- Isadore OpennA man called from this number and asked for someone named Jacob. When I told him there was no one here by that name, he became verbally abusive and called me a "dirty communist Jew" (I am not communist or Jewish, and I just took a shower this morning). I then asked why he was calling, he said "you know". I told him that I didn't feel like playing games, and he said that I should come and meet him in New Orleans, because he knew the mayor and his dog, and we could talk there over a bowl of Rice Krispies. I knew then that I was dealing with someone who has mental problems or who was on drugs. Then, he started singing a song, and said he was the "enema lady" and he needed some toothpaste. I then terminated the call.

- fuzzy| 1 replyI just been dealing with thesep people as well. This Candice is very very very rude and unprofessional. I've dealt with real collection agenciesb before and this is not howt they act. Theys started calling my cell phone and then started in on my parents making threats of jail, fraud and taking me to court. There's debt I paid through alliance collection for these people and now the same bills I paid for are reoccurring. When I ask for detailed information about my debt to have mailed to me with calls, duration of calls, check numbers they cut me off before I can say what I need to say and yes it sounds like they put you on mute so they don't have to listen.. when this Candice gave me a grand total of $2,922.01 she said I quote " you owe my cousin $2,922.01 no wait my company" unquote. She is also threatening to call my place of work to get a hold of me. Now wouldn't you think if she would stop being so rude on the phone she could talk to me and avoid calling my employer. What can I do? I know there scamming me but how do you stop the calls?? And seriously there is no talking to these people at all its either pay or be hung up on!

- BigA replies to fuzzyIf you paid that other "debt collector" without asking any questions, they probably put you on an easy marks list and sold it to other criminals. Following iw what they are required by law to do, where to learn more and to file complaints on this criminal activity:
This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Web site looks real cheesy and lists them in LA: https://spectrumbilling.virtualcollector.net/Contact.aspx
BBB gives them no rating with 40 complaints and 1 negative review but strangely lists them as an eviction service: http://www.bbb.org/losangelessiliconvalley/bu ... les-ca-13130417
BBB gives Heat Magazine a B- with 42 complaints: http://www.bbb.org/losangelessiliconvalley/bu ... les-ca-13037580
I can’t find a company registration anywhere which would mean that they are not legally allowed to conduct business. From the looks of it they are operating under a ton of names in order to avoid detection. However they are using a PO Box which means they had to provide ID to open it and the USPS will release the information when served with a subpoena.
The address seems to come back to several organizations including an adult magazine:

When I checked them out on Google I got numerous testimonials of people saying that these guys are nothing but scammers trying to intimidate people by saying that if they don't pay they'll be charged for fraud and sent to jail. The fact that they called my dad the other day was the last straw I'm tired of these guys.

- AnyonusmThis company is pestered me with payment on a bill that I could not pay since this company charged way too much money and this company is calling my mother saying I owe them money but which they do not tell it is a violation for them to call my mother or anybody and ask for me to pay them some money which I do not have. My worst mistake was calling their number for a service but I was never told what the charge and nor did I agree with overwhelming what I was been charged for and what the charges are at all. This company will lie and violate your constitution rights by saying you agreed to their rates and their practices are rude not professional conduct at all. This owner does not understand that you do not call a person family to get a person , who owes you to pay it at all.

- Twin| 8 repliesI'm guilty of making a few phone calls and a number called me yesterday from "adult entertainment" I think, with the number 1-800-999-7932, and she said that I owed $111 from October. After looking through my phone they had called 3 times with me answering the 3rd one but they never left any voicemails with the other 2 calls. I just canceled my last debit card and am currently waiting on my new one to come in but she said to call her back at 1-800-616-7833. Please help I'm having bad anxiety after reading reviews about these 2 numbers
