Which is funny considering my computer has been at the dump for over a month. A severe thermal event had occured so I tossed it and bought an Acer. What idiots. It's a scam.

- ALICIA| 1 replyI got a call from Dell, telling me I had viruses on my computer. She said she would clean it up, which said she did. She insisted I pay the bill with my debit card thru Western Union. I gave her my debit card #, the bank refused to pay it. I called my bank, they told me it is a fraud & cancelled my debit card immediately. They also inquired about 3 charges made to my account which I didn't make.

- ABCCalled a couple times last week. No name in Caller ID. Made the mistake of answering first call. He claimed he was looking for another person and could I provide his phone number. He supplied his name. I asked what business was he representing and he just repeated his name. I told him to explain why he was calling me and what this was about. He would not explain, so I told him to not bother me again!

- MikeHuntletonBrand name computer companies are major targets for scammers to spoof their numbers and pretend to be Tech Support for them.
This is a Dell Home & Office Support number. So its safe to call this number, just don't trust any caller that you were not expecting a call from.
Help spread the word and prevent someone from becoming a victim.
Fact:- ANYONE who calls you and says your computer called/contacted them is a SCAMMER.
- Windows Operating System licenses do not expire.
- ANY Tech Support Warning pop-ups you get while accessing the internet asking you to call a number or visit a website, is from a SCAMMER.
- Web Browsers DO NOT have the ability to determine and warn you your computer has an error. They can only warn you about a potential malicious website. A Browser is software that allows you to surf the Internet, not diagnose a computer or phone.
- ANY Tech Support company that insists you need their services because of some error, outdated software or tries to convince you that you need to allow them remote access is a SCAMMER.
- Nobody could possibly know if your computer or devices have an issue unless you tell them or gave them access.
- Tech Support companies DO NOT call to give out refunds because they are "going out of business". In fact NO company gives refunds when going out of business unless they did not provide you with what you paid for.
- Companies DO NOT call to inform you that your subscription will be charged if you don't call back, only SCAMMERS do that. If you have a subscription with someone, they automatically charge you until you cancel it.
Please read about how Tech Support Scammers operate the scams and warn everyone possible about them.

TrendMicro FAQ on Tech Support Scams
Microsoft - Protect yourself from Tech Scams
Never trust a caller who wants to "help your computer" for any reason (unless you contacted them first), as they are only going to scam you. If you need Tech Support, you should contact a reputable local service. - AnnI own all dell computers. Dell never calls you unless prearranged with you ahead of time. Apparently ex-employees of Dell did take info of customers, not anything personal I was told, just your computer type, warranty info & they call you saying they are Dell from a company they now work for to get your business. DO NOT answer or open anything it is NOT Dell.!
