- NJKatwomanI've had three calls today...I *69'd the last one, and it was 800-609-5666. No-one spoke, and furious, I yelled into the phone "You people had better stop harassing me...I'm on the do not call list"!!! Just because I didn't pay extra for an unlisted phone number, I get junk calls every day!
- Caller: don't know
- JessieThey also keep calling me and there is another number also that keeps calling me that is the same scenerio...Getting really tired of this. How can I make it stop. They are calling my cell and it isnt even in my name!
- BananaI just got my a phone call from this number today and I didn't answer. They left a weird message with music and muffled voices in the background. I hope they don't keep calling over and over.
- The Red BaronFunny, they call, leave a voice mail, "Call Ms. Jones at...." All I can think of is that old song, "Me and Mrs. Mrs. Jones" no message beyond call me....hilarious. Nobody in any real business environment does that, plus the caller sounded extremely pushy and rude even when leaving a voice mail...yeah, sure, I'll call, just hold your breath a few more minutes...
- Caller: Ms Jones
- tickled at the ignoranceI got a message on my phone from this number saying "we tried to reach you by phone but were unsuccessful". Oh really, so what was that thing you left a message on, seriously, I know i might owe some money, but until you can do the following, I will not acknowledge your calls. 1. Have some one with a little intelligence listen to the automated message you leave on a phone. 2. Tell me who you are, and what company you represent and 3. Have a live person make the call who can listen to my outgoing message. Best of luck in reach me or anyone for that matter. I use to work collections I know the game and that is why I left. I was never the playground bully and have no plans to be!

- Sam| 19 repliesWell it is a debt collection agency, so if you just talk to them, and pay your dept they will leave you alone. Simple.
Unless they are calling the wrong number, then just call them back on the same number, you will be transferred to an operator who will take care of that for you!
And the reason why real people can't call you is because there is so much debt out there, and money people owe, that they can't find enough people to collect the all that dept, so they have to use computers.
Just pay your debt, and stop complaining. That is life! - cklooking for the wrong people
- Izze replies to Sam| 2 repliessam how rude..if the folks had the money they would pay it if they owed it. last time i checked, we are in a recession. your job could be deleted tomorrow, then how you gonna pay your bills. people are lied to by credit card abancies on fixed rated and they charge other rates should not be able to collect one penny, especially when they tell you for your benefit the phine call is recorded and when you need it to back yourself up, it was a lie and not recorded.not all people set up to end up with bad credit, but when they rely on the creditor to keep their word they end up with bad credit, because they trusted a company that was doing and giving false information. I know of people who has this happen to them and they have had perfect credit for 30 years and a careless employer of a credit company lies to them and mess their entire life up..
- carlaThis is a new cell number for me and they keep calling me. Have told them I don't know the person they are calling but does not good.

- AlfalfaUnder the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.
Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.
This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc. NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls. In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc. Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.
David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors. Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call. Judge Davis wrote;
[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.
Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.
So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?
1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

The message was for someone else (this person must have had my phone number before because it is not the only call I have received for them). I called back and spoke to a Mr. Noble. He was very helpful, took my number out of their system. Hopefully it will work.
