- Really?| 1 replySo there is a place to document this scam/spam since 2008 and it’s still going on? 1-800-754-0961. It left the name of the person who had our number before us. We don’t have a Verizon account. They call every morning between 8-9 am. I called to tell them to stop calling. I got a voice message asking to enter my SSN or TIN. Who can stop this?
- Caller: Verizon Financial Services

Until someone knows exactly who is spoofing the number and making the calls, what do you expect anyone to do about it? Its not likely they are actually calling from this number and more than likely the originating caller's number is a different one each time too.Quote:Who can stop this? - post pending moderator approval
- Becky J.Yikes...I'm glad I didn't return this call. As it happens, I've recently switched to a different carrier and Verizon DOES claim I owe them money, and have called once a day for the past week or so. But that call really is Verizon, for sure. I dispute that I owe them and asked them to mail me a paper bill, and they did so. But anyway, THIS number called me at my work number today. I happened not to be able to answer and it left a voicemail. The voicemail actually included my FULL NAME, with my middle initial which I rarely use (but did use with Verizon). But the 10 digit reference number given in the message was my work number, not my own number, which I thought was odd. So now I just don't know. So many people here flagged it as a scam, but if it's not legit then certainly the timing is a crazy coincidence since Verizon claims I owe them money. I could easily have fallen for this, under my current circumstances.

- NancyI have had 4 incoming calls over the last week from 256-665-9547, to my landline which I didn't answer. A voice message was left each time. A woman's voice saying she was with Verizon Wireless Financial services about account changes that belonged to someone other than myself saying it was urgent to call back. The call back number given every time was 800-754-0961 and reference number given was my landline which is not Verizon. The Caller ID displayed the number as "ST1F".

- The Legend replies to mikeI got the same voicemail as above except they said they were calling from Verizon financial services. They gave the same 800 # to call them back at. Still happening as of 10/7/21… insane… ridiculous… and so unfair that these thieves can get away with stealing our time, peace of mind & information from people who are too innocent! Arghh :(
- akGot a call with partial message from this number. Caller was unidentified. Led me to this 800notes suggesting it is Verizon. I left Verizon several weeks ago for a different carrier. My account should have been paid in full, also because I did not complete the month. Either Verizon or someone is suggesting I owe another month, but my account with Verizon was closed with the number. Customer service is no help, just saying I owe another month. When they transfer me to billing it is automated and give no balance due. Customer service people have no desire to figure it out. Seems to be a scam if they can't provide the actual bill by email or when you request the balance.
- Caller: Maybe Verizon

- DebbieI keep getting this number listed under State Employee. I have called back and was not told that it was from Verizon, but they are looking for a Marcus Collins. I told them I did not know the person they were seeking and to take my name off their calling list. She said she would and I have received three calls since then looking for the same person. Unsure which direction to go, but considering reporting this to the fraud department (perhaps FCC?)

- MikeReceived an automated voicemail on our business phone, after hours on Saturday. It said to call this toll-free number about the Verizon Wireless account and reference the 10-digit number, which sounded like an area code and phone number - the number is not known to anyone here. The message sounded urgent but luckily I found this thread. Our caller ID shows the name as "Smart Start" and the caller ID number shows 941-201-3119 - I will search that next.

- Luvbugdee replies to CawaianThank you so much for the info, very helpful! Yes, I received a voicemail similar to everyone, the beginning of the VM was cut off, and it was a recording message it didn’t state from Verizon. But I knew something was wrong b/c my bill is not late. Umm… scam, scam, scam! Beware.
