I have had my service from Comcast for about two weeks when this number called. the first time I didn't answer they called about four more times that day. I finally answered and it was some sort of sweepestakes thing and they tried to sell me magazines. I told her I didn't care to purchase any and she was very rude and tried to persuade me to buy! I asked her to take me off their call list and she hung up on me! The nerve of her!

Blocked my call and called back and they said it was for some magazine promotion sweepstakes and i told them that i don't want any magazines and they told me i didn't qualify.

Just got the phone 2 weeks ago....Guy calls and ask for a Mr. and Mrs. So and so...I told him they do not live here and he said "Thank You" and "Good Bye". I hope the calls do not continue, but if they do, maybe it will be the nice guy.

I also just got phone service, through my cable co. Armstrong{OHIO}, could it be they sell these names?????   We need to pick a day and call nat. headquaters of ATT.  ALL AT ONCE>>>>>

Just received a call but didn't answer. When I called back it was answered Family Reader Services.  I spoke with a very nice lady who asked how she could help.  When I told her they could stop calling she apologized.  I asked how they got my number and she said it was probably purchased off a list and that I must have filled out a form or somewhere listed my number.  She said they would honor my request not to call back...We'll see

I just got my phone number last week after switching from cComcast to ATT...no message left.

All companies gather and sell your information to telemarketing list services, as well as mailing list services. The make a [***] load of money off of selling these lists. You can request that your personal or identifying information be removed from these lists, but you have to contact every single business, service provider - even your friggen insurance companies and ask them to remove your name etc.  Now this doesn't mean they will do it - but most reputible companies (and some charities) will "try" to update their lists. The telemarketing firms that don't abide by the do not call list are the same scum bags that spam your email account.
Most of the dead air calls and rude @ssholes are independent telemarketers that do not care. In fact, when you say no - please take me off of your list - expect to get harrassed over and over and over - several times a day etc.

Our government allows it - as they do NOTHING to stop the blatant harrassment of these type of organizations. And oh, by the way if you are self employeed or working from home you are fair game to ALL people, even if you registered with the DNCL.

The phone company sells your# to these companies which should be a scam considering we are a business and are charged for the amount of calls so if they sell your # so you get bombarded by calls and then you get charged for them they are making $ at both ends it should be illegal basically stealing in my eyes

Caller asked for the owner or manager of the business.  I asked the name of the company she was from and she said "Family Reader Services".  She said they sell magazine subscriptions.

Called the # back using *67.  Two rings and Manerva answered and wanted to verify my phone # before she could assist me.  Told her I was a business and needed to be removed from their call list.  She said she would.

No one that I know of has 800 number to call out.
And, I get lots of calls from out-of-state, unfamiliar area code numbers.

I have my phone line connected to my PC. And, when ever I get call like these from unfamiliar numbers, I turn on to fax!!

Say you are on the Do Not Call list.  I have had the same phone# for 5 years and have been on the Do Not Call list since 2006.  I recently changed phone companies, but kept the same #.  They must have sold my # because suddenly I am getting all sorts of telemarketing calls.  I have a home office.  After receiving many, many calls from 800-845-2074 that were hang-ups,  someone was actually there and said Family Reader Service.  All I had to say was that I was on the Do Not Call list.  I had already reported the # as a complaint to the Do Not Call List.

IF she calls again - hit *57 on your keypad while on the call - this runs a trace to the phone company - 3 times and they forward to police.

This works on Landlines - check your cell phone carrier to see if it works for them too

THERE IS A SCAM OUT THERE WHERE THEY TELL YOU HAVE TO PAY THEM TO PUT YOU ON THESE LISTS - BUT ITS A SCAM

I had received a phone call from this number today and was asked if I had a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover card and if I was a student.  They wanted to verify my address and told me they were from the College Bound Network.  Now the company does exist but I somehow doubt that a company is going to give me $1000 to go shopping and I pay only shipping and handling, just because I'm in college.  When I asked what they need my address for and what this was about, she became short with me and insisted that it was totally obligatory and I did not have to do it.  I kept prying to find out how they got my number when I was on the DNC list and she hung up. No Family Reading Services for my call. Guess this 800 number is a multitasker.

FYI I do not have Comcast.
