called twice today, once yesterday. Left no message.

They call me almost once in a week. A dell support representative with an Indian accent says there is a harmful virus in my computer and they are getting a virus alarm from my laptop. However I have not used that computer for almost 2-3 years now. When I inform them about this, they insist on selling me a warranty to prevent this or something otherwise they say my personal information will be compromised.

I asked their name once, he told me his name is John Cena!? like the wrestler!! and he hung up. After that, they called me again and I told them that I don't want extra warranty since I don't use that computer anymore and the representative called me a***hole and hung up. I asked for a case number to confirm with Dell and again they called me something I could not understand and hung up.

So either this is a scam and they have access to my personal information through Dell or Dell has some really irresponsible and rude support representative. My recommendation to everyone is, ask for a case number and call Dell by yourself instead of trusting this number.

I just wanted to remind you something, people who come to this website through this phone number usually google the phone number and click on the first one. They do not read 18 pages of complaints, they will never do and there is nothing you can do about it. What they will do is simply reading one or two of them and sharing their own experiences to help others which is a very nice thing to do. It is not their job to make sure that it was mentioned before or not, even if you think that it is their responsibility, it doesn't matter, because they will never consider it as their job and they are right. All they need to do is writing their name and their experiences which is exactly what they will keep doing.

If you do not want to see any of these repetitive posts, please contact with the website admins to eliminate them or block the repetitive posts. Otherwise I do not see any reason for you to act like a police on this subject. Well if you are the responsible one, that is another discussion.

If there is ever a class action lawsuit, we all need to get involved as I have had the same thing happen to me.

I made a HUGE mistake and bought a piece of crap Dell computer that had nothing but problems back in July 2015.  After numerous phone calls, service trips and complaining, they took that computer back and sent me a refurbished model!  I had bought the original computer NEW and this was the best Dell could do.  I suspect they either sold my personal information to someone or one of their employees did so, but when these scammers call, they know ALL of my personal information.  If someone wants to start a class action lawsuit against Dell, count me in!!!

I think we all need to have a class action lawsuit against Dell based on the number of people on here, apparently Dell sold our infomation!

I have the same problem with my computer, and the same people called me. I do not think is a bridge, I think is an inside job, because they know I have concierge service with Dell and I gave Dell an special tel number to call me, no one else has that number because I do not use that emergency number, well  the scammers called me on that emergency number. I told Dell I do believe it is an inside job. Dell said they are working on getting  the responsible person. I just got a call, and it goes on and on, it will never stop unless you change your phone number and do not give it to Dell.

I received a call from this number this morning, 800-624-9896.  I have no support requests right now.  They claimed to be from Dell concierge. They claimed there was a file on my computer preventing updates.  The number itself was Dell on my caller ID. when I remained suspicious, they gave me my exact service ID tag on the bottom of my computer, my model, my email address, etc.  At that point, they took me to FastSupport dot com, wanting me to download the Go2Assist software (which I have from a support request in September).  That software, had I used it, would have given him access to my system.  Since I've done some tech support at an online high school, I prefer to know how to do things myself, so I told him I do some tech support and would rather he walked me through it, I already had Windows Explorer open so I could find the "file" he was speaking of.  At that point, he asked me if I knew what a BSOD error.  I responded Blue Screen of Death.  He asked how does one fix it.  I told him how it's fixed.  At that point he told me he would call back and hung up.

I IMMEDIATELY called Dell tech support.  After explaining the issue and my suspicions (that a former Dell employee had stolen customer info and was now scamming them into opening a door into systems for hacking), the support guy did some checking and stated that the number was an OLD Dell number, and hadn't been in use for a while.  That pretty much clinched it for both of us.  He transferred me to a different department where I made my report.

(and actually, he sounds very much like a tech guy I once spoke with at Dell who hung up on me because he didn't  have a clue of how to fix my system other than re-install the OS.  _I_ actually managed to fix it myself, later! It was a Net Framework issue.

since I DO do my own tech support, and only call in for extreme cases that have me stumped, I am obviously suspicious of random calls I get from people claiming to be support and wanting access.  Even though he had my service tag number, I still wouldn't grant what he wanted.

It was apparent to both myself and the tech guy that this is a sophisticated hacker scam, being run by someone who used to work for Dell and has stolen data from them before leaving.  If this changes, I'll update, but for now, don't grant the access requested.

I received a call today and this is going on for 3 or 4 months; usually I ask them to spell the name of the company and a couple of times it was "Deltek" (they spell very fast). The caller has an Indian accent.
This last time she spell DELL; but the motive of the called was the same of always "my Ip address was compromised" and they want to give me instructions to follow.
I asked for a phone # to call back and they give me (916)287-1928 even do on my ID caller I can see the 800-624-9896.
This is scam call; do not follow their instructions because they will gain access to your computer

Ditto here...I got him all twisted up by asking him for my last service request number. Sure, like if my email was sending out spam folks would call Dell?

Persistent jerks -- back at it again.  Six calls in two days -- all un-answered.  So much for usefulness of caller id.

Broken English called today using my name and a fake Service Tag number, Two calls two different individuals. Claimed to be from Dell Tech Support and referenced Gmail. Call 318 and 327 PM CST.

Calling from "Dell Concierge Service" to let me know my Microsoft was not working correctly. Two scams in one. Bonus!

A man with a heavy Indian accent called from a number ID'd as Dell. He claimed that "something" was wrong with my computer's drivers and he needed to investigate. I disputed that and advised him that I would call Dell myself to verify the validity of his unsolicited call and rather suspicious claim. He quickly hang up. It appears that Dell's number has been spoofed by hackers and Dell is doing NOTHING about it. I called them at a different number and they nonchalantly told me to just ignore any such calls in future. Beware of any unsolicited calls and avoid attempts to give your computer's access to unknown "Techs". You WILL be sorry if you do.

It's a rip-off.  Claiming to be a Dell tech - trying to gain access to your computer.  Report these calls to the real Dell.com
