- GNHI received a call from 800 841 3000 aAndt 11:05 PM shortly after filling out a tow claim for the Geico insurance. Even though I'm filling out a claim at 11 PM it's wrong for anybody to be calling me at 11:05 PM with a toll-free number! Number Blocked!
- Caller: 800 841 3000
- philLooks like a legitimate service call from GEICO. However, I don't have any insurance through GEICO.
- Caller: GEICO
- junjunThis was a legit call from Geico. Confirming changes in policy as I was buying a new car the following day.
- Caller: GEICO
- Call type: Valid
- MikeHuntleton| 1 replyThe very first post says "this is Geico", so why is everyone after that trying to convince everyone its a legitimate call, who are you trying to convince, other people who already know their call was also legitimate? Or is it scammers shilling so they can keep spoofing this number to scam people?Keep in mind, just because a number MIGHT be legit, doesn't mean the caller is!
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.
People who get legitimate calls would know its legitimate and have no reason to come looking up the number.
800notes is about exposing scammers, shady businesses and harassing type calls from debt collections, surveys, political and telemarketers or anyone who scams, lies or cons people.
People come to share those experiences to help each other understand who is bothering them and share what information they can to help point a finger at those criminals. The data is useful in knowing the frequency of the calls and even allow someone enough info to research towards getting a company's background history towards legal action.
The idea is to stop criminal callers, but posting about legitimate calls will not help anyone stop them. Sure people want to know who called and it could have been a legitimate call, but it only takes one post with confirmation of who the legitimate owner is to establish if its a call you can decide was legitimate for you. The fact that scammers can spoof ANY number is enough to say that even legitimate numbers have scammers who call pretending to be legitimate, so you just don't really know who is calling.
Shills will come here to post about the number being "legit" and try convincing people to answer the call so they can scam you. So why help the criminals by posting about your call being legitimate? It has no impact on a legitimate business, only the shady ones and thats what we want to expose. Your legitimate post will only add confusion for others who read posts by those who shill about using the numbers they spoof.- Caller: Informational Posting
- SophieThey called me at 1:00AM on my cellphone. I've never dealt with this company. Who the hell calls at 1am?!
Blocked the number so they can't call again.- Caller: GEICO Insurance Agent
- Wifey replies to hinckmannYou are wrong for being so judgmental and assuming that people who won’t answer unknown numbers aren’t paying their bills!!! Shame on you! You making a comment like that is just like me making a comment like “you sound like one of those people who love finding these type of forums just so you can make holier than thou, judging, crappy comments to try to embarrass people”! Have a great day! 😉
- RalphThis number calls me all hours of the night. No messages. No idea who they are or what they want. This is the 3rd time they woke me up. Sounds like a scam. No legitimate business calls customers in the middle of the night. I do not have Geico. I will block them.
- RalphIt’s obviously a scam. Legitimate companies do not call at 1:00am unsolicited.
- Caller: Not message
- NickThey were calling me to follow up with a survey that I had filled out after getting a new policy with them
- Caller: Geico
- Call type: Valid
- JillI told them Progressive had quoted me a lower rate and I need my policy details to compare. So they call me. Nope. I want my policy details in writing.
- Caller: Geico
- Call type: Valid
- SarahThey've called me 3 times at 3:40am and woke me up before I get up to go to work. I am so not happy
- Caller: GEICO
- ChuckCaller (as listed online) was GEICO.
A female called me around 10PM (isn't that weird) to verify I'm happy with GEICO after having been with them for 11 years. Oddly, this happened after I made a switch to another insurer, saving me over $200 every 6 months (I pay in full every renewal).
Why no call during that 11 years to ensure I was happy? In good faith, I tried the last two renewals to get them to lower premiums, they wouldn't budge, kept increasing by a few dollars every 6 months. With a clean driving/credit record & insurance score, plus the car is 17 years old, why increase every renewal.
Oddly, the caller (may had been an automated voicemail) directed me to call another number other than the main GEICO one.
Therefore, I see the call as kind of suspicious. May had been the retention department, who knows, the caller didn't ID herself as such. Beware of these types of calls.- Caller: GEICO (Not 100% Sure)

- Annoyed| 2 repliesGot a call at 9 PM last night from Geico saying a car I traded in over a year ago was in an accident and I was still the registered owner. Don't know how since we traded it in at a dealer. They left a message and I tried to call back but after 10 minutes of listening to their sales junk without an option to talk to a rep I hung up.
- Caller: Geico
- Call type: Unwanted
- BigA replies to AnnoyedIt is possible the dealer never transferred the paperwork. However, I did see in another thread an accident scam using that companies name. In any case this should be referred to your car insurance company as they are getting paid to handle stuff like this.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Annoyed
Then you should have proof of that on the paperwork from the car you got, under the trade-in value deducted off the sticker price. If your Tags were used from your trade in for your new one, the dealer would have had to transfer them. If you got new ones, your old tags were supposed to be turned in to DMV and your local DMV can provide you with your Abstract.Quote:Don't know how since we traded it in at a dealer.
Also if your old car had the same Insurance company as your current car, then you can also get the statement from them on when it was transfered/dropped.
Combined with all those documents, you can sue the Dealership if they in fact sold your trade-in without legally processing through the DMV or report them to DMV, depending on your State's Laws. Some of those shady Dealers do that to avoid paying Taxes on the Sale. Either way, you can at least avoid any legal repercussions that might come your way if it is a real Insurance Claim from an accident with your name on it. - JustmeI did call but didn't answer by identifying who they were.. so I called the geico customer service number.. just to be safe.. still not sure if it was or wasn't. Geico took real good care of me..

- BettyI dont have Geico Insurance, and my Debit card somehow was taken from this phone number above ...started charging my account since Febuary $150.00, 7$79.48, $79.48, $79.48....they had me on a reoccurring cycle to steal from me. My husband called Geico here in AZ, they dont have me in their files and never took any monies from me. I called the number and it asks for your SSN ...No company can ask what your SSN is. I called my bank, they shut down my card, I never authorized someone who belongs to this number to steal from me. Always check your bank accounts.
