These people call my work and do not seem to be sure who they are looking for. When I asked about the validity of their call, they stated "Fraud is very serious and so are lawsuits." "Yes, they are quite serious, but so is scamming people. WHAT DEBT ARE YOU CALLING ABOUT?!?" and she hung up on me. Get some smart people to work for you if your business is scamming people.

    My brother is a deadbeat
They keep calling and texting me looking for my brother, a deadbeat.   I've been estranged from my brother for 5+ years.   I tell them and they don't care.   Sucks.

If you would take the initiative to find honest work in a reputable industry you wouldn't have to make apologies for the scum you chose to work for. Nobody owes you a damn phone call and people are certainly under no obligation to waste their precious time on you!

I always find it amazing when people devote so much time to replying to really old posts (2009, 10 years ago in this case) and actually expect those people to stop back and see their reply.  Why is that?  Why would you not take that energy and use it to find the correct way to handle this particular problem?

They are a collector. When someone calls and ask hour you by name, NEVER SAY THAT YOU ARE THAT PERSON. Make them tell you who they are. Do not acknowledge that they even asked you who they are. Do not respond to any question asking if you are... Insert name...
Tell them if they do not tell you why they are calling this number, that you will hand up. If they say they called looking for... Insert name.... Then ask them what they want. If they revise to tell you what they want with someone they are a debt collector. Tell them they have the wrong number. Do not acknowledge any question regarding them asking if you are.... Insert name. Tell them you can't understand why they are calling, or that you can't understand the question. Tell them that you have a bad connection, tell them that they must have the wrong number and to please stop calling. Try to keep this going as long as possible to waste their time, but do not ever acknowledge the question about who you are or if you are the person they're asking about. Do not ever acknowledge that question. Keep asking other questions. Keep telling them they have a bad connection keep climbing they have the wrong number, keep telling them to please stop calling. Keep them on the phone as long as possible but never acknowledged that you are that person. The more of their time that you waste the less money that that they make. If we all take up 4 minutes of their time the business will become so unprofitable that they will quit doing it. All you have to do is never acknowledge the day have asked a question of who you are or if you are the person they're looking for keep saying that you do not understand, then waste their time. This number is a collection agency.

Called and asked me to verify my name. She got my first name but I couldn’t understand the last name she was saying. She then asked me if my address was…I understood the city, state and zip code but for the life of my I could not understand the street she was trying to say. I’ve lived in this city for 30 years and still couldn’t figure it out. Msg to debt collectors - Hire people that can actually speak the language. I’m really not try to be rude and as god is my witness I really tried to understand her. In the end I just told her she must have the wrong number and hung up.
