- NoneMy husband received a phone call a few days ago and the caller claimed to be with Verizon Wireless (who our phone plan is with) but was asking for my mother's phone number and information (she is head of the account). When he wouldn't give them the information they gave him a phone number for her to call back. He typed the phone number in here and found it was a scam. After warning all the members of the family on the phone plan, my mother received a call tonight from a male claiming to be from verizon. They were asking for me using my maiden name. She asked who he was and what he wanted me for. The man just kept repeating his name (Kris) and stated he needed to speak to me. As soon as she got pushy he hung up on her. It was an unavailable number. Now we have received 2 phone calls in the past week. I'm not sure how they got our information but they know we are on the same plan apparently.

- Matt Former Verizon Wireless CustomerI just got off the phone with the number that has been mentioned throughout this thread. (949.286.3311) They were reminding me I have a end of balance due from Verizon Wireless. After reading through this I've come to realize it's either a scam or collection agency for Verizon. They did threaten me that if I didn't pay it would go to collections, so either they're a routing system from Verizon TO collections or they're Verizon's collection agency I don't know. But, after reading through this post I'm not going to take any chances by calling the number (800.754.0961) they gave me and pay to them. Reason? I was under the impression I had a certain ending amount but talking to this individual it was in fact almost DOUBLE the amount. I'm not saying it is or isn't but I will get to the bottom of this when it comes time and will call Verizon Wireless directly instead of taking "her" advice and doing it over the phone. If anything I will send it into Verizon. Too many red flags and after reading this... I will NOT be using the number she told me to use to pay over the phone. Thanks 800notes for saving me quite possibly a lot of grief and maybe even 100s of dollars.

- AnthonyAs an ex-employee at the Rancho Cordova, CA Center, VZW (Verizon Wireless) never calls you if you're late on your bill. You (the primary number on the account, if there is more than one phone), will only get a text message from Financial Services. It would be a good idea if you haven't done it already is register for your free "My Verizon" account on Verizon's website and keep tabs on your usage and make your payments directly through them.
You can also make a payment using the *PMT (+send) command from your handset.- Caller: Unknown

- KevinJust got one from a call named "Karen." She was calling my phone, looking for the primary plan holder, which happens to be another family member. I tried to get information, as this was a "cell" calling me, and not a business. The number she gave me was the 1-800-754-0961. So, it's a shame that this is unresolved 2 years later.
- jayGlad this site is here. Just got a VM from someone telling me to call 7540961 immediately. I never call any number I dont know or answer unknown calls. After reading all of these posts I will be informing the rest on my plan to ignore these calls as well. Although when I looked it up online I was given info that this number was a landline in Davis,CA. Any which way I only pay my bill on the verizon site so the scammers are out of luck.
- recd call tooOn 03/20/09, 03/24/09 & 03/26/09 I recd calls from someone claiming to be from Verizon Wireless & stated that i was late on a payment; However, this was not true. According to my caller ID, the call originated from #949-286-3311. The caller, a female, knew the exact amount I owed on my account, but this amount is not due until April. I called a direct phonenumber to Verizon's Corporate Office and spoke to someone named Chris. I was told that both numbers (the 800&949#'s) were not valid numbers & he verified that my account was up-to-date. Now, I just ignore the calls.

- PamI got a call from this number yesterday and again today. I logged onto http://www.fcc.gov/ and filed an online complaint with the Federal Communications Commission. Not sure much will come of it, but it was worth a try!
- Caller: Said "Verizon"
- ldybkr6Be very careful...I, too, have been getting calls from "Verizon" wanting money. I researched these calls and found out (after calling LOTS of Verizon people) that the money they said we owed was an activation fee that was supposed to have been waived. You all should know that cell phone companies don't report to Equifax, etc. when your bill is paid on time, only when they say you owe them money. I don't know how long this will take to get off our credit report, but I'm here to tell you Stay Away From Verizon, if at all possible. In this company, the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing, and it took me 2 weeks to clear this mess up.
- ldybkr6 replies to Ruby| 7 repliesI called that # and got "Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless" This kind of bill collecting (harassment) is typical of Verizon's customer no-service.
- PJSI get calls from this number every so often, same message everyone else got. Ironically, it almost always happens a few days after I make my payment. I do have a Verizon mobile account. The funny thing is, they leave the message on my home phone. I have never been contacted by Verizon on that number. They've always either sent a text message or left a voice message on my mobile number if my payment was late. The fact that this always seems to happen after a payment is made leads me to believe that whoever this is must have some inside information from Verizon. Verizon has verified that this is not them, but the timing has me wondering how they get their info.

- AmandaI got a call this morning from 949-286-3311 and a lady said she was calling from Verizon Wireless and asked for Mr. Don (insert last name) regarding a bill and I told her that this was my phone (duh), and it wasn't registered under my father, which was red flag #1 otherwise they wouldn't have called my cell. They said to have my dad call this 800 number by the end of the day to get the account fixed. Yeah right...

- DragonApril 6th -(7425), April 16th - (3311), First one at just after 5 pm. Second one at 8:06 this morning. Hung up when I heard the recording. Did some serious thinking through out the day and in the last 3 months I have only given my cell number to 2 places. Smog Busters, and, Infinity Insurance. If this is common with some of you, then we might be able to narrow down the source. Some larger Corporations Sell their client information once or twice a year. Most of what I'm hearing from you is included in that info. Account names, relationship to, account contact info, Payment date history, Geographic\Demographic info, ect ..... . What is not(supposed)to be included is account number, payment account information, DL number, Social Security number, or account password. If they obtain ANY of those things from you than they can contact their source and, posing as you, have the company send them a copy of ALL of your information. Hope that helps.

- daddyjIts funny... everyone says its not Verizon. It is actually Verizon. I have called it a few times because it was given to me by the customer service rep when I called *611 to ask for grace on a late bill. Its their financial reposibilty section. Everytime I have called they have been nothing but helpfull and assisted me with paying down my balance.
- Steve replies to jenerator| 3 repliesI just got a call from a lady who said I had a balance due on an old account with Verizon. This was true, I recently closed my account with them, but didn't think I had a balance due. I asked her what number I could call back on, now wanting to give info out over an incoming call. She gave me 1800 754 0961 which is how I found this site.
I called Verizon, not only do I not have a balance due but this is NOT A VERIZON NUMBER. Definitely a phishing scam. - GoGo girl replies to Cawaian| 6 repliesThis number belongs to Verizon Wireless Financial Services and is not a phishing scam. When calling the number it immediately says 'Welcome to Verizon wireless. You have reached financial services'.
- jassThis is a Verizon Wireless number and I am an employee. Some people fail to realize that they have more than one account and they call from an active number so that's the account that automatically pops up on our screen. Some reps just don't do any further research, and I'm quite sure that we didn't give out a wrong password because for security purposes we can't disclose that info. That's automatically grounds for termination. People need to stop lying about this being a fake number. When people accuse me of being a scammer I just tell them thanks and have a great day because it's going on their credit and affecting there account, not mine!
