this is not about legitimate debt -ITS JUNK DEBT - NOT VALID AT ALL

these debts were charged off by the original creditor years ago and have been sold over and over again.

This is not valid debt - it's worthless legally uncollectable debt that has been sold over and over again to junk debt buyers.

Most likely already paid or discharged in bankruptcy or result of identity theft - but junk debt buyers take your money and resell the debt

Credit is a farse.... replies to M.A
There is no debtor prison, however there is credit imprisonment. I recently found that having credit is another way to imprison yourself to some arbitrary number. Look at what credit has done to this nation sitting on a >$1.4 trillion dollar deficit. I will never know the new car smell, because new cars are one of the worst investments people can make. I will never own a home because they also are bad investments unless you can pay cash. Credit cards are traps as well as personal loans. As far as a decent job? I make well above what most people make and have horrible credit (<500 credit score). I live comfortably now that I have ditched my credit cards and my house. My apartment pays my water, paints the exterior, mows my grass, picks up my trash, and performs interior repairs. All this on my behalf and for less than my previous house payment. I change my number and block out everyone I don't know, harassment solved. Let the collectors sell off the credit several times for pennies on the dollar and after four or five times, consider settling for those pennies. A $10000 debt just turned into <$200. Take your money and invest it in yourself and savings.

    ???? replies to simple
The world's most successful corporations back out of contracts that are written.  This happens on a daily basis, yet they keep making money.  My family is a business and I provide services for an income for my business. If I enter into a contract and I feel that the contract is no longer beneficial to my business, I will walk away from that contract.  Fortunately, most consumer debt contracts do not provide a back out policy which protects the grantor from such cases. This is why collection agencies are in business.

I too had a loan thru Nuvell/GMAC aka National------ I spoke with several representatives  since March 2009, advising them that i am now currently unemployed and asked for there help...  Yes i know we signed a contract, but creditors do try to help --- well they dont--- they told me if i make 2 full payments (april and May) they would work with me and put June and July payments to the back of my loan. To help us out.   Well June came I called and they told me that i wasnt eligible... so I made a payment that of $200. (actual paymt due $255.39) that was all i had. by my fault only since i didnt have any money i didnt pay july and august.  In septemeber I received a call from several representatives and they told me that I was 110 days late.  they explained that I didnt make a payment in june.. Told them i did, they said it was a full payment so it doesnt count... I explained all I have is 500.  Well they told me that i need to make that by 5pm... told them i will not access until friday becuase that is when my unemployment comes in.   I told them I can pay the $55.39 that day  and additional $255.39 on friday when i get my check.  they told me they need it paid by 5pm that day and it had to be $500.   Told then that is not possible. I hung because I was so upset that they wouldnt work with me until friday.... Well I made a payment of $400 and cal Then i called back spoke with 2 nice ladies at gmc and they told me they would help....  they went to the supervisor and they said the only way i could keep my truck was to make monthly payment arrangements with the CCB and when I called them --(they didnt contact me) to make arrangesments (no this is exactly 7 days from when it was turned over to them) I was told by Dominic that i signed a contract and it says that i agreed to make payment as written... I said yes but when i have contacted the company explain what is going that i was unemployed.. and i need help ---you would think they would try to work with you... he said either i make the full amount owed or they will be there tonight since they have a driver there in my county to come pick up the truck... I said i was told you are to make monthly payments and so i can keep my truck. He told me what ever verbal agreements i have with GMAC is null and void your with us now...So i hung up and called spoke with GMAC supervisor and She said that only GMAC can come and REPO my truck not the collection agency and that is a scare tacted that they used and she was contacting there supervisor... she gave me a supervisor name over at the collection agency and he too said that he will come get the truck unles i pay the amount owed on the truck --- i explained what i was told --- he said you refused to pay your truck payment and that is why your here so you have a choice pay the full amount or we come tonight and get the truck.  Then he offered me a settlement amount and told me i have 24hrs to make that decision whether i pay it or they come and get the truck.

So I called GMAC again, Spoke with Yolanda and she said no they will not come and get the truck we only will--- and i will call them and tell them they are to make monthly payment arrangements.  I think its great that CCB is threatening me that they are coming to take the truck and they are not authorized to do that.

Plus all the comments i see from them to everyone elses posts.  Let me just let you all know,  Remember I contacted you not the other way around and if i was refusing to pay do you really think i would be calling you to make arrangements or calling GMAC --- You people need to start listening and stop being so cold harded..  YOU WORK FOR GMACA and they have the last say on accounts... Dont give me the bull [***] that there is nothing you can do and threaten me that you will be at my house taking my truck....especially if i am calling you to make payment arrangements... i am doing your job for you..... and you need train your people better... if you have noticed the economy is in the [***]....

OH BY THE WAY,   DONT YOU EVER EVER TELL US TO GO BORROW MONEY FROM OUR  FAMILY OR FRIENDS. IF SOMEONE  TELLS  THAT THEY DONT HAVE IT, DONT YOU THINK THEY MAY HAVE EXAUSTED THEIR RESOURCES.... IF YOU HAVENT NOTICED THERE ARE THOUSOUNDS OF PEOPLE UNEMPLOYED AND ITS HARD ENOUGH TO KEEP A ROOF AND FOOD ON THE TABLE FOR THEIR FAMILYS THEN TO HAVE A RELATIVE OR FRIEND ASK TO BORROW FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS...

Remember to thank GOD that you have a job and how many people are with out  like me!!!!!  I would love to have a job so i wouldnt be in this situation.....

Recieved call, lady said name Kelly but cannot by law give me her company name.  She was combative and defensive right away. Her secretive manner put me on the defensive as she was clearly hiding something.  I believe she was a scammer.  Some on this site have identified the phone number as a collection agency but I can't be sure as she wouldn't say. Caller ID said was XPS Services 503-937-0982 but she wants me to call her back at 800-473-7885 x 3497.  Others beware.  Something suspicious going on.

you are going to stop replies to hahahahaha
You are going to stop, and all of the lower life forms that do what you do, are going to stop as well. You have no idea, because you are clueless, but you ARE going to stop. How do I know this, because I am the one who is going to see to it that you stop, or rather, that you are stopped. I don't owe you a thing, so call me, harass me, I want you to.  And let's see just how good you really are at your "profession". FIND ME, find out who I am, and call me, I will talk to you. You know what is really pathetic, is that you claim to be professionals, but you eat lunch at McDonalds every day.

    You ARE going to stop.

you are going to stop replies to MLJ
You are right about one thing, every action brings a reaction. YOU, need to keep telling yourself that.

If you had half of a brain, then you would know that you are not doing ANY good. You are NOT the great savior that is going to put the American Economy back on top. Consumer debt is NOT what has this country in a mess. Consumer debt is NOT what is costing ppl their jobs, or ravaging their 401k.

You are going to stop. You and everyone who does what you do, you are going to stop. Enjoy it while you can. You are clueless and pathetic.

    yet another bill collector
So here i am going to set the record straight.....First of all no bill collector in america makes minimum wage.  i for one have 2 cars paid for, a home that is not in forclosue.  i have a child that attends school without the help of public aide.  i made over 60k last year.  i also pay my bills.  i do not have accounts in collections.  i am also a single mother.  i can bet my next paycheck that 90 percent of the under educated people posting so called complaints can say the same.  on another point, why does the american public think that they shouldn't have to pay something they signed a contract for. and for the people we call with a wrong number, unless you tell us it is a wrong number, we do not know.  we are bill collectors not psycics.

My son turned his Nissan in because he could no longer make payments, my mom co-signed. We got a call from CCB saying that my mom has to pay 10,000 for this truck. They auctioned it off, but wouldnt provide any more information. Im not sure about the laws on this which I am going to look up, if he still had the truck and not making payments wouldnt this be worse? I had to get the name of the company out of the guy who called and it took me 4 times asking him their name, know arent they suppose to identify themselves? My mom said the first lady if this is what u want to call her was very rude, my mom is 80 years old and I have a problem with people who talk this way especially to the elderly.

Talking to these people is like driving a nail through your hand. They have no cognative reasoning skills and just try to out yell you instead of listening. .  Threatening old ladies and calling them 'deadbeats' when it's not even their account is classy. Good thing they like to remind you they're federally regulated.

    RUDE!
RUDE RUDE RUDE! Is all I can really say.  I work for a company who is in debt.  I received a call from this number this morning and the lady, Janice, was beyond rude.  I speak to collectors all day and try to work out payment plans with all of them.  We also make settlement offers and work with many people.  I have never heard someone be so rude until this morning.  After reading this posting with what everyone had to say, especially the employees that work for CCB, I know I will not be working with this company anytime soon.  If I worked for CCB or I would be embarrassed by this posting.  These employees are rediculous!  I am so disguisted by the way they are representing themselves.  Yes, we owe the debt, which most of the people on this post probably do, but acting like an a$$hole is not going to get you paid.  Obviously the debtor made mistakes, or they would never have gotten to this point, but how dare someone be so disrespectful.  This collection agency seems to be full of scum!

This guy called earlier today and wasn't making any sense, the call was for my mom and he left a message, repeated her name over & over plus he said if this isn't her listening or something to that fact to not listen to the message. Said he had personal information, I think this is what he said.
