They called me 3 times in 3 minutes, waited 10 minutes, called me 3 times in 3 minutes again, and then again one more time. The number they are calling is hooked up to a fax, no phone so I can't answer. It does show up on my tv when the call comes in tho. If this is in fact a debt collector for student loans, then there is a problem. I just had my student loans discharged due to permanent disability. They will monitor me for 3 years, but make no collection efforts as long as I remain totally disabled for the 3 years. After that, the discharge is final. This company must be picking up  these student loans from somewhere. There are only certain approved agencies to collect these depts. Mine is ECMC and they released me to the DOE for the 3 year monitoring less than a month ago. This has to be some sort of scam. Do not pay them your studen loans.

spoke with "ann smith" wouldnt give company name, or info regarding why she called other than trying to contact my exwife (ann said my ex had me down as personal reference...haha how many exs do that) i went to panic mode, contacted ex and she had no idea who ann smith was...i called the 800-829-7204 number and was given the runaround, then when i finally had ann smith on the line she rudely hung up on me... i called again and asked the swtchboard operator to connect me through to ann smith's supervisor, and after he kept asking for my last name i informed him that the conversation was being recorded for the oregon attorney general and he hung up on me... they sure dont like getting numerous calls themselves haha

Your commisions slipping a bit there hot-shot? Supply these people with some documentation and I bet they'll be happy to work with their creditors. You're just a bit miffed that fewer of them are falling for the scam artists routines. Look on the bright side though. After they repo your car and the collectors start coming after you, you'll be able to spot 'em a mile away!

A woman called my work phone number and asked for my home address. She did not state her name, who she was. Would not tell me what the phone call was about. I called back and got a hold of a gentlemen and he wouldnt tell me either what the phone call was about. I think they are liars and scammers. Do not talk to them.

Unbelievably rude.  Told them to take an old phone number off my account because I don't live there anymore and it's not my phone number.  She said that she'd been calling me for a month and if I wouldn't call her back then she would go down the list of other phones numbers to try to find someone to get a message to me.  I told her if she'd leave me a voice mail I'd call her back but I don't know who she is or why she's calling.  She kept yelling and arguing that she could see every time she'd called me in the computer and there was "no point in arguing".  I said she was right because I have a call log on my phone and I knew she had not been calling for a month and had not been leaving me messages.  Rude and crazy [***]!

okay so we all have the same complaints they are bothering my mom, calling and asking for my dad whom pasted away in 2008. Then they are asking if they know me, all my student loans are in deferment and I haven't been in school since 2009 so you would think that if I owe money for my student loans wouldn't they take my tax refund.

Got a call on my home phone this morning looking for contact info on my nephew who lives in another state - said it was about a "job interview, looking for references." Left name of Derek Crawford. Couldn't provide my nephew's phone #...  My nephew does have outstanding student loans, so this is probably the collection agency trying a different tactic.

This is Regional Adjustment Bureau and they were calling for my daughter not me.  They STILL left a message on my voicemail even though the voicemail told me to not listen to this message unless I was my daughter.  That is such BS!!!!  They shouldn't be able to leave ANY message for someone unless they are definitely sure who is getting the message.  They also have another phone #800-668-5715 that she left for my daughter to call.  I am definitely sure this is about overdue student loans.  I am going to block them from calling my phone from here on out.

When it comes to phone calls for debt collection, it varies from state to state, so check your state's harassment laws.. Some states allow more than one call per day but most allow one per day and none on Sunday. By law, the person calling you (or that you called) must give you the name of the company they are  calling from. If you do not remember what is owed or if you dispute the collection, you have the right to ask for and receive an itemized list of what they are collecting for (what items they are collecting for broken down into understandable language). DO NOT agree to owing the bill because this puts you back at square one when it comes to statute of limitations on the bill they are trying to collect for. The bill may be years old and the statute of limitations may have run out (meaning that the company can no longer collect for the bill). This applies for credit cards and loans. Most people do not know this and the companies thrive on this. Check out the statute of limitations for your state. Most are 3 years, but their are some states that have a statute of 5 to 6 years. The only exception to the loan statute is with student loans for school. These have no statute of limitations. Your excessive phone call experience is harassment. Check the laws. Most states only allow one call within a 24 hour period and only between the hours of 8 am to 9 pm.  More than that, depending on how many you are getting, is harassment. These people work on commission to collect a bill, and some are scams. If they cannot show you the money in black and white (they have to do this by law) and they will not give you the name of the company, their name, or any other pertinent information you ask for, then it may be a very old bill or a scam. Also check the Better Business Bureau for any complaints  or reports of scams and check the Attorney General for any lawsuits against this company. It may be a hassle to have to go through all of this, but it arms you with the information to keep you from being scammed. Remember that you do have the right to know. This is federal and state law everywhere. Do not disclose your information to them. They may use it against you to scam you for money or steal identity if they are scammers. If they have no complaints as of yet with the BBB, then start it. They are not supposed to be rude on the phone with you. Not even a lawyer is supposed to be rude. They are to state business in a business like manner, but are in no way supposed to be rude. If they are hanging up on you, as I have read in a few accounts here, then they may have a very old bill that the statute of limitations has run out on or they are scammers. I hope this helps.

Calls, let phone ring once then hang up with no message.  When I called back it's just a series of transferring me around.

    Thinks about things full-circle
I got this call tonight. I think it's a phishing scam. Thinks someone has illegally acquired names and addresses from a database of people  and is trying to see if any associated numbers "work" to use other scams on. If it works, your number can be sold to others to scam you - like getting SocialSecurity numbers mentioned above. My caller said someone was trying to call me collect and would I accept the changes --- from 800-829-7204. The caller couldn't pronounce anything and was VERY hurried - like the more calls you make the more money you (the caller) can make. It is a scam. Even the name "Regional Adjustment Bureau" doesn't even mention "collections agency" or have anything to do with student loans. It could be a "adjusting your broken belt size" company. You are ASSUMING the name has "urgency" attached to it so you respond the best you can as none of us like to hold up getting someone out of trouble.

IT'S A SCAM. Let me say that again. ITS A SCAM AND IT GOT YOU. IT'S A SCAM AND IT GOT YOU. A legitimate business has an 800-number so you can call the company toll-free. An 800 number is not one to call YOU from if its a legitimate business.  BLOCK THAT NUMBER AND THE ONES LISTED ABOVE.

YOU'VE BEEN SCAMMED AND WILL GET MORE CALLS SINCE YOU "VERIFIED" YOU PHONE NUMBER IS A WORKING NUMBER. DON'T ANSWER AN 800 NUMBER!!!
