybody to lose out on their money. I almost thought this was legit because of the above posts before my parents called me and told me not to respond to the calls.

Please call your bank directly and never give out information over the phone. They tired to scam me too but luckily I have family members who work for the bank that this number said they were from.

- Joel S.This is a scam company. Do not call them back or give them your information.
Based on my phone number, he said that there were two charges on the card there were 'pending' and that I would need to accept them or decline them.
When the guy asked for my card information, I did not get a good feeling and told them that I would call the number on the back of my credit card and asked for fraud department.
My credit card company said that there have been no charges on the account in the last 4 days!!!!
This is a SCAM.
DONT GIVE THEM ANYTHING!
Hang up and call you credit card company to verify directly!- Caller: Band Credit Card Fraud Dept

- pitterpatterThis number does indeed belong to US Bank's fraud department. I was alerted to fraudulent charges made on my Gymboree Visa credit card via this number...was left a voice mail. I double-checked for fraudulent charges by logging into my account online. Sure enough...there were several charges I didn't make. I returned US Bank's call by using this number. They blocked my account and issued me new cards. I received those cards in the mail a couple of days ago. So, if this phone number is a fraudulent number, how would US Bank know to issue me new cards? So silly that other people are posting false information about this number.
- Caller: US Bank Fraud Department
- GetwitItBOTTOM LINE: Always ALWAYS call the number on your statement or on the back of the card. Always. Do not give information about your credit card to anyone calling from this number. And those people who are telling you it's okay to do so are more than likely involved in the scam and simply trying to keep it alive.

- Rebel1 replies to DennisFraud Fraud Fraud!!! Called the number pretty sure that it was fraud. The first thing they asked me was what the last 4 of my ssn and billing zip code. I didn't give them any information and asked which bank they were affiliated with. They said they couldn't give me that information without my account information. I reported them to US Bank and now the actual US bank fraud prevention is working on shutting them down.

- rolling eyesI received this same voicemail and I was worried as well. I didn't call the number they gave me, but did call the number on the back of my card and it truely was a legit call. If your still nervous about it just do the same and call the number on the back of the card.
- BreeThe number is 100% legit. I received a voicemail stating my name and last 4 digits of the CC number saying there was suspicious activity on my US Bank card. I was very suspicious and refused to call the number back. I checked online and my account had no outstanding balance. I called the customer service number on the back of my Credit card and was transferred to US banks fraud prevention department. There was a $55 charge today in Houston, where I do not live. Needless to say, if you receive a call like this, call the number on the back of your card because it is definitely true.
- Jim| 3 repliesWarning, the posts saying this is a legit call are from people connected with the scam.
- CReceived a call this morning stating there was suspicious activity on my wife's US Bank VISA. she checked online and saw no activity. Meanwhile I checked out the given call back number (800-379-8461) on this site. I must say it is hard to tell as 1/2 say legit and the other 1/2 say fraud. She called the # on the back of her card and there indeed had been several charges made this morning. They cancelled account and are sending new card.
We did not contact this number but I can only assume that it is a legitimate number based what we found out from the US Bank number listed on back of card.- Caller: US Bank
- ChrisThat number is in fact a legitimate number. I called it and thought it a little strange at first too, and hung up (was an automated message).
I then called the number on the back of my credit card, which was a different number, and it ended up transferring me to the same location.
I answered the information (speaking to a live person) and they advised the card was used fraudulently, in another state, at around midnight. So we cancelled the card and they'll be issuing a new one...
But the bottom line is the number is legitimate. They apparently handle fraud for a number of banks..- Caller: Fraud Services
- GregGot a message from 800-379-8461. They knew the last 4 digits of my card and said they were from "fraud prevention" and needed to check suspicious purchases on the card. So I checked my statement online and guess what? NO suspicious purchases at all. Every charge listed was legitimate (and most of the charged amounts were less than $30.00). Sounds like a scam to me.

- the dealmaster replies to JakeThis is totally valid. You cannot expect every employee to know every number a business has, especially one as large as USBank. I tried to make a purchase from compusa and kept getting rejected. I got a call from this number and lifted the block and got my purchase accomplished. This number is most certainly not a fraud. I'm glad they are looking out for my best interests by flagging potential problems and letting me know. The only problem I have with this number is my caller id just says "Toll Free Call" instead of US Bank. I never respond to unknown callers but after calling that number from my magic jack (great product, btw) figured out what the deal was.
