we go online to check the #, and find out there are a lot people being
bothered by this phone call, so they report the # and the co to FTC. One lady even says that she gonna hire lawyer to bring up a class action against this co. don't listen or try to straighten out thing with them,
they're all fake stuff, just report to www.ftc.gov- Caller: LHR, Inc.

- ChristieI live in a duplex, they called and left a message for me on my nieghbors phone. They must have just gotten my address and did a search for a phone at that address. I dont even have a landline phone. I have not called them back because I found this site, but I am worried that my neighbors are going to get harrassed on my behalf.

- Tom DSaid I have ignored their correspondence and calls and it would be in my best interest to call back. They said if I had legal representation to have them call. It would not be a good idea to ignore their correspondence and calls.

If they disclosed anything about your situation to your mother, including a threat, then they have violated federal debt collection laws. A debt collector can only contact a third-party for the purpose of locating someone. They are forbidden by law from disclosing to a third-party anything about why they are looking for you, nor can they make a threat against you via a third-party) If I were you, I would immediately pursue legal action against them if they have committed such violations. The following websites provide lots of good legal advice on dealing with outlaw debt collectors and also provide referrals to consumer law attorneys. (By the way, many consumer law attorneys that you can find through these websites work on contingency; so don't worry about not being able to afford an attorney to defend your rights.):

http://www.naca.net/debt-collection-abuse/
http://www.fairdebtlawyers.com/
http://www.myfairdebt.com/
http://www.consumercounselgroup.com/
Also, assuming what they told your mother violated debt collection laws, you can also report them to your state's attorney general and go on online to the Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint:
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
Finally, you can send them a letter directing them to cease all attempts to communication with you and warning them that you'll pursue every applicable legal sanction against them if they fail to comply with your cease-communication notice. Just be sure to mail it via *certified* US Mail with a return receipt request, and save a copy of your letter. If they contact you more than once after receiving your cease communication letter, then they are breaking the law and subject to fines for each violation. You can find more details about the cease-communication option on the websites of the NACA and Bud Hibbs that I referenced above.
Hope this helps. - ec replies to ecBy the way, your mother has the legal right to put a stop to those phone calls. She, too, can send them a cease-communication notice.
- ec replies to ChristieSee my message below about how to send a cease-communication notice to LHR.

- ALReceived a message on my machine from "Candace" looking for a 5 year old member of my family to settle a debt. She gave a claim number and said she needed a return phone call ASAP. She left the number and ext 2324. I didn't call them back thanks to all your posts.
This is ridiculous and I hope something is done about it.- Call type: Debt collector
- LHR HELPED ME| 7 repliescalled LHR they were so helpful, they actually helped me solve my delinquencies. By reading the outlandish statements typed above I have had a great outcome and even was able to clean up my credit report with their help. I have gotten the feeling by the comments above that most of the complaints above are because some or all of you writing them are evading your responsibilites to solve your own debts as I did. Take responsibility and do less complaining. PS you should have gotten your taxes back by now, instead of buying a big screen tv pay your debts you owe!

- employee| 7 repliesi work for lhr, and sure, just like any collection agency we have some people who more than likely break the law on a daily basis - but there are plenty of us who sit down each day with the intention of actually getting people to owe bills that they owe... just because an acct is over 5 years old doesnt mean it isnt owed - ohio has a statute of limitations of 15 years on most accts... people sign up for credit cards and lets face it - when i call with a please and a thank you in my message you debtors still dont call back - dont sit online and write about how you're not paying due to practices you find offinsive - the fact of the matter is, if you take the time to contact your creditors, return phone calls after the first call or two, no one will have any reason to contact any of your neighbors or relatives... its always someone elses fault when your bills didnt get paid - step up to the plate america... or stop signing contracts you didnt read... either way - i'll talk to you soon
- Mike replies to LHR HELPED ME| 3 repliesNice try shill. They will do NOTHING to help your credit report. Go back to your cusicle and stop giving people fals einformation. BTW, How does a 5 year old have a debt already?
- SEE YOU IN COURT "laura" replies to employee| 3 repliesYou are calling people about past debts that are Bogus and never existed. You tried to make me pay for a credit card i never had!!!
- YOU ARE A Zombie Collector and it is against the law. -
I am writing CNN, MSNBC, ANYONE - who will listen. You threatened me and my family - I will not stop until this is brought to light! There are enough people on the net complaining about your company that will provide plenty of info for a WHOLE 60 MINUTES of exposing your company - easy! Hell they could do a week long series.
Now I am off to write Clark Howard in Atlanta, and FOX - just to start.
