This number calls me EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am really annoyed that they call me when I am trying to sleep! Today they have called me 5 times, but from the reviews I am guessing some [***] put in a number that was not theirs, and it happened to be mine, or it is a scam number trying to get my information.

How many times will you allow them to call before you obtain a call blocker?  Google (or your favorite search engine) is your friend.

Sears Mastercard is run by Citibank.  Send them a certified, return receipt stop calling letter

They canceled a card due to possible fraud. Then applied the most recent payment (well above the minimum payment) to the old card number. I got a call saying we were past due. Talked to the lady who wasn't much help. Actually hoping someone else calls back, maybe I'll get better answers

Number provided in message from Citi Sears card. I don't have one. When called, they ask for account number or Social Security number. I have no way to verify this is legit so no to both.

Whether it's a scam or not, my personal theory is an attempt to collect money from people who DO have a Sears credit card or from people who they "think" have a Sears credit card. I believe the root cause is to obtain money to help the post-bankruptcy process.

If Sears doesn't make these calls, then there is a good chance Sears will not survive.

They aren't contacting you though. Companies can call and verify employment based on the debt you owe. Which would be why they are asking for HR

You can give them the number they called. It's probably just a wrong number given to them by someone.  It's not  a scam it's Citibank.  They handle lots of credit cards
