- Sam| 114 repliesIt it Citibank, calling with a security message.
- Bob| 14 repliesSame thing - I got a call from this number saying my Citi card would be turned off if I didn't call back
Called the number on the back of the card, and it was a true call from citi, I had $30 in unauthorized charges.
Had to go through the process to get a new card issued.- Caller: Citi
- Anon| 12 repliesGot this call claiming it was from citicards. Called not this number but one for citicards and they did confirm that it was a valid citicard telephone number.
I had updated my card's expiration date for some online accounts and the online company to verify the account charged $1 to that account. The $1 will be refunded but it triggered a fraud alert from citicards. - Ski Crazy| 4 repliesYes, this is a Citi number for Fraud Prevention. Actually I got 3 calls from them, and two specified this number, one used another. It is legit.
- Caller: Citi
- Kate Mitchell PallandreI've gotten a call/recorded message twice this evening from this number. Part way through the description of a transaction which was made today (I did not use my card today) the call was disconnected twice. Since I think there is a distinct chance of fraud, I would like to speak with someone live to validate the transaction(s) !
- Caller: Citibank
- Matthew Elvey| 4 repliesWhy would you trust that this is really Citibank?
Why would Citibank ask you to call a phone # that isn't listed on their web site?
Unless you know for certain that this is REALLY Citibank, which you probably don't, don't call this number.
If you do, let us know how we can also verify that this number is really Citibank.
If it is really Citibank, there are some people at Citibank that need to be fired for allowing these messages to go out, asking callers to call a random 800 #. It trains customers to follow bad security practices.- Caller: Possible Fraud
- anonomous| 1 replyJust got a message today to call this number suspecting fraud on my account. I did call the number back and there appeared to be online charges that were not mine. They said they would close the account and reissue another card and number. I then called Citi back at the 888 number listed for lost or stolen cards and they confirmed it was legit and that I did have fraudulent charges and they were sending a new card.
- StnFlwrI don't have a citi card, the robocall is for someone else (wrong phone number). They call every day, and there is no way to tell them they have the wrong number. (Everything is robomated.)
- Caller: Citi card fraud
- Fed UpThey called our phone yesterday afternoon and this morning at 9:10 am. Both times the phone rang twice and then stopped. No way would a legit Citi security call hang up after two rings and before we could even answer. They probably spoofed the 800 number to appear that it is from the actual Citi security department, that way some people will report back here that it is a legitimate call. BE CAREFUL and do not give out any information to these fraudsters. Contact Citi yourself to verify if it is the real deal.
- M. Bezat| 3 repliesGot a call from this number. We were nervous about giving someone info over the phone and asked for a call back number. The person was professional and understanding and told us to call back at 866-517-5347. We confirmed that both numbers were from Citibank's early fraud detection department. It turns out that someone guessed my account number correctly, but got the expiration date wrong. TAKE THIS CALL!
- Caller: Citibank
- JuneTotally a legit # for Citibank's fraud dept. They caught a $150 charge I did not make - just this morning!. You should definitely call them back if you got a call from this #
- Caller: Citibank
- RalphTotally legit Citi Card automated call. They knew about a charge I made today, and were just checking to see if I had made it. Didn't ask for any pin #'s, or socials, so it's really them. Just used my zip code to verify that I was me. But they SHOULD have the # listed on their site to avoid this kind of [***].
- pegtailsThis number is a legitimate citicards phone number. I received a fraud alert email from citicards requesting I call this number. Rather than call this number I called the number on the back of my card. The email with the 800-386-6624 phone number is legit. There were concerns about a fraudulent transaction.
- DebbieI received a call from the 800 number and I ignored it twice, when I looked up the information in this website, I called the number. Then I checked my email with the number I needed to enter. This number is legitamit. I do not blame anyone for having doubts, I did.
- Caller: Citibank Fraud Department
- isth| 1 replythis is citi cards fraud detection number, it's legitimate
- Caller: Citi
- mark_S| 2 repliesI just got a call from this number as well. I called the number ont eh back of my citi credit card, and sure enough there was suspicious activity on the card. They closed the card and are overnighting a new one.
- Caller: Citi
- Jessica| 1 replyI can vouch for this as a legitimate number as well. I had received a voicemail from this number, saying it was the Fraud Early Detection service from Citibank. To be safe, I called the number on the back of my card. Once I had identified myself, they immediately told me my card had been flagged for potentially fraudulent activity, and they were correct. There was a fraudulent charge for over $1000 on my card! They cancelled my account number, and my new card is on the way. Thanks Citibank, and thank you to people posting on forums like this that help us all sift through the truth and the dishonesty!
- Caller: Citibank
- GYup, it's legit. Went online and I got the same warning when I logged into my account.

- Tigger replies to Sam| 15 repliesAre you part of this scam? I called Citibank using the phone number on the back of my card, customer service rep told me this phone number has nothing to do with Citicard.
- Tigger replies to Matthew ElveyAgree!!!
