- mike| 1 replyThe number is real. I called both the number in question and i also called the number on the back of the card afterwards just to make sure, and got the same lady. A small charge many many states away was fraudulently charged which they caught and denied. Fed exing me a new card on Friday. If anyone says its a scam, they are both [***] for not realizing the number is legit, and [***] for not knowing people can spoof any number. It does not make the number fake, or a phishing scam for everyone. Better to call the number on the back of the card to be safe.
- Caller: citibank fraud dept
- TheRealSeriously replies to mikeKeep in mind that just because it was legit for you doesn't mean that it was legit for someone else. What you did was correct. If you're unsure, call the number on the back of the card. However, you didn't have to name call
- P. SchwinnThis # does belong to City Fraud dept. However, card holders should always call the 800 # on the back of their card to be on the safe side as crooks have become very smart in spoofing #s. Somebody tried to charge $5.00 in San Diego which was declined and which prompted the call from Citi bank. Card is now cancelled and a new one will be issued with new #s. Crooks usually try to charge $1.00 - $5.00 to see if they are successful @ a gas station or Ancestry.com.
- Caller: Citi Bank
- KenI got two calls from this number and it turned out to be Citibank fraud department. I called back and they asked me to confirm case number left on voicemail. They went on to confirm my card might have been compromised outside of citibank at one of the vendors I recently used. Rep explained they would need to issue a new card and to verify address to send card. I asked them to send it to address on file and the rep stated as per protocol they have to verify it. I got a bit suspicious at this and the rep suggested I dial the number on the back of the card and that it would route me back to fraud protection. I hung up the call and logged into my acct # online which showed a fraud alert. I then called the number on the back of my card and it routed me to fraud protection and they confirmed it was a valid call. So in conclusion it was a valid Citibank fraud alert call.

- The Ultimate Oracle replies to Sam| 1 replyDon't have a Citi Card. Got a call from "Citi Fraud Department". I am certain it was a Fraud Department.
- DJThis is an actual Citibank number. Before calling back I checked my account online and there were over $500 in fraudulent charges pending. Called to get them removed and a new card issues.
- Caller: Citibank/Citicards
- CantScamMeThis is a scam. Read these reports and called Citibank. Spent 1 hour with the security department. They do not use this number 800 386 6624. The number they called me on is unlisted and Citibank confirm that it is not even in their database. I tried calling back from a different number so it was not listed in the scammers database. I received a different response than when I called back from the scammed number. So the scammers are monitoring the call backs to see if they have hooked a phish.
I must congratulate them though. This is very convincing- Caller: CitBank

- Irishgirl replies to ScammerAlert| 1 replyclearly if you do not have a credit with the company they are claiming to be calling from, it is a scam. Our situation they asked for my daughter by name- she is the only one with a citibank card, and left detailed instructions for her to contact them about possible fraud. i think scammer can use the number for wrong, but it IS the number for the fraud dept at citibank.
- MarilynThis phone number is a phishing call. They call and leave a message as a fraud early warning call. They left a case number and informed me to call with this number. I called Citi first and they informed me there was no early fraud warning on my account. I then called this number and they were trying to obtain account information, informing me this was the only way they could pull up my information. When I informed them the voicemail stated all I would need is the case number, they denied this and said they needed account information. This is a total fraud card trying to obtain information about your account.
