    Tyrell S.
They are calling my young son to collect a debt that he owes.

It turned out that his doctor's office, Children's Medical Center in Greenville and Simpsonville, SC, uses this collection agency. I contacted the doctor office directly. They show that all of our bills are paid. Their collection agency keeps calling us.

these people keep calling my mom and she doesnt owe anyone any money, and they have really nasty attitudes, they wouldnt tell me the name of the company, firstpoint, until i kept calling harassing them. then i still couldnt get a straight answer about what they did at the company. so i looked online and it came to this site. is there anything that can be done to these people. i mean there should be some sort of recourse for people who are being harrasses by these kinda people

They are probably looking for the deadbeat who had the number before you got it.  Or someone took out a loan and lied about their number - they gave yours instead of their own.

Put this number in your contacts list and assign them the ring tone "no ring".  It won't stop the calls but it will keep the phone from vibrating while you are in class.

Like I told Michael above - the are probably looking for some deadbeat who lied on a loan form.  They gave a false phone number on a loan application, got the loan, and stopped making payments.

If they are calling a cell phone assign the number the ring tone "no ring".  If they are calling a land line ask your mom's phone company if it is possible to block the number.

And, in case anybody is wondering - my name has nothing to do with the Michael I'm replying to.

My user name is a reference to all the wrong number calls I was getting for Michael - a different Michael.  I learned here that the calls were from an auto finance company.   My Michael is a deadbeat who gave a false phone number on a loan application then stopped making payments on the loan.

Automated message for me to call them.  I don't call people I don't know.  Finally called back a week or so ago and they can't find me in their system.  They need more identifying info, like a social security number.  I THINK NOT!

I called them today, to explain the debt I had for $9.65 was actually a co-pay that I was not responsible for and that the claim was resubmitted and the insurance company was going to pay them in full, I spoke to "Ms Farmer" who was clearly a young black woman who harassed me, basically making fun of me for not wanting to pay the cost. I explained its not about how little the cost is, it is the principle that I am not responsible for it.  She than said that it would take almost $5 to fax over the dispute and reprocess it to clear it up and I was ridiculous for just not paying it.  She began to get a little "ghetto-intelligent" on me and then hung up on me.. lol.  I called and asked to speak to a manager, and was transfered to a voice mail where I left a lengthy message, explaining the poor "customer service".  Then I called back again! I called and they transfered be back to "Ms Farmer" whom I told I didn't appreciated her attitude, and attempted to explain the situation so that she could annotate the account properly.  The interuppted me saying "this is my job ma'am!"  I asked her to read me back what notes she had mad on my last call, and I quote "she don't wanna pay, and doesn't feel she is responsible for the balance" WOW... this is what I said? No it's what she got out of the conversation, how ignorant.  She then asked me to hold and checked the line to see if I hung up yet.  I called back AGAIN and at this time, they just stopped answering the phone for me....HA PAYBACK for all those collector that blow our phones up.  Finally I used my boyfriend's phone and called in for the last time, a gentleman answered I was able to explain, and decided to just pay the bill at this point, I asked that the gentlemen that handled the claim properly to update the notes dealing with my "debt".  The insurance co will reimburse me but I just wanted to make sure this company wasn't going to try some crap with me.  BTW this "debt" was for medical bill was for surgery that I needed after returning home from AFGHANISTAN, and yes the Military is fully responsible for my med bills, and I especially didn't appreciate the treatment on Veteran's Day.   -- happy vet's day guys.

    Not falling for it
They called, asked for me. I was not available. Would not leave message. I have sent information to the State Corporation Commission, The attorney General of Virgina and the internet crimes division (IC3) of the Federal Trade Commission.

Currently an investigation is being conducted into whether they are liscened to conduct business in all states.
Provide NO information and request everything in writing. Then make copies and send to your states regulatory board.
Bet they will leave you alone then.

got a call today from this number, they left a message saying to call them back about an important business matter, I don't owe anyone anything, and I don't respond to such vague messages because I know thats how scams begin to get information. Caller ID said "Toll Free SVC" and that don't ring a bell either. I want to say I've gotten calls from these people before about a year or two ago, guess they're back now. I just ignored them then and thats most likely what I'll do now unless it gets really bad then I'll report them.

A man Called from this collection agency i sent a payment to the address he provided.Done, I thought my debt had been paid no more calls from that guy.... 3 months later a lady calls from same number saying the same place same total and states there is no record of me talking to anyone. Now im one to pay my bills but I will not pay the same bill twice I dont care if she doesnt beleive me,  I know I paid. So I think this company is crap and I hope they enjoy that first payment cause they wouln't get another one outa me.
