I don't care if you don't pay your bill, as long as you know every action brings a reaction, and I hope your concious accept that you are causing someone to lose their job, lose money in their 401k, what if it was your parents or grandparents losing their 401k.  Remember, the banks will not lose, they just pass the buck to you, me the consumer.  You're hurting other people.

Wow, I am quite surprised after reading these postings.  I got a call last week from CCB for a person with my name.  The person CCB was trying to collect from had a delinquent Wells Fargo account of some kind.  I was mowing the lawn and CCB left a message on my answering machine.  I called the number back (1-800-473-7885 ext. 3484) and was asking questions about the company.  The message left on my answering machine sounded very unprofessional...someone in the background yelling "focus people".  "Kim" would not give me any information about the company and I was suspicious.  I called back again a little later and "Kim" answered the phone.  She must have had caller ID because she knew it was me calling.  She asked for the last two of my social security number.  I hesitated, but silly me gave it to her.  It didn't match the person she was after so she didn't pursue it.  I was ready to call the attorney general thinking it was an identity scam until I googled the number and read all these postings.  Crazy!

A loan is a type of debt. Like all debt instruments, a loan entails the redistribution of financial assets over time, between the lender and the borrower.

In a loan, the borrower initially receives or borrows an amount of money, called the principal, from the lender, and is obligated to pay back or repay an equal amount of money to the lender at a later time. Typically, the money is paid back in regular installments, or partial repayments; in an annuity, each installment is the same amount. The loan is generally provided at a cost, referred to as interest on the debt, which provides an incentive for the lender to engage in the loan. In a legal loan, each of these obligations and restrictions is enforced by contract, which can also place the borrower under additional restrictions known as loan covenants. Although this article focuses on monetary loans, in practice any material object might be lent.

If you borrow money, pay it back. These companies are only asking for what you agreed to. It's funny how people get mad and lash out at collectors because of their own personal issues. The only reason your in the position your in is because of you. You borrowed money. You agreed to specific terms in the contract. You stopped paying. They ask for payment and you get mad. Amazing! Stand up, stop making excuses and do what you know your supposed to. If you truly are in a financial hardship, file bankruptcy, ask for help, stop getting loans that you can't afford. Do something.

    Pay your Bills
Honestly,,, Ok I read through these and I must say if someone is telling you why they are calling you without FIRST making sure you are the right party then I am sure that is wrong, you need to talk to Manager. 2... If you owned a car and it was repoed then you know you do ow the balance of the loan. Figure out a way to pay it. Because let me tell you,, times are hard and instead of sitting here beating up us for calling you? Beat your self up for creating the bill that we are calling you about. And we don't "pick" up these acc's they are still owned by the orig. co. Its just they can't collect so they send them to a co. That CAN & WILL collect.
You owe the bill, You created the bill. Noone to blame but yourselves. If there was a debtors prison you all would be in it. Because not only do you have calls on auto loans, but credit cards, med. bills, and other lines of credit...
You guys created this overload of extended credit, without the possibility of repayment,, because you thought at that moment, all was well.... You didn't think about the moment you would be out of a job. Which you should have......... and all of you had the chance to get out of this.. When you signed the DOtted line you had 3 days and you could have bought the ins. to pay for it when your [***] couldn't

My moher keeps getting calls from these Jerks . The thing is, the person they are asking for we have never heard of . On top of that, m mother has had the same phone number for over 40 years . They have the wrong number & have been informed of this several times .

In our situation we do no owe them anything, nor have we ever . If you owe them, or you owed a business that they represent or have bought a debt from, then pay it . If the debt is over 7 years old, DO NOT TALK TO THEM . The Statute of Limitaions is up ( even sooner in some States ) . If you talk to them, then the Statute can be extended . They know this, that is why they keep trying to get you into talking with them .

when they call, tell them not to call you ever again & ask for an address to send them notice via registered mail . Ater you hang up, call the police & make a report about threatening & harassing calls . If they call back, call the police & show them your previous report . The police will now get involved as well as other State Agencies that handle these matters . Since they are doing this across State Lines, it is also a Federal Matter . There are remedies that can be taken for the actions these jerks are doing .

Oh btw, don't be fooled for  moment that you have to hang up your phone when their computer calls & tells you that if you are not ( the person they are calling ) then you must hang up . Stay on the phone . If they ( or their computer ) mentions someone's name & it is not yours & that they are collecting a debt, then they are now liable for a $1,000.00 fine as well as any other Civil Liability that applies or that a Court / Jury renders .

"we aren't just collecting bills, we are harrasing people for minimum wage".

Be a realist. The amount of money your collection agency spends hounding people over their debt, is astronomical compared to the amount you actually squeeze out of them.

Why do you keep calling people who don't owe you anything just because you can't get it through your thick skulls that you've reached the WRONG number?

You're not well educated are you? I bet you dropped out of school in the 6th grade.

    Dumbass.

LOL,,, what is truley sad, is that your right, you don't have to pay.. There is no debtors prison. But as far as credit goes, you will never be able to get a loan, you will never be able to buy a house, you will never know the NEW car smell, you will never get a credit card, and you will never get a decent job. Cause you know what?????? It all takes good credit. And when you don't pay, you don't get things that you want. So you will forever be thinking and living with the stress that comes with the wolves knocking on your door. Its all on you..... Aren't you soooo proud of yourself. ^5   And just think, your teaching your children how to be the same way..... Haaa haaa haaa haaa. Have a great day!!! oh,,,and Collections will continue.

Oh jees... you know its very simple, we leave a msg. If its not you, or you don't know the person, call us and tell us wrong number. Its very simple. Stop crying like immature babies, stop griping about the fact your in collections. You knew it was coming when you didn't pay your bill.
I am so tired of pathetic losers who create bills and don't pay because they don't have to. Did you know,, with this new President he could decide to instead of bailing out the companies, pass a new law, and create the debtor's prison..
Then you all will be scrambling to pay your debts. Like little mice running for the cheese. Prison would change all of your habits. LOL!!!!

    M.A.
    Just so you all know.

    Collection Agency rules:

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act was passed in 1977 to protect consumers from abusive debt collectors. Here are rules a third-party debt collector must follow when collecting a debt.

Contacting a debtor. A collector may contact you in person, by mail, telephone, telegram or fax. However, a debt collector may not contact you at inconvenient times or places, such as before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m., unless you agree. A debt collector also may not contact you at work if the collector knows that your employer disapproves of such contacts.

Contacting a third party about your debt. If you have an attorney, the debt collector must contact the attorney rather than you. If you don't have an attorney, a collector may contact other people but only to find out where you live, what your phone number is and where you work. Collectors usually are prohibited from contacting such third parties more than once. In most cases the collector may not tell anyone other than you and your attorney that you owe money. They can call 7 days a week.

Giving written notice. Within five days after you are first contacted, the collector must send you a written notice telling you the amount of money you owe, the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money and what action to take if you believe you do not owe the money.

When a consumer doesn't owe the money. A collector may not contact you if within 30 days after you receive the written notice you send the collection agency a letter stating you do not owe money. However, a collector can renew collection activities if you are sent proof of the debt, such as a copy of a bill for the amount owed.

No harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress or abuse you or any third party they contact.

    Debt collectors may not:
    Threaten violence or harm.
    Use obscene or profane language.
Repeatedly use the telephone to annoy someone.
    No lying.
Use any false or misleading statements when collecting a debt.
Falsely imply that they are attorneys or government representatives.
Falsely imply that you have committed a crime.
Falsely represent they operate or work for a credit bureau.
Misrepresent the amount of your debt.
Give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit bureau.
Send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency when it is not.
    Use a false name.

Debt collectors may not state that:
You will be arrested if you do not pay your debt.
They will seize, garnish, attach or sell your property or wages unless the collection agency or creditor intends to do so and it is legal to do so.
Actions, such as a lawsuit, will be taken against you when such action legally may not be taken or when they do not intend to take such action.

No unfair practices. A debt collector may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt from you.

    Debt collectors may not:
Collect any amount greater than your debt, unless your state law permits such a charge.
    Deposit a postdated check prematurely.
Use deception to make you accept collect calls or pay for telegrams.
Take or threaten to take your property unless this can be done legally.

    Jack replies to Yikes!
Just received my first from CCB today.  They called for someone else..said if I wasn't the person not to listen..WHAT??  My phone isn't it?  Anyway after listening I decided to call.  The lady was a class act Jerk.  Talked to her twice.  She hung up on me the first and second time.  I called back and talked to two different ladies that both hung up on me and then finally talked to a guy who gave me time.  I was trying to get him to tell me the company he was with.  He said it was on the recording...went back and listended carefully and it was!!!  CCB Collection Service OR something close to that.  My problem is the person they are trying to collect from does NOT live here and hasn't for 6 years.  It'll be interesting to see how soon they call again and how often?

Got a call today on my cell phone from Chris Newton at this CCB.  Feel free to call him back at 800-473-7885 x3505.  He was a total ass to me. I know I owe on a car that I voluntarily surrendered back in 2008, but they refuse to work with me on a payment plan.  My loan was through Nuvell Credit, which is a division of GMAC.

If you dickspitters would work with me on payments and not just call and demand the full $6000 I owe, I'd start to pay.  But apparently you morons don't realize that if I had $6000, I wouldn't have had to surrender the vehicle.  DUH.
