- Cindy replies to anonymous| 1 replyYou're an idiot, it is, in fact, a valid # for Wells Fargo, if anyone is a scammer it is YOU
- BeWareI received a call from this number saying they were WF and I refused to give them info or confirm who I was and they hung up. I called the regular WF number and they said there is only two reasons why anyone from WF would call me. One, if there was a block on my account and two, if there was fraudulent activity. The rep at WF confirmed that they would have a record of either cases if I had any such activity on my account and confirmed they did not try to contact me. Please BeWare!

I recieved a call from 800-548-9554 and the caller ID said Wellsfargo. Is this a legitimate number for you?
Thank you,
- Caller: wellsfargo
- Monica replies to anonymousI just called Wells Fargo and they gave me this number for fraud claims. So I don't know what you're talking about.
- anonymousSeems to be a lot of misinformation here. Though you shouldn't believe me, or anyone else on this thread exclusively, I will say that I'm currently disputing charges to my WF card, and have just gotten off of the phone with one of their reps, who I reached by calling 800-TO-WELLS, the number on the back of my card. I've been ignoring calls from an unrelated 800 number, and wished to verify it with WF. I was told that number was not legitimate, and I was was given the number which is the subject of this thread (800-548-9554) as the legitimate number that the claims department would use to call me if they needed to. So, it would seem this is in fact a WF number.
However...
If you are at all wary of a number, don't give them anything. Insist on calling them back at a number you can verify, either on the back of your card or from a legitimate website. Better yet, never give anything to anyone who calls you. Make it a policy to only give out that sort of information when -you call them- on a number you are absolutely sure of.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- Bob replies to Not part of the schemeIT'S A SCAM!!!
I'm assuming that since you provided a link to a site to confirm a number when the link doesn't actually confirm the number, you're figuring people will just see that you've posted the link and not bother clicking it on the assumption that no one would put up a link if it weren't legitimate. There's no way to confirm the number at the link you provided so that's a pretty big red flag.
Haven't tried calling WF Customer Service but assume I'd find the same thing. - Bob replies to Not part of the schemeBy the way, I did dig a little deeper and the fraud department's number isn't the one on the email. It's actually 1-800-869-3557. Do a reverse lookup on that number. Don't trust these people who say it he email number is legit. Or if you think they're true when you read all these posts saying it's legit, at least call the number I just posted. When they pick up, don't give them any information other than you name and contact phone. Not even the last four digits of your cc. simply ask them to tell you the most recent purchase they show on your statement. When it's legitimately Wells Fargo, they'll be able to do that.
- Employee replies to Me| 1 replyThis is a legitimate # for WF it is for the claims department I should know I work here! People are so paranoid these days Geez!
- DM1 replies to EmployeeAnd you're a shill responding to a post that's over 2 years old!
- july pI when to the bank in the clerk give me this number 1800-548-9554 to report my card
- MichaelI got this number in an email confirmation for a fraud report, just called it and got my fraud refunded to my account, so this number surely belongs to WF.
What of course can happen these days is that a high-tech scammer is pretending to be this number. This is also happening with phone numbers from the state department black-mailing foreign students to make payments to avoid deportation. So I would not be surprised if bank scammers use this tech in this case also.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- JennCThis is Wells Fargo's fraud department number. It is legit. I've had to deal with them several times and this is their number directly to the fraud department.

- LasennaI know this thread is old, but I got an email about an investigation about a claim. It was referencing an incident that occurred a couple months ago. The fraudulent charges were stopped the same day, I was issued a new debit card, and I was refunded the money within a week, but they didn't settle the investigation until now. I didn't trust the email (since it had been so long), so I called the number for Wells Fargo (1-800-TO-WELLS) on the back of my new debit card. I asked the representative about the number in the email (1-800-548-9554) and she checked and said it IS a valid Wells Fargo number and she could transfer me to it (which she did).
I suspect that people who are "getting" calls from the number should be suspicious. Do NOT give out information. It's very easy to spoof a phone number so that your caller ID says the call is from a certain number even when it's from an entirely different one. Likely scammers learned of this not well known number and are using that to lend credibility to their calls. Only trust this number after 1) verifying with Wells Fargo directly and if you call them yourselves. 2) do not give out information to this number if you are the one receiving a call from them.
