I answered, said "hello" three times over 15 seconds, no response. Didn't realize it was DELL (probably about my computer they currently have and are repairing) until I googled the number and found this thread. There should have been no delay in phone systems, as it's being repaired in TX, not India.

I just got the call from Dell saying I need coverage on my soft ware. . I also got a call from Dell about a month ago from phone no. 1-877-409-3272  wanting to access my computer. I reported this to Dell and they said that this was a false number. I also reported it to the BBB.

Received phone calls from this number claiming to be related to a Dell Service Contract.  This seems to be another scam related to the phone number 877-899-6051.

This is a Dell number.  I have told them at least six times that I NO LONGER HAVE A DELL COMPUTER SO STOP CALLING ME.  I have called back the number calling me, the corporate offices, etc. -  They continue to call several times a week.  I wish I knew how to stop them.  I know I will never ever buy a Dell computer again.

I answered because caller ID said Dell, they said they were Dell tech support and was calling about an issue with my printer, and that my pc has been infected. Bells went off, how would they know what's going on with my pc. Hung up on them and called Dell, tech said I had gotten a scam call. Be careful.

I received a call from 1-800-624-9896 this morning and a woman from India told me that Dell was receiving error messages and warnings for a computer that I trashed 2 years ago!  She wanted me to turn on this machine and she would guide me through the steps necessary to delete files on the computer.  I kept telling her that I don't have that computer any more and she kept telling me that Dell was getting these warnings about my system...What?? How could Dell get anything from this machine since the hard drive was removed 2 years ago and it hasn't been plugged in since?  I wanted to know exactly what files she wanted me to delete and she wouldn't tell me.  She only wanted me to turn the thing on and she would guide me through the process.  This sounded too much like some kind of a scam and I hung up on her and she called me back again!

I called the Dell Pro Support and informed them about this matter and the rep told me it was a scam.  The really scary thing is that the woman knew my name!

Good news is that I didn't believe her and I didn't do what she wanted me to do....it just sounded too bizarre in the first place

I have had 15 calls over the last 5 days.  Every time I answer (I have answered about 6-7 times) it drops the call.  Never a single voicemail.

Today I answered expecting to be dropped and instead got someone!  They are trying to tell me an unknown ip address is trying to connect to my laptop and that they want to do a support session on it.  Really?  He guy also states that it is in an "illegal state"....whatever that means.

Since when does Dell care about un-warrentied laptops?  My laptop warranty ran out months ago.  This whole thing sounds fishy....

This is a known scam - they call saying they're with Dell and they're receiving error messages from our computer.  They want to remotely access.   Bull-hockey!  I ask where they are and they say New York.  I tell them that Dell doesn't have a tech support center.  I ask for their Dell extension number (7 digits)  They can't provide that - they just give an area code 786 number which they say will come to their desk.   Eventually when I continue to ask questions, they hang up on me.  then I hear a recording saying the 'relay was terminated', which of course means, that they weren't calling from NY at all.  Liars and crooks.

Caller is a male (usually named Jim or 'Jeem') with very heavy Indian accent).

Dell has a service that will detect problems and they monitor, but you pay up front.  I've not paid for that service

I've gotten a few of these lately.  Today they said Dell but last week, they said Microsoft.  All said they were in NY but had heavy Indian or Malaysian accents.  I told them that Dell has no center in NY.

My Dell laptop is also just out of warranty.  It's beyond fishy.  I think that perhaps some of these scammers have accessed Dell's database and they're trying to find someone they can scam into allowing access to the computer.  And if indeed, Dell's info hasn't been hacked, the chances are high that the business they call will have a Windows computer and a Dell computer.  They are scammers.

I've blocked the number in my iphone.  (I received the call which was forwarded from my business line to my cell phone.)

DO NOT TRUST.  Fake Dell tech support call.  Scam.  Said I they had info that my computer had a virus on it.  Wanted me to use the Windows key+r (opens "run" command on desktop) to run something on my computer, didn't get far enough to know what though.  Knew my first name and email.  Did not have correct service tag for computer.  Said his name was "Adam Smith", uh no.  Clearly foreign accent, most likely from India.  You could hear a bunch of people in the background like it was a call center.  Hung up on me after I continued to ask questions to see if I could catch him out.    Probably really do have virus or something on my computer I shouldn't based on this lol.

Has called several times and never left a message.  I finally answered.  Extremely heavy accent said it was "Windows technical support."  She did not say it was Dell.  I hung up.  The last few calls I've gotten like this have been scam calls where they tell you your computer is infected and they are calling to help you fix it - and, then, take over your computer and get all your banking info.  If this really was Dell, they need to work on not sounding like the scam calls.
