- gloria replies to BANK EMPLOYEE| 1 replyI am also an employee of USBank. I called the number on the back of my card and 188 USBANKS and was told this is not a legitamate number. Do not give out personal information unless you initiate the call and you know who you are talking to.
- Renee replies to US BANK| 3 repliesYes, please call your bank they will tell you its a legit number to their Fraud Prevention Dept!!!
- Renee replies to BANK EMPLOYEEYes, please call your bank they will tell you its a legit number to their Fraud Prevention Dept!!!
- TaylorI let this number go to my answering machine. Said it was Fraud Alert from my USBank Flexperks Visa CC, please call back. I didn't call the number they said, I called the number on the back of my card, and was put directly through to Fraud Prevention. Yes, indeed, someone had presented a CC with my name and number on it (another state, Best Buy). USBank blocked the transaction (thank you, USBank Visa!), I cancelled the card, a new one will be sent within 3 days. Always best to call the number on the back of your card.
- Caller: Fraud Alert
- lindasue replies to BANK EMPLOYEEIt is a legit number for a company that some banks use to contact people regarding their account and fraud detection. They just called me and i called the bank to verify. I am with you tho....always call the credit card company directy when you get a call like this.
- d| 2 repliesThis is confusing, half of you say it's legit, the other half it's not...who is right?
- anonymous replies to dIt doesn't matter who is right because you should find out for yourself from known-to-be-good sources whether the number is legit instead of having to choose whom to believe on an anonymous public forum. Beware scammer shills do make fake posts on 800notes so 800notes is *not* a good source to confirm if the number is legit. If you have a US Bank card, call the number on the back of your card (*always* a good number for US Bank) and ask them if 800-379-8461 is a legit US Bank number, and also ask them the legit website for US Bank and you can search the website as well if not on the back of the card.
- An honest personI too got a call from this number asking for account info, in reguards that there was some activity on my card the wasnt approved and the card was blocked, it is a U S Bank card so i called the 800 number on the back of the card and it went through its automated deal. this number is a US Bank number but call the one on the back of the card.
- osiThis is a legitimate number -- if you received a call from it, you should definitely contact your bank to deal with possible fraudulent charges on the account. However, there is no reason to call the number directly, simply use the number on the back of your card.
- tyrion*PLEASE READ*
I've received several calls from these people. Each call leaves a voicemail asking me to return a call to this 800 number. The message indicates that there have been fraudulent charges on my credit card. Upon checking with my bank (US bank) I always find that my card is in good standing. This is absolutely a SCAM and everyone posting that it isn't is a part of the operation. Remember, your credit card number is out there for people to see but it cannot be used without your social,DOB or zip code. The automated message asks you to confirm your zip code as part of "verification". US Bank's employees always ask personal questions to verify identity and will contact via email as well as phone if fraud has occurred. Additionally, banks will suspend your card proactively before contacting you if they suspect fraud. Don't be a fool! IGNORE these scum bags because this is simply a very clever scam. CALL YOUR BANK FIRST!!!! Also, the number that called me was 913-725-6115 from Kansas.- Caller: claimed to be US Bank card member services
- MAYAWhew!! -- I called my bank and they confirmed the call was authentic.
I called the number back and it said they were "Card Prevention Department" stating my account had been locked and would not be able to use it until I clear it by answering certain questions which included the purchases I had just made. -- After answered all the correct questions the msg said it would take 5 minutes for my card to be unlocked. I'm glad I called otherwise my card would have been locked and I would have panic even more. -CALL YOUR BANK FIRST THOUGH. .- Caller: PERSONAL
- Call type: Event reminder
- KathyDThanks to those who commented about this number. I was certain it was a scam, but I called the number on the back of my credit card to check after reading your comments. Sure enough there were questionable charges on my card. Apparently someone got my credit card number and was putting small charges on my card just to test whether the number was real. US Bank put a security block on my card and will issue me a new one. Inconvenient, but better than getting ripped off.
- Caller: Card Security
- Don't believe the HypeThis call was legit! They were calling because of some international charges on the card. You can call the number on the back of the card if you like, but you will end up in the same place.
- Caller: US Bank CC Fraud Dept
- IT IS NOT A SCAM!!The number is NOT a scam..
they do it for security reasons.
They called me because I made a purchase online thus they put a block and I called the number back (I wasn't home when they called).
I just called them, an automated lady repeated my transactions and I had to either day yeah it is legit or nay to being not legit. I said yeah and card block was taken off.
those who say they work for US Bank on here is not true. Any employee would know that is the number for fraud.- Caller: US BANK Credit Fraud Dept
- not a scam. sheesh. replies to Jimummm okay. Riight.
it is NOT A SCAM! Sheesh
stop spreading lies! When you call your credit card company, they ask for the last for dig. of your s.s that is what this is! It is U.S. Bank Fraud Department and it is an automated person you listen to.
I am glad they do this. There are a lot of scams out there. But this one is NOT A SCAM
p.s. most of the employees at the banks don't know every single number. - LegitimateThis guy got it right: "I received this same voicemail and I was worried as well. I didn't call the number they gave me, but did call the number on the back of my card and it truely was a legit call. If your still nervous about it just do the same and call the number on the back of the card."
Just call the number on your card. The number on your card will then direct you to fraud services (which is probably the direct number that I received in my voicemail message). A day or two before this call I made some big purchases on electronics which probably tipped off the US Bank fraud alert system. Also happen to be living away from my billing address home which looks more suspicious.
Anyway, just call the number on your card to be safe, but this number is probably fine. - Savior| 1 replyDo not be a fool, I'm not going to say it's legit or a scam because you shouldn't trust the word of a stranger online. However, I'd highly suggest to make the wiser decision, and call the number on the back of your card instead.
- TXTOMGot a message from this number which did not identify themselves as US Bank, but alas, when we called the number on the back of the card - yes, there were two purchases we had no made - one in PA and the ohter in CA. We live in TX.
- REALLY??? replies to US BANK| 1 reply"Bank Employee"/"US Bank" YOU are a scam. If you were a bank employee you would know that anytime you call into check anything on your account that they will verify they are talking to the correct person before divulging information!!!
- LBthis is LEGITIMATE!! my daughter had her purse stolen last night, the thief was using her US BANK card - the number calling IS the Fraud Prevention number. take this call seriously!!
