And the companies that you have a business relationship can call you as often as they want to push new services, even though you tell them you aren't interested. I get calls from Verizon all the time, and I am fully current on my bill. They just call offering more services even though I tell them I'm not interested and don't want calls. They always reply "So what? We can call as often as we wish".

We don't owe anything so why would we pay something?  That's the whole point of this.

The message left sounds like water running in the background,or simple static, but no human voice message is left.  Sometimes there is no message, just a missed call.  These calls are a particular nuisance, since I have a "pay as you go" plan.

The donotcall laws do not cover businesses you already have a relationship with.

If you do not have  relationship - REPORT THEM

YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR PART!   Don't expect the DNC agency to "KNOW" you are receiving unwanted calls YOU have to report them

This number calls our office fax line several times a day.  My boss does not have an account with them.  I usually ignore the call since it's the fax ringing.  How do you make them stop; if no one, but a fax tone, is answering your call should that not be a hint?

I know my boss is not delinquent on any bills, she doesn't even use or accept credit cards.

Some of you guys that are judging others who have posted on this site are unbelievable.  As a matter of fact why are you even on here since you obviously only want to make unknown accusations.  Get a life.

    Pests Woke Me Up
800-395-2274 -- all they do is call first thing in the morning, and keep calling. If they weren't auto-dialing, fine, I'd pick up and tell them to go to hell.
I'm on Don't Call but I guess whatever fines these [***] pay is worth it as they call anyone and everyone hoping to find someone who is behind in a payment and will use them to make it right, or whatever it is they are scamming for.

we all need to contact our Senators and congresspeople.

The issue here is the sale of debt - the sale of debt must be banned!
It was the SALE of mortgage backed assets (debt) is what caused the economic mess we have now.  Banks sold these "assets" as investments!  AS more and more people defaulted on these mortgages - those assets lost 99% of their value - tanking the financial companies worldwide. Which in turn TANKED the rest of the economy and caused millions of lost jobs.

the reason people are being harrassed over debts discharged in bankruptcy or it was the result of identity theft is because the Original Creditors are ALLOWED to sell the debt to collection agencies.  The OC's know that you are not responsible for paying the bill anymore - but they give the collection agencies your contact info when they sell the debt for pennies  and tell them to have it!

    Doubt it's HSBC
After three or four hang-up auto-dialer games from these jerks, I got a zombie on the phone who sounded about 15 years old. Her name was NANCY.

I asked her who was working for. She said it was a confidential business matter. "I'd like to speak to Lynn, is she there," she eventually asked. I said, "Why do you think Lynn would be here? Why should she talk to you?"

NANCY finally gave up the info that she was called from HSBC. I said, "Do they know about this? They authorized you to call here?"

She kept asking to speak to Lynn and I just left her waiting for me to return to the line.

They seem to grab numbers at random, have no idea who they are calling, and are just TOTAL [***]. Take their phones away or shove 'em up their...

Several calls several times a day from 899-395-2274.  Very annoying.  I've tried calling HSBC to stop them but it's torture trying to get through to speak to a person, and taking up my valuable time.  HSBC will lose my very valuable a/c with the if it continues.

They may not be HSBC at ALL
I called HSBC's customer support line: 1-800-975-4722, and the guy said he never heard of this number: 1-800-395-2274, it wasn't in HSBC's list, and it was probably a pfishing game.

Since these a'holes call everybody at random, asking for strange names, it's obvious what they want is to make YOU identify YOURSELF, and give them information they an use to SCREW YOU.

Calling 1-800-395-2274 back, they said "Credit Card Services" in the autommated message, NOT HSBC, and clearly, they expect YOU to leave a message giving ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION to them, to clear up the wrongful calls you are getting.

The one time I got a real live monkey on the line, she kept asking for a person who doesn't live here, would NOT state her business, kept persisting on saying "it's private," and finally identified herself as with HSBC...which I seriously doubt. They may just be picking on one of the biggest banks that will have too much to do besides hunt them down.

I told the HSBC rep to take down that number and get their lawyers after them, as they are giving HSBC a black eye with all these crank calls.

The do not calls only work when YOU the person receiving the unwanted calls actually reports them.

You cannot expect them to KNOW you are receiving these calls until YOU REPORT THEM.

yes the list works - when you do part to report those who violate it.

Report a phone call from 800-395-2274:

The company that called you.
