- MrsSmithI started getting calls from these guys a few weeks ago. Normally I do not answer numbers I don't know (the whole "pick up the phone get charged" scam thing freaks me out), so just ignored it. No voicemail. This went on for days, then weeks. I finally answered a few days ago, and this guy starts asking me my birthday, social security number, etc etc. I ask him who he is affiliated with, and he dodges the question, saying "I need this information before I tell you anything about me (paraphrasing, but that's basically what he was saying)." I noped on out of that phone call, and blocked the number (One of the only nice things about having an iPhone).
The next day, he calls again....FROM A DIFFERENT NUMBER. I finally grew some cajones, and told him that if he was the same man who called me the previous day, he was going to get the same answer: tell me who he was, and why he was calling me, or he was getting no information from me about anything. He didn't say anything helpful, so I hung up and blocked that number too. Haven't gotten a call from him in a week.- Caller: Never said the name.
- MrsSmith replies to TJThis. Is. A. Scam.
Grow a brain. - Penny L| 1 replyI received a call from this number today and the lady was extremely rude. Her name was Shelley Brown, who knows if that's her real name or not, and she started asking all kinds of personal questions, but would not tell me who she worked for. When I She was extremely rude when she was talking to me, and when I tried to get information from her. This company, if it is one, should be sued for harassment. They are very shady and they also seem to seek out the most rude and unprofessional people to work for them.
- DmI have no student loans and owe money to know one. These [***] keep calling my land line, so as far as I'm conserned they are just another group of criminal drug addicts trying to steel money from people.
- Caller: No idea
- Call type: Debt collector
- Dm replies to TJCheck your facts before you go mouthing off about people you don't know. I don't owe money to anyone for anything. I haven't even been at my second home which has the number they are calling for months. This is another group of criminal drug addicts trying to steel money from people.
- Me replies to Penny LUse an air horn. Works well
- Dm replies to TJIf you had any brain at all you would be dangerous.

- CarrieJust called, only rang 3 times so the answering machine didn't come on. I looked it up here and most are saying it's about student loans. I don't have any and never did but one of my kids does (she is still going to college and doesn't live with me) Maybe they find out who might have them and call and try and collect for them? So far they only called once, but I get strange calls all the time that say various things (sometimes the name of a city and state) and don't answer and they don't leave messages.
- Caller: Toll Free Nuimber
- Janet W. replies to Debra BarrowEven though the statute of limitations has expired it does not mean they cannot call to collect. It means that they cannot take legal/court action against the debtor.
- BuddhaThe [***] called just now and I immediately blocked the number with my CPR Call Blocker v202. I've had to go with a 3rd party device as I couldn't block any more numbers with Comcast (Booooooo!!) or my Panasonic handset. The CPR Call Blocker works like a charm, and allows you to block up to a thousand numbers (in the past six months, I'm up to number 45).
- S GreenWe just received a call where they were looking for a relative. They would not identify the company and after several attempts of my husband trying to explain that he did not live at the address they were naming or have the last 4 digits of the social security number they were referencing, we realized they were really looking for his sister. I am not sure if she has a debt or not, but we certainly do not. Just because I am the relative of someone who has a debt does not mean that we should be badgered or harrassed. I would assume that reaching our to family or friends of those with a debt is not a leal way to collect on a debt. . The caller just told my husband that he needed to tell his sister that they were trying to get in touch with her but never told us the name of the company or the real reason for the call. We had to call back to get the name of the comapny
- Caller: Regional Adjustment Bureau
- D. MThey called my business number that I have forwarded to my cell. When I asked them what there business does they refused to tell me. I asked several time with no answer other then its not company policy to give out that info. It is required by law to answer that question when asked. They can't give out personal info about anyone without confirming they are speaking to the right person. This falls under the HIPPA law. I know for a fact that I have no outstanding business debt. Nor do I owe back taxes. This has all the signs of a scam. Don't give them your Social Security Number.
- Not a studentI am getting calls on my cell from this number and paid my student loans in full 12 years ago. They have no business with me. They left no message. I did not answer the call.
