- Informed TexanI don't know about other states, but if y'all are in Texas it is perfectly legal to record YOUR OWN telephone conversation....and you don't have to tell the collector that you're recording either. Go down to Radio Shack and ask the salesperson to help you find everything you need to accomplish this. If it is a land line, it will be fairly simple. There is an additional device you can purchase that automatically begins recording as soon as you answer (but keep in mind that this will be for ALL incoming and outbound calls, and you will break the law if you are recording a call that neither party is aware of, so make sure that EVERYONE who may use your phone is aware of the recording device).
Next, start recording the harassing calls. Try not to provoke them, but sit back and smile while they tighten their own noose. Let them curse and threaten you. Get it ALL on tape, and keep track of all the times they're calling and the numbers they're calling from. Keep it detailed. Then contact the Consumer Attorney that helped ME. His name is John Fugate and his office is in Waco, Texas. He is VERY good at what he does, and in fact has traveled the country lecturing at colleges (law students). He knows how to handle these creeps. You may owe THEM now, but by the time he gets through with them, they will owe YOU! Even if it IS a valid debt, they cannot break the law to collect, but so many of them do. It's sad really....and just wrong.- Caller: RAB

I think they left a message the other day, but the callers lack of diction with the English language left me wondering, "what the hell..." Yeah, I'm not calling them back and have blocked them from calling again. - BRAVO ECHO NOVEMBER replies to laughable folksa whole week!!!!!!!!
- Really Tired of RAB replies to PeteDCPeteDC, these fools are located in Cordova, TN, which is about 15 minutes east of Memphis. They, too, are calling my house umpteen times a day for an old student loan that I have.)Keep in mind, my landline is new and unlisted!) However, they have my name listed as my current last name first and my old married name as my last name. My REAL name no where to be found...LOL! These fools live about 10 minutes away from my ex-husband. Told them last time they got RUDE with me that my current husband and I was making a trip up there to pick my daughter up and would LOVE to stop in and talk to them face-to-face. We got hung up on very quickly. They called back within 2 minutes and said that there was no way that we would stop by. That weekend, we did drive by there on the way to pick up my daughter....LOL....nobody was there, but yet we get calls on Saturdays! (The thought of that...) If you travel on I-40 on the Germantown side of Memphis, get off of at the Whitten Rd exit (exit 14), head "south" on Whitten, and take the first left. They are about 1/2 mile to a mile down on the left hand side. They REALLY don't want me nor my husband to stop by...I'm SO tired of them!

- REPPINGRI replies to bleujeans| 1 replyThis company claims to be a Student Loan Debt Collector. According to the Federal Student Aid division of the US Department of Education, a collection agency has to be approved by this FSA division in order to collect student loans. I looked at the list of approved collection agencies, and this company's phone number does not appear on the list.
If they are being rude and harrassing you, that is also aganst the Goverment rules.

- Debbie in DelawareThe name of this company is Regional Adjustment Bureau, Inc. They are a Collection Agency. Their address is 7000 Goodlett Farms Parkway, Suite 501, Cordova, TN 38016. Their website is www.rabinc.com. Their main number is 901-382-0250.
They are NOT on the US Dept. Of Education's Federal Student Aid APPROVED list of Federal Student Loan Collection Agencies - you can see that list here:
http://www2.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/DCS/collection.agencies.html
So, if they call you saying that you owe the US Government for a Federal Student Loan, tell them you know WHO they are, and they are NOT approved to do so.
I hope this information is helpful.

- Rusty| 1 replyMy name was used as a REFERENCE by another individual and now I am getting harrassing calls from RAB in the morning, in the evening, at odd times M thru Sun. I have told them to stop calling me but they continue to call. When I first received their call I did call them back and they wouldn't tell me who they were just that my name was a reference. They have since continued to call and are always extremely rude. I told them that I was formally requesting that they not call me anymore but was told that I would have to file a cease and desist order before they would stop calling. Everytime they call it is a different person and they are all RUDE!

- LisI have been getting calls from this number, seems to be a "so called debt collector agency "Regional Adjustment Bureau" they are calling my phone number because I have the same last name that someone that owes them money have. They got to a stupid conclusion that if you have the same last name you are directly related to someone and therefore responsible for somebody else bad deals. Its an everyday, twice a day thing now. It's outrageous.Something needs to be done to stop this people.
