This is probably not a real person but a planted message by that company.

    The text is too mechanical.

The Internet makes researching these guys a 5 minute process.

I received the similar postcard with the same 18008136994 and it has Hilton logo on it for 3-days/2 night get-a-way and 300 walmart gift voucher (just as sample). And ready to make a call until I found your comments. Thanks a lot. I will throw it in the trash.

Hi, Like many of the previous posters I received a card in the mail with the Hilton Logo that says "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"... "In Honor of your Birthday, we would like to offer you a complimentary 3-Day/2 Night Hilton Get-a-way to many of the Hilton properties located in the continental USA.  Offer also includes TWO complimentary ROUND TRIP AIRFARES to any major international airport in the continental U.S.!!!!".... also includes verbiage about a 300.00 Walmart Gift voucher.

Thanks for this site.  I'll be tossing this one in the round file.

Got the same birthday deal offered but mine included a $50 AMEX Gift card.  Went and spent the two hours.  Immediately activated and used the $50 towards dinner for us in the area.   If nothing else, they paid for 1/2 my dinner.   This time they used 1-800-507-5010

Received the same Happy Birthday mail this week. Really don't think Walmart needs to put 'promotional rebates' in the mail.....

I got this flimsy looking envelope in the mail today with a birthday message written all over it.  Opened it to discover that they not only have my name down incorrectly (which was the first sign), but that I won a free stay at the Hilton and that I was eligible to receive a free $300 Walmart voucher.  I knew it was a scam but googled the number on the letter anyway (1-800-813-6994) and was linked back to this site.

I noticed from previous posts on this thread that many victims are VA residents--I'm one too, and I am curious as to why a lot of Virginians are targeted in this scam.  I wonder who sold our information...

    What a bunch of creeps.

We just received the same offer as stated below.  Highly suspect when there is no return address or other contact.  The Happy Birthday card is timely enough that the party that sent it has access to my name, address and birthdate.  Decided to search the only piece of info on the card and that is the phone number.  Thanks for keeping a running dialog on this "offer."  Mine is in the the trash, although I do like the balloons and the personalized Happy Birthday.

FREAKIN CREEPS!!!  I just called the number on my card before reading this blog.  First they asked my status (single, married, or living with someone).  I'm single, and they said that it was is good only for couples and females????  Ha ha!  The lady on the other line said no single men, but that I could have a female friend pick them up though...when I asked what was up with these strange restrictions, she said that they alternate months between male and females...I just told her no thanks anyway.

It's really creepy though that these people know my name, birthday, address... and now status and probably my phone number after I called them.  I've gone ahead and changed all my log in information to all my online banking accounts.

    SCARY STUFF!!!!

    You know who
Gosh, how thoughtful of the scammers to remember my birthday two years in a row. This year it's West Palm Beach FL. Permit #3950 and, in honor of my birthday, a complimentary Hilton "getaway" along with two round-trip airfares.  Perhaps someone should inform Mr. Hilton that his  chain  is part of a fraud, but then, he probably already knows that.
My name is prominently displayed on the front along with balloons and a bow , but I find the back more interesting.  There are balloons with typed PX353-1    Mark Licensing INC  Mark Cards INC  and Made in the USA(glad to see they buy American)  In addition, the name Mark, in script, stands alone; I guess to make sure I know it's from Mark.  Mark who? Spencer, Corwin or Mark Target?
I've already missed the deadline for the weekday Walmart bonus, and I''ll pass on calling 800-813-6994. I do find the offer #PB007 rather suspicious-James Bond?

Well, last year my offer was from US Airlines  Permit #850 mailed from zipcode 32114.   Basically the same offer but with a Holiday Inn "getaway" and a $500 dollar gift voucher.  The number then was 866-318-0787 and Millennium was the sole provider of the promotion. That offer contained a fake airline ticket voucher with seat 07C(someone likes 0's and 7's) with an address of Sunshine Promotions 901 31st NW  DC.  I did not call or respond to the scammers.
In 2008 my husband and adult daughter received similar scam promotions, but seem to have been missed this past year,  I don't think they felt left out. However, I would like to know how they got my daughter's address since we share no accounts other than  USAA auto insurance.  Their offers were from World Wide Travel using USAirlines and American Airlines along with Carnival and Royal Carribean Cruise lines.

These spam- scam mailings began in Dec. of 2007 with a post card from a Cone Ramos whom I actually called on a non-home phone to inquire how he had obtained my name and address.  Since he'd been "crazy trying to reach me",  I thought he would be able to state clearly and directly how  his company got addresses , but, alas, in a very accented voice, told me it was from a "melon" (mailing) list.  When I asked how one got off the list , he told me it was  impossible.  Seems like that part was the truth.  I never gave him my name or address.
So, it goes--hoping one day the postal service or the FCA  or the FBI or CIA finds Mark or Cone or 007 and puts them out of business.

    You know who-- again
Well, it looks like I hit the jackpot this year, perhaps because it's one of those "special" birthday years.
My post on the previous page explained a three year experience  with phony travel scam mailings.  Just yesterday," lucky" I got a colorful birthday post card telling me "to take your dream cruise now!", offering an 8days-7nights complimentary cruise for two on any cruise line,  Carnival, Celebrity, etc.  It's labeled Permit #78, Tampa FL. with a phone  number 888-811-5565 and no company name but NCA Tampa at the bottom.  The ticketing/confirmation # is 8993, and the Bonus airfare  VIP offer # 958-0016.  I can only speculate that this scam is related to the one I detailed on the previous page from "Mark" and the others.
There are a few postings on this number on this site with references to a NJ travel scam group. So,
I'm thinking there is a master list with peoples' names, addresses, an birthdays that is shared by all kinds of low-life scammers who just keep changing phone numbers and company names.

I am curious as to if anyone else has gotten these "offers" spanning the last three years, including at least two other  family  members and their birthdays.  I wonder if anyone has gotten two different scam solicitations for the same birthday as I have.  These scam offers started arriving just after I had started receiving odd emails and phone calls which caused my husband and I to cut off internet service for a while and change phone numbers.  We continued to get harassing phone calls and changed our number again.  It's quite a long, detailed story , and I will be telling it soon.

I just got this flimsy piece of trash today stating it would be Hilton this time. This thing just screams "SCAM!", no way any reputable business would lend its name to this sorry attempt at marketing. I intend to  alert both Hilton & Walmart to what I'm certain is the unauthorized use of their name.

Looks like the scammers are at it again.  Today I received a Carnival Cruise Voucher for a free 4 day cruise for two. Plus $300 in Merchandise rebates if I reply within 72 hours.  Walmart was listed at the bottom of the notice.

The phone number is 1-866-862-4063  (I googled it but did not come up with anything).  However, I found your blogs and thought I'd post this new info which sounds very similar to the below scam.

Looks like the scam is back in play.  I received a notice today for a 4 day Carnival cruise for two people. The notice also stated that if I reply within 72 hours I would receive $300 in merchandise rebates.  Walmart was listed at the bottom of the page.

I googled but did not get any info returned. However I found your blogs listing the same situation so I posted this info:

An interesting thing to note on the Hilton / Walmart letter: If you read the back of the Walmart "gift voucher" it says the following:

Some restrictions apply. Recipient is responsible for all applicable taxes, fees, and deposits. Call for details of participation. This promotion is not sponsored by or affiliated with Hilton or Walmart but they are major suppliers. Walmart voucher is a rebate certificate.

I love that 1) you are responsible for deposits... what deposits are needed in my *complimentary* vacation, 2) they are distancing themselves from Walmart and Hilton, and 3) they are offering only to "rebate" what you spend at Walmart. I can't think of anything that reeks more of scam.

I thought this was a scam. Nothing is free in this country. Hilton will never give you anything free and the airlines will charge you for carry on luggage.
