- anonymousi have no idea who is calling - everyday! they dont leave a message but keep calling.
- veeThis is a automated recording that asked for a person in the household with no reference to the organization on the caller id. I do not respond to these calls because they can write a letter instead of calling. There are so many scans out that I do not give out any information.
- WallyThey also send text Pictures to. just got one phone can't access it
- dibbsI got a call today from this number. the woman was very offended that I would not give her my soc# I explained that I do not give out personal info to unknown numbers and she would need to state her business with me. She hung up.

- slynnThey call my home phone multiple times a day. It does not have a vm set up on it. I don't give out this number, I use my cell number for everything. Since I got this home phone, I got telemarketers calling 12-20 times a day. how ridiculous? Signed up for the DNC list, down to about 5 or 5 a day. anyways, Caller ID comes up LJ Ross.
- Michael replies to Aaron| 4 repliesDon't be a scumbag, don't lie and say the person who is being billed recently passed away, just pay your bills like you were supposed to. If you can't afford to pay bills, don't take on responsibilities in the first place.
- MaggieI've received numerous calls from this number; I never answer it so I now just blocked the number. It's very annoying; I get these telemarketers calling all the time and I'm on the do not call list.
- Phil| 1 replyOkay people here's the deal. This is a medical debt collection agency based in Jackson, MI but that services the entire U.S. Typically what happens is this:
1) You receive medical treatment.
2) The provider submits the bill to your insurance company
3) The insurance company pays the allowed amount (but often the treatment provider hasn't coded the bill properly and all or part of it gets rejected.)
4) Assuming the bill has been correctly coded there is usually either a deductable (the amount that you must pay out of pocket before your insurance kicks in) for example if you have a $500 deductible you have to pay $500 (usually in a year) before the insurance pays anything, or a co-pay (something like a 80:20 split of the fee between you and your insurance provider) So for instance if you're prescription costs a total of $100 you would have to pay $20 and your insurance company picks up the other $80.
5) Healthcare providers typically don't have a clue how much out of pocket you will have to pay until they submit it to the insurance carrier, so they may tell you that you are "all set" leaving you thinking that you are all paid up and covered when you aren't.
6) You receive a bill (somewhere 60-90 later) that says you owe $x amount.
7) You call your insurance company and probably get the run around, but often it's them telling you something you don't want to hear, like "you have $1500 deductable so you owe $984.00"
8) By this time you will have received several letters from the medical provider (maybe not, some are horrible about this)
9) The medical company sells the bill (usually for pennies on the dollar).
10) The lowest form of subhuman calls you and demands payment. Because they work on commission they will try every form of coercion to get you to pay, and will often cross ethical and legal lines.
11) If you pay you're credit score will be adversely affected as the debt will be listed as "paid in collection" but if you don't pay the obnoxious calls and threatening letters will continue until the debt collector will write off the debt and you will have an even bigger blot on your credit score. And don't listen to the half-wits who are telling you that it is illegal to gig your credit score for this, they are balls out wrong.
Now you are probably thinking, but I don't owe anything and you may be correct. Medical Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes out there and someone may be going to the doctor's under your name, using your identity. In other cases, it is just a screw up between the medical provider and the insurance company.
Some of you are also thinking, they are looking for someone else, they have the wrong number. Maybe, but far more likely is some low life scam artist gave their real name and YOUR phone number. The calls will continue until you explain the jackals at the collection agency (that are one bad fall away from roasting in hell) that someone is fraudlently using your phone number. These aren't bright people---for years Adam and Cindy Hernandez have been using my phone number fraudulently and when I explained this to one of the sub-simian goofballs that called to collect he asked if I knew how to get a hold of them.
So your best bet is to pay the money whether you owe it or not (and sue the medical provider if they turned over a debt to collection in error) or call them back and tell them that someone is using your phone number fraudulently if that is truly the case; it will probably take three or four phone calls before the idiots get the message, but at that point I encourage you to tell the bottom-feeders who can't hold a job taking the trash out at a fast food restaurant exactly what you think of them and their chosen profession.
If you do decide to pay, know your rights and be smart about it. First, ask them what they are prepared to take as payment in full. Time is money and every time they have to call costs them a little more to collect the debt; since they bought the debt for pennies on the dollar they may be inclined to settle for substantially less than what they initially ask you for. And remember, federal law prohibits them from refusing a "reasonable payment plan offer" (at least it used to, I'm not a lawyer so you may want to check) typically this is a monthly payment plan of at least 10% of the principle.
Take detailed notes during your conversation with these sleazebags (ideally you should record the conversation, but you will have to disclose this and have them verbally acknowledge that they understand you are recording the call) If they threaten you, tell you that they won't accept a payment plan, or try any sleazy illegal tactic they will face serious Federal repercussions.
And be sure to thank in a big and personal way, the medical provider who turned your bill over to collection.- Caller: JD Roth

- nara replies to lanawho the hell are you to leave a message like this! People are living pay check to pay and just getting by. Go chase another ambulance.
- Elizabeth replies to ChrisI have never been anywhere near Michigan in my life.
- reside in MichiganIt is a collection agency for Medical Bills. I receive calls from them due to U of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
- kayI get several calls a day form this number and they never leave a message, I have paid every bill that has come in the mail for what I was seen for ...if they wanted to talk to me then maybe they should leave a freaking Voicemail instead of hanging up .. sorry I can NOT answer my cell at work and they only call 8-5.. when I am working .... or how's about if I owe money send me a letter like any other collections agency !
- Sherie replies to JUDIJudi, this is TWICE now that you've asked if anybody knows what kind of company this is - while there is PAGE AFTER PAGE of posts clearly stating that they're a DEBT COLLECTION COMPANY!! Good god, can't you READ??
- Tammi replies to PITA| 4 repliesThere is no need to be nasty. It is not a piece of [***] company or a scam. It is LJ Ross and Associates. They legitimately are trying to reconcile medical debt. If the person calling is asking for someone you don't know or had your number previously, you will get further by conveying this information to the person on the phone rather than playing games.
- DebbieWe receive a call daily at work from this number - it comes in as Tolle Free Calle - when phone is answered - no one replies.
- mamabear replies to memegosh..I know collection agencies can be mean.. Funny how when insurance pays on their time schedule everything
is great..But the public can't seem to get the same benefit..Insurance companies get part wrote off regardless of how
long they take to pay.. - Jake ArrCaller ID just says Toll Free Call for caller info. I did not get a ring (call blocker) but check the call list occasionally.
Michael and Tammi are sock puppets for LJ Ross, pretty obvious after reading them. I have all 800, 856, 866, 877, 888 toll free numbers blocked on my call blocker (CallClerk software on a computer hooked to the phone line). Area 202 robocall numbers get blocked (I do have some 202 numbers whitelisted). Other numbers join the blacklist on a case by case basis. Anyone soliciting money gets blocked. I have had bill collectors call my number asking for persons (Ray, Keith, Josh) who do not live at my residence... repeatedly even though I have informed them that they person being sought does not live here. So they are blocked. I am debt free (no mortgage, car payment or credit cards). Living off my pension and Social Security.- Caller: LJ Ross

- AB| 2 repliesI post on here often and have been a victim of many scam callers to both my cell phone and my land line. In this case, however, this is a legitimate bill collector in Ann Arbor, Michigan and in Jackson, Michigan. This company handles collections from health providers and, possibly, other companies, but, they mostly handle health providers. I have a rule to never pay collection companies unless they mail me a specific bill with the original billet and dates of service. This is required and must be provided and sent by US Mail within seven days of being requested. I then contact the original billet and pay them directly because I want them to receive the money for services provided. Sometimes I miss a bill because I am waiting for our insurance companies to pay them and the insurance company does not always pay them all that is charged due to co-pays and to deductibles. When I do pay the original billet, I ask them to contact the collection company to inform them the bill has been paid in full and I ask for a receipt to be mailed to me to have in case there are any questions later. People do make mistakes and I just keep a file for medical bills for this reason. This is not a scam company. I have reported on many scammers here on this site but this one is not. I do not know why they do not leave a message, however, this is maddening, to say the least, and is my one complaint of this company. I also do not receive any bill from them in the mail unless I request it, which is also a complaint that I have. (So, I guess I have two complaints about this company...)

- AB replies to ABA correction: I do not know why every time I wrote "biller" it was autocorrected to billet. Sorry for the confusion. Wherever it says billet in my post above, it should read "biller".
